Looks like the back story is going to be ruined. His claws did not come until he went through the experiment to infuse him with adamantium.

No, in the comic it was revealed that Logan (James) has had the bone extensions of his claws, they were later fused with adamantium.

I'm not familiar with Taylor Kitsch, so I don't know how he'll do as Gambit, but I still think Christian Kane (from Leverage and Angel) would've made an excellent Gambit.

And the little kid with bone claws looks cool.

"Looks like the back story is going to be ruined. His claws did not come until he went through the experiment to infuse him with adamantium"

For a long time now it's been known that the claws are part of his skeleton and that he had them before the experiment laced them with adamantium (this was revealed in the early 90's)

From the pic, it's clear that they're using material from the Origin mini series that came out a couple of years ago.

I thought I remember Wolverine telling the Proff. that he rememebered fighting the Romans? I think it was in the first X movie ?

Taylor Kitsch was brilliant in Friday Night Lights (character similar to Gambit), I think he“ll be great Gambit.

i think that was Connor McCloud from the clan McCloud...

@Mirak, Nope. No such line in the script. Logan's troubled by the fact that he can't remember much of his past at all.

@hunh? Connor MacLeod was born well after the Roman Empire ceased to be a major military power. Think your thinking of Methos ;)

I think you're remembering Van Helsing, where Hugh Jackman's character Van Helsing tells his assistant that he remembers fighting the Romans.

I have the worst pit in my stomach about this movie... Half of Wolverine's appeal is his mystery. The evisceration of his origins is going to ruin the character. This movie is also becoming a rogues gallery of cameos. The original Wolverine comic miniseries in the 80s was awesome and should have been the model.

By Facepuncher at 7:40 PM ON 02/15/09

Gambit looks too Emo. He is many things but Emo is not one of them.

By Weapon X at 7:57 PM ON 02/15/09

Wolverine's co-creator, Len Wein, originally wanted Wolverine to be a literal humanoid Wolverine given human form by the High Evolutionary. The second version of his origin was that Sabretooth was his father and abused him for years. The Limited Series Origin has it that Wolverine was born James Howlett in 19th century Canada, worked a time in a mining camp, and finally moved to Japan. He is known to have fought in World War II alongside Captain America, worked for the CIA, and was part of a black ops team before being used by the Weapon X project and finally joining the X-Men.

Actually his claws are apart of his mutation, which we discover in the comic/novel 'Origins'. The weapon X experiments just laced them with the adamantium. So that part of the story is right. I'm interested to see how they worked Emma Frost, Gambit and a very young Storm into the storyline though.

@ Facepuncher: That look in the photo is caused only by it being a horrible still shot from an action sequence. He's definitely portrayed as many things, like you said, in the film - and Emo is definitely not one of them. ;) He's from my home town of New Orleans with his smooth-talking, card playing self. I loved Kitsch in the role.

Please don't punch me. And if you feel you just have to... Watch the face. ;)

first of all most of you people expect movies in general to be exactly like the comics well quit your bitching most of the time the powers that be (producers) want tomake thier own vision of what they think you should see but you cant please everone I personally think hollywood is doing ok by most of these projects but you cant expect it to be just like the comics because you are dealing with a different media sorry to burst your bubble but due to time constraints ,special effectstech none of these movies will ever be just like comics you have to deal with actors egos, salary demands,in a nut shell you get what the producers think will make money and that's the bottm line!!!
