Is Kate leaving ABC's Lost?
Korbi at Zap2It, citing anonymous sources, reported that Evangeline Lilly, who plays the Oceanic Six member, was auditioning for fall pilots, with her representatives telling producers that she would be available to take other shows.
Not so, reported E! Online's Watch With Kristin. Citing Lilly's unnamed publicist, E! reported that Korbi's story was "absolutely false." The site reported that Lilly is not auditioning for pilots, is not available for pilots and is not leaving Lost.

I would assume ABC has Evangeline Lilly locked into a long-term contract and considering the important of Kate to the major plots of this series I doubt seriously they would let her out of the contract.

Why would Lilly leave a hit show for the uncertainty of a pilot? With only one more year of the series left, it wouldn't make sense financially for her to leave.

The only reason I could see for her wanting to leave the show is the way the writers have changed her once strong, independent character into an insecure, sniveling b*tch.

just a move to sell the hardcore fans on her maybe dying. In two week they will start her on nosebleeds.
Katee Sackhoff did two shows at once to sell her "death", so can Lilly.
and even if she died, would we care at this point? What's her contribution to the plot outside of being there?

I agree that it doesn't make sense for Lilly to leave when the show is so close to the end, but anything is possible.

Don't you people know how the show ends... Kate and Sawyer end up 25,000 years back in time. She hands him an apple from a tree that the island expressly doesn't want anyone to eat from, he stupidly eats it, they get kicked off the island BY the island, and start the modern human race. So yeah, she's important to the plot.
