Last summer's hits Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk both contained easter eggs and cameos setting up Marvel's eventual The Avengers movie, with Samuel L. Jackson taking on the role of Nick Fury.
But comic fans have wondered how Kenneth Branagh's upcoming Thor movie--reportedly set completely in the ancient past and in the supernatural realm of Asgard--would mesh with the very modern, real-world scenarios of Iron Man and Hulk. After all, it's one thing to have a millionaire arms dealer build a high-tech suit of armor, and quite another to have an actual Norse god descend from a mythical realm with a magical hammer.
Well, IESB.net may have found the answer.
The site reports that a coda has been appended to the Thor script that brings the myth into the modern world. According to the site, the character of Donald Blake has been added to the end of the script. He will discover the magical Norse hammer Mjolnir and transform into the Norse god Thor.
Will that work to solve what Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. has said may be the hardest thing about the Avengers film? That is, balancing these wildly disparate mythologies and characters? Stay tuned!

Well, it would only make sense that Thor's hammer is found and that can help bring him into the “bigger picture” so to speak. The studio should just be careful and maybe have a title card that reads like so many years or so later that way they can keep Thor in his world without the possible Thor sequels running against The Avengers movie sequels and such.

I'm actually very disappointed in how they are doing this movie. To keep it in the real world, with a modern feel, they should film it as Thor is presented in the Ultimate Avengers books. Left unclear whether he is indeed a god, or simply a delusional man, who happens to have some powers. I really liked how the other's opinions in the books lean towards crazy, and not a god.

The only thing that will get on my nerves is having him say "thee & thou" out of context of Shakespearean English. sure,it sounded cool when I was a little kid & didn't know any better, but now that I'm an adult,it sounds totally stupid. "Are thou going to partaaaay?" "Can I get it on with thee?" Sounds pretty stupid, huh? "Can I borrow thy car?"

I agree with the idea of Making Thor like in the Ultimate Avengers where Loki makes everyone think Thor is just a little crazy Green Peace, mead drinking, kind of guy (since he is often seen talking to Loki where only he recognizes him) with a power suit and high tech hammer... and yet he is out their fighting the good fight and is often the only one that sees the threats for what they are.

As a follower of the modern religion Asatru, I cringe at the idea of this movie. Marvel got the look wrong, got the lore wrong, and the idea that Loki is a god is offensive to a great many of us. He's a giant, and is Odin's blood brother, not Thor's brother.
Once again, I'll pass on another piece of Marvel crap.

@AZEqualizer,
Is Loki the reason for that? I read an Ultimate Avengers book (as in novel, not the graphic type), and they never mention Loki, only the lack of proof that he is who he claims he is. He offers proof, but they decline, actually.

Deven, I have read both the book and the graphic novel. Your right they didn't cover it in the books (at least not yet) but in the graphic novel at a time frame after the books they go a little more in depth. I won't give away too much but it is safe to say that they reveal that Loki is why no one believes Thor with his claims of being a Thunder God.... he also likes to torture Thor by coming to talk to him disguised as different people and only Thor knows that it is Loki. Needless to say this makes Thor look a little more nutters because he keeps pointing Loki out and no one sees any thing out of the ordinary.
Useful team member or rich Green Peace nut job... a good extra spin. I like it a lot better than the whole Captain Marvel type of Donald Blake thing.

Does anyone else think that the wrestler Triple H should play the part of Thor in the Avengers movie? Fair enough, he was rubbish in Blade Trinity (as was the film) but he could pull off Thor.

It's not an offense to a great many of us. They changed the Lore about to fit what they want, and they changed the look. Are we to complain? No. It's just a story. Many people don't realize our faith exists, and if we were to protest that Marvel get rid of this character, we'll just seem like idiots.
I personally enjoy the character. At least Thor IS a god and not some crazy with superpowers. Also, he's the true embodiment of good. How can we complain about Marvel making Thor the true embodiment of what is good? Seems like a compliment to me. And apparently they explain the change in appearance as well.
And Marvel could say that in these worlds, because there are many "Thors" in Marvel, are different from the real world one. After all, there are supposed to be an unlimited amount of universes in Marvel comics. And yes, every movie, every comic, every cartoon is cannon in its own universe, and this movie could potentially intersect with the comics if they decided to open a portal.
But in closing, stop crying. Acting like that only makes us seem like whiny bitches. We have to worry about religious persecution and you want to cry about the Thor movie?
