ABC has ordered a pilot from Warner Brothers Television for a TV series adaptation of The Witches of Eastwick, Variety reported.
Maggie Friedman is the writer and executive producer of Eastwick, based on John Updike's novel and the hit 1987 movie it spawned. The show is described as a light fantasy centering on three women who discover they have supernatural powers after a mysterious man comes to their small town.
Friedman's previous credits include ABC's Once and Again and The WB's Dawson's Creek. Warner Brothers produced an Eastwick pilot for Fox in 2002—with a cast that included future Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross—that was never picked up to series.

ABC's cult sci-fi series Once and Again? There's nothing sci-fi about Once and Again. I suspect there's some confusion here between Once and Again and Now and Again, a similarly named series from roughly the same time period.

D'Oh! You're right. We'll fix it.

I don't know why Scifi wire hasn't covered this yet but John Updike just passed away, author of Witches of Eastwick.
