Rhona Mitra wouldn\'t say no to Catwoman, but addresses the rumors

"I wouldn't say no!" Rhona Mitra said with a laugh when asked if she would accept a part as Catwoman in the next Batman sequel. SCI FI Wire spoke exclusively with the lovely actress Jan. 11 in Los Angeles. She is currently busy promoting her role as Sonja in the Underworld prequel Rise of the Lycans.

While any plans for a third Christopher Nolan-directed Batman movie are currently in the early stages, speculative rumors as to who the villain might be and who would play the part have ranged from Johnny Depp as the Riddler to Philip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin. Mitra's name was recently circulated as a potential choice for Batman's feline nemesis/love interest Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman).

"Yeah, I've actually [heard that rumor] quite a bit," Mitra told SCI FI Wire. "As far as I know, they're not even talking about making another one [yet]. I don't know how those things get started and who says what and how all of a sudden that becomes information that's out there circulating."

Mitra added: "I thought that Batman Begins was, far and away as far as I'm concerned, the best Batman ever. I thought it was very true to the comic books, and I think Christopher Nolan is just a genius."

When asked what her reaction might be if she were approached by Nolan, Mitra's response was less than subtle: "Are you kidding me? I would be over the moon to be involved in something like that. I don't know who wouldn't. I just can't imagine [me] being a reality. Would I accept? Of course!"

So why not Mitra as Catwoman? The actress is starting to break out and has already proven she can hold her own on the action front with a turn in last year's Doomsday and the early scenes we've seen from the forthcoming Underworld prequel. Mitra even served as a model for everyone's favorite video-game heroine, Lara Croft.

"You can paint a way, and I'll follow through," Mitra said with unmistakable enthusiasm.

Where do they get this stuff about the Penguin? Nolan has stated that the Penguin was one of several characters that he WOULDN'T use because they're not believable enough. And if you want rumors, there's talk that there will be a sign at the end of Batman 3 (as there was at the end of Batman Begins) that The Joker will be in Batman 4. I'd like to see a psycho version of Harley Quinn myself.
