Spacemen vs. Vikings: Watch the new Outlander trailer!
IGN.com has posted a new trailer for the upcoming sci-fi action thriller Outlander, starring Jim Caviezel; you can watch it after the jump.
When a spacecraft crashes into the fjords of ancient Norway, two enemies emerge: a soldier from another world, Kainan (James Caviezel), and a bloodthirsty creature known as the Moorwen. As the Moorwen ravages the Viking world, Kainan forms an unlikely alliance with the primitive but fierce warriors to fight it. The movie opens in limited release on Jan. 23.

There's been no ad campaign in the theaters. So, it's a safe bet the studio is dumping for a contractual in-theater release and then it will go to DVD.

Uh...So it's Jesus Christ: Alien Hunter? Why can't we have a Viking movie that's just about Vikings? The Vikings are a great subject matter for a movie.

I'll go see it. After all, I go to movies to be entertained. Plus, the absolute absurdity in Hollywood brought us a lot of very good movies.

I'll go see it, too. Why is it any more absurd to have an alien spacecraft crash in 709 AD than in 2009? For most moviegoers, the point of watching a movie is to be entertained. If this movie entertains, I'll be happy (and a little bit surprised).

An idea so whacked that I'm actually intrigued now! BTW, this "new trailer" appears to have been on YouTube since at least early July, and over there it says "coming in 2008."

"Limited Release" = in a single theater each in Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago for about two weeks, then straight to DVD.
