From DVICE: The Starship Enterprise and Battlestar Galactica go head to head

Ever wonder who would come out on top if sci-fi's most famous franchises duked it out?

Could a fleet of Shadow vessels from Babylon 5 overpower the Death Star? What if the Cybermen battled the Borg?

Check out our sister site DVICE as it leaps into the fray to referee a Star Trek/BSG face-off, which we hope will be the first of many such bouts. Find out which starship will be triumphant and which will end up as nothing more than space debris!

*yawn*

They do this at Comic-Con every year.

This is the very reason why I hate those Alien VS Preditor films.

My money is on the Shadow vessels of B5.

Enterprise is more powerful, but Galactica is a warriors ship, so they'll always find a way to win.

By Kross at 3:32 PM ON 01/16/09

The very definition of fanwank, maybe Russel T Davies will use it since he loves that kind of thing so much.

Now if the author of the article had some guts though, he would have declared Enterprise superior in all tech test (It's shuttle alone could own BSG) and then declared BSG the clear winner.

Because the Enterprise crew would never fight BSG, but I wouldn't count on the BSG crew not blowing up the Enterprise.

The said thing is that hey ar er a war ship and they just beat a scientific ship. They would stand no chance if they went up against a ship truly ment for fighting like their own

By ChiDem at 4:53 PM ON 01/16/09

Depends on the type of fight: BSG's crew would bug-out with its superior jump technology. While if the jump drive on the Galactica was disabled the Enterprise would best it because of its superior shield and energy weapon technology. However, Kirk would probably be busy with the clones to do any real fighting ;-)

The Juptier 2 would kici them all

By Bobanort at 5:20 AM ON 01/17/09

All I can say is:

HaaHaaaa . . .Antimatter, baby.

All Enterprise would need to do to beat most challengers (even star destroyers) would be to beam antimatter containers inside enemy hulls. BOOM!!! They win.

So what? You delete all the comments that that point out the ommisions of the author?

There were nearly 25 comments yesterday, now there are 11. How's that work?

Kind of an unfair fight.

Just about every scif out there has ships with lasery weapons and fancy blue shields. The Battlestars are just nuke-hardened carriers with missiles, bullets and flak cannons.

By Tiberius at 12:44 AM ON 01/19/09

I think it would come down to which ship has a better crew: The Enterprise crew is a coordinated team of dedicated professionals who spent their 5 year mission getting out of increasingly tight spots; the Galactica's crew is a bunch of tanked up losers and head cases who've spent the last few years at each other's throats as often as they fought Cylons. Kirk is cool under pressure, thoughtful, and resourceful. His first officer is as logical as a machine but capable of compassionate feeling. Adama got shot on his own bridge. His first officer is an alcoholic. Scotty could keep the Enterprise together with spit, duct tape, and bailing wire. Tyrol couldn't even keep his marriage together.
