Exclusive first look inside the warehouse of Warehouse 13

Exclusive first look inside the warehouse of \<i\>Warehouse 13\<\/i\>

Here's an exclusive first look at the inside of the warehouse from SCI FI's upcoming Warehouse 13. (We're told everyone in the production is using this as their desktop image.)

SCI FI has ordered 11 hours of the original drama, which stars Eddie McClintock, Joanne Kelly and Saul Rubinek.

After saving the life of the president, two Secret Service agents find themselves abruptly transferred to Warehouse 13--a massive, top-secret storage facility in windswept South Dakota, which houses every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and supernatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government.

The warehouse's caretaker, Artie (Rubinek), charges Pete (McClintock) and Myka (Kelly) with chasing down reports of supernatural and paranormal activity in search of new objects to cache at the warehouse, as well as with helping him to control the warehouse itself.

Production is slated to begin this February in Toronto for a July 2009 premiere.

I think I've made it abundantly clear how I feel about this show...

I'll be over here watching my Dresden Files DVDs adn contemplating buying Friday the 13th the series on DVD until Scifi develops some sense.

By yeahyeah at 5:30 PM ON 01/20/09

I hope this show turns out well. It looks sort of X-Files-ish but when X-Files was good. Hope that turns out to be the case!

By Mandy at 5:37 PM ON 01/20/09

Actually this show is more or less a revamped Friday the 13th the series (predates X-files) with some of the Dresden cast and one of the Dresden Files writers. There's also this subplot thing they have going on about a ghost named Sam suspiciously similar to Bob, the ghost of The Dresden Files TV series... Why couldn't they just bring back The Dresden Files? I think I read that they still have the rights to the show for two more years.

By jeffala at 5:38 PM ON 01/20/09

One assumes that they're using larger versions as their desktop images...unless they like to look at distortion all day.

By yeahyeah at 5:43 PM ON 01/20/09

It sounds more like X-files to me. I'd much rather a new show like Warehouse then Dresden. I thought Dresden was kind of interesting, but also a bit boring. I realize other people like what they like, but I'm glad we're getting a crop of new shows. I can always hope for another Lost or Battlestar...

By Mandy at 5:49 PM ON 01/20/09

Yeah, ever see Friday the 13th the series?

Two younger people join an older man to track down mystical and supernatural artifacts to store away in a vault inside his antique shop and every week was a new adventure related to another artifact. The plot to this is identical to that only with the Bob... er... Sam subplot and it's a warehouse instead of an antique shoppe.

Some of us DO remember the early nineties, pre x-files.

X-files was an FBI agent and his partner the skeptic on strange cases. Sorry, this duo might be FBI but they don't have the Molder / Skully = Skeptic / Believer situation. And one isn't out to prove or disprove the existence of everything. The strange and supernatural is real. It's established almost immediately on Warehouse 13 just as it was with Friday the 13th the series.

They WANT you to think it'll be like X-files. That's why they chose that boring preview clip. It's Dresden Files marketing all over again. When that came out they left out mention of the wizard and ghost and supernatural-Chicago. They made it look, in the trailer sand early articles, like another Night Stalker or supernatural Law and Order. And that was not the case.

Looks can decieve. When you get down to it, when you really know the plot, it's a revamped Friday the 13th the series with some Dresden elements that would have been better suited to a Dresden Files Season 2 and certainly more welcomed in that situation...

By yeahyeah at 5:53 PM ON 01/20/09

Yep, seen all the shows mentioned, still think this looks like X-Files to me. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

By Mandy at 5:57 PM ON 01/20/09

Yeah, I'm not going by assumption here. I've read the pilot script.

Other than two FBI agents what about it is like x-files?

It's the two young people of Friday the 13th the series only now they're former FBI and it's a warehouse instead of an antique shoppe. Come on, they even write the title the same way! They didn't even try to hide that this is revamped Friday the 13th the series. And that recycled ghost bit is just an insult to fans of the Dresden Files TV series...

By yeahyeah at 6:00 PM ON 01/20/09

After this discussion I now find myself looking forward more than ever to Warehouse. I'll enjoy the new show, you enjoy your Dresden DVDs, we're both happy. Have a nice day.

By Mandy at 6:12 PM ON 01/20/09

Now you're being antagonistic as opposed to actually answering the question.

By yeahyeah at 6:30 PM ON 01/20/09

At the risk of posting way too many times, my response to your saying I'm being antagonistic is: not at all. You stated upfront you'd be watching Dresden DVDs instead of this show. I've stated I want to watch Warehouse and hopefully enjoy it. You've tried to prove to me that this show is more like Friday the 13th than X-Files. I respectfully agreed to disagree. You now want me to answer your questions about why I feel that way, and I don't care to engage further because I don't think there is an answer I can give that you will accept, and there is nothing you can say that will change how I feel. So, let's call it day and just go off and enjoy what we each want to enjoy. I'm looking forward to Warehouse and excited to see how it will turn out. So far I feel a pretty good X-Files vibe from it that seems really promising. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. You and all the other viewers out there are welcome to your own opinions. This is all I've got to say on the matter. Have a nice day.

By Mandy at 6:58 PM ON 01/20/09

I asked you two questions.

1. Other than there being two FBI agents what makes it lik x-files?

2. Have you ever actually watched Friday the 13th the series?

By Mandy at 7:00 PM ON 01/20/09

I'm not saying you can't disagree, I simply wanted two questioned answered.

By Wings at 8:17 PM ON 01/20/09

Definitely reminds me of the "Friday the 13th: The Series" premise, which is my all-time favorite show.

I will give it a chance. One never knows what one will like! :)

By Mandy at 9:04 PM ON 01/20/09

Oh, I'm not saying Warehouse 13 is bad. It starts a bit slow but it picks up when they actually reach the warehouse and there's a funny bit about an Aladdin's lamp / coffee pot and deviled eggs.

I general though I'd rather be watching Dresden Files.

By Mandy at 10:17 PM ON 01/20/09

Conversation with a friend of mine

(the following is a real conversation I just had)

Me: 'It's a warehouse. It's exactly what I thought it would look like. Sarah, did you think it would be in a warehouse?'

Sarah: 'Actually no. I thought it would be a jungle. 'Cause they totally mislead us by calling it "Warehouse 13." I was completely sure it would be a jungle.'

I just felt like sharing that. :-P

By brick at 1:06 AM ON 01/21/09

looks remarkably like a big warehouse to me. although, it's not a bad looking warehouse, as warehouses go.

By Mandy at 1:51 AM ON 01/21/09

I'm a little disappointed. It's a little too much like a warehouse to be a warehouse. I mean it's not like we were expecting a warehouse or anything.

By Network Geek at 11:36 AM ON 01/21/09

Actually, it sounds like the Steve Jackson Games supplement/game/webapp Warehouse 23. (Okay, actually the webapp is Warehouse 23 Basement, but, still...)

Steve Jackson Games Warehouse 23

Check it out and enjoy!

By Lister at 4:13 PM ON 01/21/09

It also sounds like the Libraian series/movies with Noah Wyle.

By Savanti Romero at 9:11 AM ON 01/22/09

I liked it better when it was called "The Librarian".

By Mandy at 4:38 PM ON 01/22/09

See the comments on the video clip of this for my full opinion of this. In short, I would rather they continue The Dresden Files.

By hesitantmom at 6:46 PM ON 01/22/09

Mandy, I have to ask, why are you so obsessed with a show that you don't even like? You don't like it but you read the script, watched the clip and have so far posted 11 comments under an article that's basically a thumbnail pic from the show. I get the feeling you're going to watch every episode then post online about how much you hate them. Why not focus your energy on a current or new show that you actually like? Check out Fringe or Lost or Terminator or something....

By Mandy at 8:38 PM ON 01/23/09

At first I was actually interested in Warehouse 13, mostly for David SImkins. I loved what he did on The Dresden Files. I wanted to give this show a chance. And admittedly SOME of the material is good. The Aladdin's lamp / Coffee Pot is funny among other things I don't want to spoil. But in general I honestly was disappointed. It was like seeing Friday the 13th the series revisited with Dresden elemetns. I was very excited when I first heard about Warehouse 13. Some of the Dresden Files writers and the father of Farscape working on it, I thought 'Well, this can be great.' Then reality set in...

Currently a British TV show has my attention. It's this unique and quirky drama called Being Human about the dysfunctional lives (or unlives) of a werewolf, vampire and agoraphobic ghost. It's a lot more interesting than it actually sounds.

By Hesitantmom at 10:49 AM ON 01/24/09

Yes we kno you don't like it but why the obsession with it anyway? Why the icessant need to state your opinion over and over and over again?

By Mandy at 2:16 PM ON 01/24/09

Because the shoddiness of what I'm seeing here has become the symbol of what the Scifi channel has turned into and I'm still bitter because of what it used to be. I had thought that without Bonnie Hammer around things would improve.

Also I think this HAS potential. But it needs to be polished... a lot. I'm still reading the articles because I'm hoping for a glimmer of hope that the efforts for Warehouse 13 get better. You have one of the guys who made Farscape coupled with a producer / writer from The Dresden Files that has to be a sign of potential. But the quality I'm seeing is not living up to that hope, particularly with the script.

By Dennis at 7:57 PM ON 01/28/09

Shoddy programming on Sci Fi? No... ECW is VERY well done. One of the best SF shows around! Why, you couldn't PAY for better a better Science Fiction show... hehe

Seriously, Sci Fi is turning into NBC's trashcan. Ghost hunters... Scare Tactics.... ECW Wrestling?

We were so damned lucky to get Battlestar Galactica from them...
