Christian Bale—who was caught on audio ranting at a crew member during the filming of Terminator Salvation—apologized today in a surprise interview on Los Angeles radio station KROQ's Kevin and Bean morning show. (You can find the complete audio at the link above.)
Bale was very contrite in his statements. "It's been a miserable week for me," Bale told hosts Kevin Ryder and Gene "Bean" Baxter. He added: "Listen, I know I have a potty mouth; everybody knows that now. ... The thing that I really want to stress is I have no confusion whatsoever. I was out of order beyond belief. I was way out of order. I acted like a punk. I regret that. There is nobody that has heard that tape that is hit harder by it than me. I make no excuses for it. It is inexcusable. I hope that that is absolutely clear."
Bale also said the rant came during a time he was trying to channel Sarah Connor's inner nutball, as her son, John, and that he mixed up his character and real life. Bale also tried to stress that he doesn't feel like he's better than other people.
The apology, which came as a surprise on the morning radio show, comes amid widespread news reports about the on-set meltdown and speculation that it could harm Bale's popularity, the prospects for the movie and possible award nominations.
Terminator Salvation opens May 22.

This guy is a waste of human life. Frak Hollywood and all its cry baby prima donnas. Maybe they havent realized it, but they dont solve the worlds problems, THEY CREATE ENTERTAINMENT. THEY PUT ON A COSTUME AND PRETEND TO BE IMPORTANT. THATS ALL. Most of them suck as actors and actresses anyways, they just look good but have nothing of value to say.

Frak the haters. For me, Christian Bale is now the coolest man in Hollywood. He doesn't have to apologize for anything. The DP was being a doofus, and Bale let him have it. Over the top? Not for an actor whose job is all about emotional intensity.

You're right. I've been smote by the godhammer. I'm such a tool. I never really understood acting, so I can't appreciate the craft. Without them, I wouldn't have much of a life. Filling that sad void actually is pretty important after all.
I'll reflect more next time I think about posting.

Bale didn't owe any fan or noone an apology maybe to the DP, but not anyone else, but that's between them two.
People have bad days. Anyone who thinks life is full of candy, milk, and cookies needs a wake up call fast.
Bale made a public apology for his behavior, and that's fine. But most people who continue to disrespect Bale after this are just haters probably jealous of his career. Na na na why couldn't I be Batman why couldn't I be John Connor.... whatever people get in or get out and take your hate with you.

The guy apologised, what more could you want?
Besides, this isn't just Christian Bale's problem. Everyone feels justified when they're angry. It's not until they simmer down that they see how wrong they were. The haters are condemning a guy for being human and for something that is exeptionally trivial.
Seriously, this "news" needs to fade fast. There are bigger problems in the world.

honestly who cares about Bale getting mad at some crew member, if someone else had done that such as, a crew member to another crew member we wouldn't of even heard about it, but because it was him we might as well break out the pitchfork and torches cause that's not proper behavior for someone like him.

Come on, people! Who is actually "breaking out pitchforks" to go after Bale? Hmmm?
Who has complained? Hmmm?
All that I have seen is people reporting on it, but nobody (except idiots in blog comments) getting worked up. We all have bad days, we all understand why he'd get pissed, we all think he went to far.
NOBODY is freaking out over it, and yeah, it will fade fast. It's a non-story, and Bale sealed it by apologizing with grace and humor, and without trying to make excuses.
Done deal. Moot point. End of story.

Having an interest in seeing the saga continue. But not seeing as an extra story to be added on but to explore the area that was only hinted at. Every since I first saw Terminator I've always been curious what this future was like, and I can only thank McG for giving me that chance. But to anyone who chooses not to see this movie because of what Bale did. I am curious how does a movie's actor behavior even remotely deter you from wanting to see this film unless you just don't want to see it to begin with and using this as an excuse for others not to see this movie. Least to say Bale, McG, or whoever can do wantever they want on set I'll watch this movie irreguardless cause it's what I've been waiting for. I'm not watching this because Bale is in it, but because it's the backbone of the original movies. Bale was an excellent choice to play John and I'm glad McG chose him and stuck with him even after his incident.
Those who label this movie are close minded or they lost hope due to T3, but remember Jonathan Mostow isn't making this McG is. Don't know him too well, but I'd like to thank you McG for creating this movie whether good or bad at least you are willing to allow us the chance to experience this setting. And thank you Bale for playing such a difficult part when I first heard you were chosen to play it I knew from then it was the best choice ever made.
I'll be looking forward to seeing Kyle's reaction once he finds out John is his son if he does hope he does. It's a long ways off, but I hope T5 and T6 still get made. May is still a long ways off so hopefully we can still get new trailers showing stuff we havent seen before to hold the excitement of it.

This happened 6 months ago. I hope he apologized profusely to Shane the DP and everyone else there, including the direct McG, when it happened. If he's made amends with them, and tries to control his anger, then good. If he's only doing this to save his public image, then screw him.

I disagree with those who state that Bale didn't owe an apology, he did. They're right on the other hand that the guy he was yelling at deserved to be chastised, but not to the extent that Bale did, and Bale "appeared" to realize it. His apology though sounds hintingly as if he were told he was out of line and that because it became so public that he should apologize, and the apology probably wouldn't have happened if it hadn't been made so public, but an apology is an apology, and I respect that from anyone, regardless..

He "confused" his character and real life? A HA HA HA HA HA! Nice try, Christian. Also, what is up with his accent being all over the place? How many countries is he from?

People should just drop this. It's practically old news anyway. Ain't the first time any actor had an outrage and won't be the last.
By SGCSG1 at 8:08 PM ON 02/07/09
Someone at work annoyed me so I broke both his legs. So I think just yelling at someone is actually pretty, you know, mild.

Who really cares!!! It was said. Sue the guy, sell the story, or deal with it like a grown man. I wonder which is more respectable. It's not like he called his young daughter (flesh and blood) "a pig" and its magical being over looked.

all actors are the same- they think they can do no wrong. working in the industry ( camera, engineering) i've had to tolerate the hissy fits from these people. then they get caught , and their publicist spins some crap that makes everything better. would you tolerate an irate person in your place of business ?- I DON'T THINK SO. so why should we accept this ASSHOLES apology . i bet the person he screamed at no longer works there. ACTORS - JACKASSES pretty much the same.
