Rumor: Is Seth Rogen\'s \<i\>Green Hornet\<\/i\> movie dead?

HitFix.com columnist Drew McWeeny reports that Seth Rogen's The Green Hornet is about to collapse again.

Citing anonymous sources, McWeeny reports from the Sundance Film Festival that "it is 'highly unlikely' that the film will shoot in 2009 at all."

McWeeny adds that The Green Hornet has gone onto life support at Sony, with a good chance the studio's going to kick the plug out any moment now.

Eh... It didn't seem like it would be that great anyway.

Good, nice to know that fat bastard won't be The Hornet.

I had real problems with Rogen's vision of the Green Hornet. It seems that we will never see the Hornet on the big screen. I would be nice if someone who really loved the character and it's concept would get involved.

This is actually a good development-Rogan has no one's confidence. I was okay with it when Stephen Chow was on for directing, but his departure over "creative differences" was a prime indicator that this attempt at a movie would go nowhere.

Thank heavens! Best news all day. As a writer for the old Now Comics Green Hornet series, I was dreading this sophomoric approach to a classic hero.
I'm sure, sooner or later, someone who wants to do the character justice, will get a "real" movie made.

I think the Green Hornet will remain in development hell forever, because Hollywood can't figure out a crime fighter with no superpowers. Look at Frank Miller 's "The Spirit" - why did the character have to be invulnerable or immortal or whatever the flimsy explanation was? I'd love to see a Hornet movie, but I don't think it will happen in my lifetime.

Was this fellow going to make a SERIOUS film? Or was it going to be a spoof? I have had a real problem getting into the idea that this was going to be a serioust take on the Hornet.

Good. I couldn't be happier. I haven't enjoyed any movie this guy has made. He seems a poor man's Jack Black. That's pretty bad because I consider Black to be a poor man's C-list actor. I hope they both choke on hoagies and get burried right next to Chris Farley.
