Wow. More explosions from Micheal Bay.

There was an explosion in nearly every scene in that trailer.

By Thogar at 3:08 PM ON 02/16/09

Psylon, it's an action film. Action films have lots of...action, which often include explosions. Complaining about explosions in an action film is like complaining about jokes in a comedy.

...and it's spelled "Michael".

By Marty B. at 3:14 PM ON 02/16/09

This is just the legit release of the trailer that was bootlegged and put up on youtube Friday, right?

By Simon at 3:33 PM ON 02/16/09

Um, Psylon isn't that the whole point of the Transformers? To see giant robots beat on each other and blow stuff up? At least that's why I'm going to see it. I don't expect it to be the next Se7en or Usual Suspects.

By kenny at 4:07 PM ON 02/16/09

yeah im going to see it for 2 reasons and 2 reasons only...1 megan fox and 2....wat was 2?...um....right the giant robots beat on eachother and blow shit up

By budgethero at 4:32 PM ON 02/16/09

yes, it's an action movie. but some people dont like being treated like they would never see a movie unless the trailer was filled with explosions and "oh no, someone's going to get hurt" scenes all over it.

By WVDrummer at 5:25 PM ON 02/16/09

Explotions are required from Michael Bay. That said, Transformers is the one movie of his that is really good. I can almost (almost that is) forgive him for the Pearl Harbor debacle.

By walleymr at 7:16 PM ON 02/16/09

Ravage!

By Psylon at 9:34 PM ON 02/16/09

Right!

I mean, that trailer told us nothing about the movie whatsoever. I'd like to think this movie is going to be a little more than the infamous "baysplosions". What's wrong with wanting a little more than that? I'm not complaining about the fact that there are explosions in the movie. I'm upset because the trailer looks like little else is happening. It doesn't have to be this big cerebral thriller, but come on, right?

We were all kids when the cartoon came out. Now we've grown up a little. I guess, I just think that the first one was great in spite of bay's directing, and not because of it. This looks to be more of the same. *Sigh*

Who am I kidding, I'll probably go see it anyways. Just wish Hollywood would realize that the subject material is rather near and dear to us. These movies could be PHENOMENAL in the right hands. Now, it looks like they will be merely mediocre. Oh, they'll still make copious amounts of money, but in the end the legacy will suffer. It kinda sucks. Sorry for party poopin. For what it's worth, I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

its a trailer psylon....why would they put what the plot is all over the trailer...and besides i heard a lot people complain that there wasnt enough robot on robot action in the first film and this shows we will get plenty of that...near and dear...its a cartoon, its a movie i enjoy them,i love em but im not going to curse god cuz someone doesnt do it the way i want

By dippydoo at 12:12 AM ON 02/17/09

Psylon, I've raised the same points. People tell me basically to "shut up and enjoy the explosions". So, I guess, turn your brain off and go enjoy them there explosions. Yee-haw!

By DeconTyke at 12:54 AM ON 02/17/09

I understand the point that its heavy on the action, and light on plot and I share the sentiment, though do remember, this is only the teaser, short and sweet. I'm guessing that the trailer will have a bit more substance. Plus, there's more than one angle to promote a movie and usually in this type the method is to grab attention with the action to garner buzz, and then go with the other angle...the substance, I'm gonna give it time.

By DarkHawke at 6:35 AM ON 02/17/09

Guys, not that I don't enjoy an intelligent action-adventure movie (Die Hard comes easily to mind), but let us not forget what we're talking about: a movie filled with giant, talking, transforming robots. Maybe it's just my lack of smarts or imagination that I can't figure out how to engineer a Shakespeare-worthy writing effort with that as your premise, but for my hard-earned, if you can just get me to buy THAT concept and not spend the movie laughing out loud at it, you've won the battle. Michael Baysplosions turned that trick in the first movie, and nothing I've seen so far makes it seem like he's gonna let us down this time.

So please, chill out a little. Were the cartoons really THAT good? Not that I saw, but I was only able to get into the Beast Wars/Beast Machines sequel series (Mainframe FTW!), and I'm not in the least offended by Bay's version.

By feckineejit at 9:04 AM ON 02/17/09

DarkHawke, I get what you're saying about the cartoons not being THAT good, but the transformers franchise is a vast universe with many different reboots and I'm sure that it can withstand the damage that a couple of Michael Bay movies will do to it, and not turn off the millions of life-long fans.

In some ways The Transformers are like Star Trek or Star Wars, you can be fan of just Star Trek the next generation, or just the original Star Wars movies and ignore the horrible things that other movies/TV shows have done to your beloved franchise.

I know I will go to the Revenge of the fallen movie and enjoy the explosions and think it kicks ass, and I will buy a toy or two in spite of myself.

What I will be hoping for, wishing for is a transformers movie that has robots that you see ACTUALLY TRANSFORM, not spin and click and bend, etc.

I could go on for another ten pages about how the toys can't possibly match what you see on the screen and they look like piles of shiny scrap.

However as long as the camera work isn't as shaky as in the first one I will enjoy this Movie about things that explode and the robots that explode them.

i dont think im asking for Shakespeare. i just want a story i can chew on. i know we dont know how good or bad the story is. but that's the rub. we've been shown nothing of the story. it's obvious the special effects are great. but we are told barely anything or none of the story in the trailer.

high dramas are almost guaranteed to have a story, good quality or bad, it will be a story. action movies are known for having little story or bad stories sometimes. so when an action movie comes out, i wonder about the story. im not asking for Shakespeare, but a story were the drama/comedy/horror of the action can be felt.
