I still recall how Scifi wouldn't carry Torchwood, didn't think Americans would like it. And then when it became BBC America's biggest hit they scrambled to get the next best thing... Sarah Jane adventures. And don't get me started on the Torchwood parallels to Sanctuary, which I view to be a low grade Americanized Torchwood. Sorry to all Sanctuary fans but that's just how it comes off to me. And Joe Dawson from Highlander the series with a British accent... no. Just no.

Wow, i always wondered why SciFi never picked up Torchwood after the reception Doctor Who got. Very surprising, but i guess its just another network in the end-makes some good call and some bonehead ones.

Just really glad i took steps way back and made sure i had BBCAmerica in place in my channel line-up before Torchwood series one launched. Can't wait to see series 3.

I agree with Spiritreaver. As the 2nd biggest series to come from Doctor Who, it amazes me that SciFi didn't opt for an adult series as good as this one is.
Sarah Jane was made especially for young children. This is definitely aimed at adults and I find it as entertaining as Doctor Who. Perhaps more so.
Any chance you will pick it up in the future so all of the fans who don't have BBC America can see how good the BBC is?
And my son wants to know whether you are going to show season 2 of Sarah Jane?

Mandy,

Sanctuary was in development at the same time as Torchwood season 1, and the first webisodes premiered around the same time. Season 1 of Torchwood was good except for the last two or three episodes, since then it has been abysmal. The main problem with the BBC is 12 episodes every two years.

Not only do we not get Torchwood (I think it may be too violent and there is some homosexuality that might bother Americans) but we didnt even get the Doctor Who Christmas specials in a timely manner - there are still five more Doctor Whos planned for Britain in 2009 but we arent getting them in a timely manner. Maybe BBC is still torqued about the Revolt back in 76 and are punishing us?

And yes, those other shows are horrific compared to the British originals.

Here I go again:

D***** they said they were doing 7 episodes this series!!!!! WTH! I thought 7 were too few... now they are talking 5??? GEEEZ.

Sorry. Torchwood. Amazing show. Watch it if you haven't.

"expected to air sometime in the summer on BBC America"

Sure, fine, but when will it air in the UK (or more to the point on BitTorrent).

I enjoy both Torchwood and Sanctuary which started as a webshow and moved to being televised after Torchwood. I enjoy them for different reason. I mean Torchwood is hotter ;) I know that if SciFi hadn't taken up Torchwood I'd be watching in BBCAmerica regardless of what anyone thinks of the American audience.
