Enchanted, Inc. puts hex in the city

Writer Steven Rogers (P.S. I Love You) has been tapped to adapt Shanna Swendson's fantasy book Enchanted, Inc. for the big screen, Variety reported.

Strike Entertainment is developing the film, about a small-town woman who comes to New York only to find out magic is commonplace and has existed there for centuries. But because she is one of the rare creatures without the slightest bit of magic inside her, she can see through any spell.

The novel was published by Ballantine in 2005.

It is definitely NOT Sex and the City meets Charmed. The tag of "Hex in the City" on the cover is a little misleading.

The main the character is more well-developed that the characters in SIC.

I recommend reading the book (heck the whole series). I think you'll really enjoy it. It's a fun, fast read. I have all four, and they are great "comfort" books.

The only similarities between "Sex and the City" and "Enchanted Inc." are that both are set in New York City and have a female protagonist.

The characters - even the non-human ones - in "Enchanted Inc" are more realistic and down-to-Earth than the fearsome foursome of "Sex and the City", who might just as well be space aliens - that is, I have actually seen plenty of aliens I could relate to better than to Carrie Bradshaw and her friends.

The books (there are four of them) are supremely enjoyable. I hope that the film, when/if it happens, gives them the wider exposure they deserve.

I read the books. The "Hex and The City" blurb on the cover seems to come from advertising people. The actual book never used the phrase. The series is more like "That Girl" in a world where magic actually exists. It would make a good movie.
