D'oh! Simpsons picked up for two more seasons

D\'oh! \<i\>Simpsons\<\/i\> picked up for two more seasons

Fox has ordered two additional seasons of Fox's animated series The Simpsons, which will bring the longest-running series in prime-time television history through its 22nd season.

The 44-episode pickup ensures the series will reach 493 episodes. The Simpsons airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox. That means more sci-fi friendly episodes like the annual Treehouse of Horror and these Star Wars-themed episodes.

"Best. 20 Years. Ever.", a year-long global celebration honoring all things Simpsons, launched in January and will culminate on Jan. 14, 2010, the 20th anniversary of the series' debut.

HAHA, I love how there's a picture of 'Astronaut Homer' in Bart's classroom. Hopefully with Simpsons HD, they'll be more easter eggs like this.

is simspns suddenly sci-fi???

By Zaphod at 4:59 PM ON 02/26/09

It's as sci-fi or more than wrestling...

I still love when Homer went into the space shuttle. More scifi references than the censors could take. :)

That sounds about right. You can't expect all of those Harvard Lampoon alumni to have to get real jobs, now do you?

This show should have been canned 10 years ago; I bet an actual good show, like Terminator: SCC, won't even get a 3rd Season, while there will be a hundred more seasons of Idol too. FOX SUCKS!!!

Animation is one of the categories and there are more than enough Sci-Fi tropes that come up in the Simpsons to qualify.

Terminator SCC lost me after the first season. It wasn't bad just not compelling enough to watch every week., FOX lives to torment Sci-Fi fans. I don't like to watch FOX shows because they always break my heart.

Darn Ruppert Murdoch to Heck.....

The Simpsons is waaaaay past its prime. It's no longer funny like the earlier episodes with Phil Hartman.

Now I could be wrong, ut last I heard even the simpsons creater was getting bored and tired of it.

the simpsons creator has virtually nothing to do with the show any longer, aside from drawing income. The head writer is a douchebag. The problem is not that the show is even bad right now, it's that history shows that it will go through another slump, if given the opportunity.

The worst part is that they feel it necessary to compete with other animated shows on the same network. Show tunes that are not funny have no place on the Simpsons. Period.
