MTV has posted this snippet of video for My Chemical Romance's version of Bob Dylan's "Desolation Row," part of the Watchmen soundtrack. The video was directed by Watchmen helmer Zack Snyder himself. You can watch it after the jump.
Note the nods to the movie: The smiley-face button the drummer's wearing, the Rorschach face on the stage, etc. Watchmen opens March 6.

Officially the first thing I don't like about this movie.

Um. Yeah. I don't know. Of course, Gerard Way did write a comic. So, maybe.

Too bad Dylan's version is infinitely better than this one. :)

A preview of the video, you should have said. Although, having seen that preview, I have no desire to see the rest. I give the filmmakers credit for including the song at all -- and I'm not surprised they didn't go with Dylan's original -- but I am disappointed by just how bad this cover is.

Yeah, I'm pushing 40, and I subscribed to Watchmen when it was published so when I first read it, I heard the original artists. I think injecting modern remakes of truly great music will cheapen the piece as a whole. I am still looking forward to it, but it's like comparing crab with surimi (artificial crab). Both are fine, but one will never be the other.

MRC did a great job with Desolation Row. The song takes a couple of plays to fall in love with and it's punk, but dammit it's 2009 and Watchmen is not 80s movie with music from 60s in the soundtrack! I sincerely don't understand why people are expecting that and keep comparing things that can't be compared.
