Star Trek's original pilot reimagined with LEGOs

Capt. Pike is punished by the Talosians.

Before William Shatner got his chance to ham it up as James T. Kirk, actor Jeffrey Hunter captained the starship U.S.S. Enterprise in 1964's original Star Trek pilot, "The Cage."

Now, thanks to Detail Man 60's tribute on flickr, they've both been replaced—by LEGOs!

The crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise attempts to rescue Capt. Pike.

The classic pilot that launched a franchise has been lovingly re-imagined in plastic, reproducing the action in a 36-image set—Pike's capture by the Talosians, his battle with an alien giant and more.

Detail Man 60 promises that he'll complete the episode soon, so keep checking his flickr page for more LEGO Trek love.

I Lego Spock's ears. I really wish Jeffrey Hunter had stayed on Star Trek. His Christopher Pike was much more subtle and interesting than Shatner's Kirk. If Hunter had stayed on Trek, he may not have died young from a stroke.

I prefer LEGO creations that don't use modified pieces. When done well, they can be much more impressive.
