ACME releasing the most gorgeous ray gun pen known to man

ACME releasing the most gorgeous ray gun pen known to man

With no fanfare that we can detect, a company named ACME is about to release what is possibly the most gorgeous pen designed to look like a ray gun that's ever been made.

The aptly named "Ray Gun" is a retractable roller ball with a "special 'gun sight'-shaped clip," a stand that's as stunning as the pen itself and some beautiful packaging. (More images after the jump.)

The Ray Gun was created by U.K. designer Ben Hall and will be available in mid-February for $130. (And in a bizarre coincidence, ACME just introduced a pen designed by Star Wars alum Billy Dee Williams, called "Lovers," but it has nothing to do with Star Wars or ray guns.)

Acme? Ray gun? Is there a coyote involved with this enterprise?

It is pricey, but Acme pens are great. They work as well as more expensive brands and they have a sense of humor. They make a lot of oddball pens like this once. I have two of their models. Neither has ever put me in a hospital or made me see anamorphic animals.

People for whom $130 is nothing will buy it I suppose. I guess it comes down to whether the line it draws is a thousand times better than the line of an 11-cent blue Bic pen.

I suspect nobody would be able to tell the difference.
