My Shadows of the Empire Chewbacca action figure could so kick the whole enterprise crew's butt.

It is about damn time 3.75 inch figures came back. Changing the scale was the dumbest thing Playmates ever did.

So they match the new DC line. Cool. Kirk vs. Superman, here I come.

But the phasers aren't exactly the same as TOS phasers!! Sacrilage!!! This movie will suck. Yadda yadda yadda.... lol

Slightly surprised the phaser re-design is so different from the original.

But JJ Abrams always said this was a re-boot movie. And it's in the same boat as Enterprise - in some instances current technology has moved beyond what was in the original show.

So let's just see what the film is actually like before we pass judgement.

Of course, someone more cynical than myself would think the new phaser design is more to do with being able to sell new toys and collectibles...

Where is Spock (a Leonard Nimoy) version? Bummer...

By thanatos at 9:55 AM ON 01/24/09

The problem with using time-travel to legitimize the changes is thus. Young Kirk had nothing to do with the structural design of Enterprise. He had nought to do with the design of Phasers or Communicators.

If time-travel is the excuse, then only those things Kirk and the time-travellers had a hand in making should be changed. Anything created after the time-travel is fair game.

im not so worried about the phasers, and i know this isnt abrams fault, but......(giggle) AAAH hahahaaa where did Bones, yes the guy nicknamed "Bones", get *pecks*. L-O-L!! yeah, yeah i know, toy companies do this crap all the time, but those are ssuuuuuch a stereotype action figure.

By epalladino at 11:43 AM ON 01/24/09

The design of those phasers do remind me of the ones in the failed Jeffrey Hunter pilot. In later Trek canon, wasn't that style of phaser considered an earlier generation before the phasers we're familiar with from the TOS?

I dont get why people refuse to understand that this is a reimagining of Star Trek, Abrahms said as much. Also Star Trek has to change in order to not be written of to obscurity, many trekkies dont want to hear that. Also Roddenberry was constantly looking at ways to improve HIS show and vision and if you cannot accept his opinion then your not a true trek fan.

By thanatos at 8:10 PM ON 01/24/09

Abrams is a BSArtist. If this is a 'reimagining' then why is Nimoy in it? In an attempt to legitimize it to those of us who understood TGBoG's dream from day 1. Sure, the toystore Trekkies may be impressed, but those of us who *are* true Trek fans (here's a hint, we don't call ourselves Trekkies) are not amused by this farago of lies that Abrams is labelling Star Trek.

Does anyone remember a board where people said that the current Battlestar Galactica wasnt going to work? Think about that for a minute. Let the movie come out before everyone starts whining about how horrible this movie is going to be. Either your going to go watch it when it comes out or you arent, its quite literally that simple.

I think that the new star trek toys look good but my favorate toy out of all is the one with lenoard nimoy on it

By Informed Misery at 11:35 AM ON 01/25/09

Yes, Roddeberry was alays trying to improve HIS vision. But it was HIS vision to improve. Trek doesn't need to be reimagined. Why not come up with an orginal concept?

I can't wait to make the 12" KIrk doll do naughty stuff with my sisters barbie dolls! Kirk always gets the girl!
