Danny Elfman will compose the music for McG's Terminator Salvation!
They said he'd be back: Batman/Simpsons composer Danny Elfman confirmed to MTV.com that he will be composing music for McG's Terminator Salvation, the first installment in an envisioned prequel trilogy of films.
"I just started yesterday," Elfman told MTV News. The Oscar-nominated composer added that he hasn't made use of the classic Terminator theme by composer Brad Fiedel, nor is there a mandate to incorporate the hook, but he left the door open for its appearance.
MTV earlier reported that the Salvation soundtrack will also include a track by cast member and hip-hop artist Common. The rapper plays the role of Barnes, a freedom fighter who battles Skynet alongside John Connor (Christian Bale).

i would love to have both the cds of Terminator; TSCC and T4:Salvation. But i had the 3rd one and it was no good anymore.I hope that the theme of T4:Salvation will have the 1991 theme song in the beginning and the end or it might play it differently.

Wonderful, we get to hear the same chord progression Danny Elfman has used in every movie and TV show he's ever scored from the Simpsons through Dick Tracy. I suppose it could be worse...the score could be by James Horner and his two leitmotifs or the late Jerry Goldsmith and his one.

I'm willing to give anyone a chance, but Danny Elfman's chances are running low. His music is consistently the same. I'm also quite disappointed to hear that its very possible the standard Terminator theme won't be incorporated. The Terminator theme itself is just about as brand recognizable as the Terminator's themselves. There's a bit of a 'debate' going on between Transformers and Terminator fans right now (thanks to Michael bay's back handed swipe) but I'm thinking Transformers have already won it in the music battle. Steve Jablonsky is back and, well, the score to Transformers was brilliant (shame about the film). So my thoughts are Elman Elfman.

I'll give the soundtrack a chance, but I was hoping it would keep with the "Industrial" style sound of the early ones while updating it with modern synth sounds.

I love Danny Elfman's stuff, but he'd have to reach way back to Oingo Boingo dark stuff to pull this off. This isn't Halloween....
