Entertainment Weekly reported a rumor that Scarlett Johansson (The Spirit) is in talks to step in for Emily Blunt in Iron Man 2.
Citing anonymous sources, the magazine reported that Johansson has met with the filmmakers and is interested in taking on the role of Russian superspy Natasha Romanoff, who doubles as Black Widow.
Blunt may have a scheduling conflict with her upcoming Gulliver's Travels movie.
Marvel is reportedly in discussions with other actresses. Marvel will not confirm it to EW, but Blunt's representatives are still trying to make both projects work. Gulliver's is further along, with a start date of April 15. Iron Man 2 still doesn't have a shooting script, and a start date has not yet been determined.

Awesome, Emily Blunt was way too young for the role in the first place.

Crap. Just crap. Emily Blunt would be great, or at least good. Scarlet would be a disaster. She's the most overrated actress in hollywood. Only because magazines think she's hot and she's not a drug addict is there this idea that she's a good actress. She doesn't look the part, she's particularly attractive and she just can't act. This might put me off Iron Man 2 completely.

Well, yet again it seems the producers are casting for a name rather than on talent.
Then again, Johansson has comic experience. Look at how AWESOME she was in The Spirit. (cough cough)
Maybe they can just throw it all away and have Woody Allen direct it too.

@Methos - you do realize that Johansson is younger than Blunt, right?

Lets be honest, the Black Widow isn't a deep character. Johansson won't have to do much aside from looking sexy and deliver some decent lines with some mystique. Stand-ins, CGI and stunt women will do the rest.
I'm not worried, because she IS gorgeous and won't be able to do much harm. Not to mention that the director IS amazing and will do whatever needs to happen to make it good.

Saffron Burrow would've made a good Natasha. Scarlett seems more Yelena.

If it were me I would cast Olga Kurylenko. Just because.

i think we should all just boycott iron man 2 because of all the retarded changes that have been made, no more S Jackson, no more Mikey Rourke, no more blunt, whats next no more Robert JR. what the hell, what next direct to dvd release.

PLEASE! Get over yourselves. It's just a movie based on a comic book, not a work of Shakespeare. She wasn't half bad in Lost in Translation. Favreau's a good director, it'll be fine

I have to agree with Boppo414 .I think Scarlett is one hell of a actress. I liked her in the Island

I agree with Skyhawk. Saffron Burrows would have made a far better Widow than the wooden, stiff, overrated Scarlett. She should stick to Woody Allen movies, where you only have to give the director Wood to get the part.
