Cyborg assassin Aphrodite IX makes leap from comic book to 3-D flick

Cyborg assassin \<em\>Aphrodite IX\<\/em\> makes leap from comic book to 3-D flick

Comic-book killer Aphrodite IX, created back in 1996 by writer David Wohl and artist David Finch, will be soon adapted into a 3-D feature film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Threshold Entertainment, Platinum Studios and Top Cow Productions have teamed up to translate the Top Cow comic for the screen.

According to her backstory, after the cyborg assassin is sent on a series of undercover missions, she achieves self-awareness, begins searching for her origins and eventually stumbles onto a secret society of cyborgs attempting to undermine the government. The producers hope that they'll be able to replicate the success of Universal's Wanted—which starred Angelina Jolie and grossed $339 million worldwide—since Top Cow was also responsible for building Mark Millar and J.G. Jones' comic into a film franchise.

No casting decisions have yet been announced, and the producers are currently looking for the female lead.
