“Teen Spirit” director Samuel Bayer to helm new Nightmare On Elm Street

“Teen Spirit” director Samuel Bayer to helm new \<i\>Nightmare On Elm Street\<\/i\>

Risky Business reports that Samuel Bayer will direct the proposed remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street for Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes company.

Bayer is known for his commercials and music videos, especially Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and Blind Melon's "No Rain."

Bayer is also signed on to helm Fiasco Heights, a thriller Platinum Dunes is producing for Universal.

Platinum Dunes' Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are joining Bay in producing Nightmare, which observes its 25th anniversary this year. Bay, Fuller and Form are also producers of the Friday the 13th reboot movie, which opens Friday.

Please make it stop. No more remakes. Hollywood is just going down the list and checking it twice. Hmm, what's next, Hellraiser? When are people going to boycott these movies and send a message to Copywood that we want new stories?

Scifi-ed, I said the same thing in regard to the Friday the 13th remake and the Halloween 2 remake. And what's with calling these things 'reboots' and if it's based on a book that's been adapted before then it's a 'reimagining' . It's still a pathetic remake to me...

I think I speak for everyone who knows Bayer's work:
NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I like his video work for Garbage, Nirvana and of course Bowie but come on… he is just like Dave Meyers, Brett Ratner, The Struass Brothers and the rest of the ilk. They suck when it comes to full length movies cause they have no concept of directing scenes that last longer than say 20 seconds, using really good looking FX, pacing and characterizations.

There have only been a few (a handful at best) video directors that have made kick ass film directors. David Fincher is one, Mark Romanek (who SHOULD be doing this movie), Spike Jonez… see only a few… Michael Bay (I'll count cause I do like “The Rock” and “Con Air”).

This reboot or remake or whatever they call it should be done by a trusted and tested horror director or suspense director.

Actually scifi-ED there's been a Hellraiser reboot...remake...whatever...in the pipeline for a few years now.

As for this...I have to draw the line. I usually like some of these remakes. Sometimes it's nice to see a fresh take on old material. But not Nightmare. Not now...not ever.

Seriously, it's time for this BS to stop!

All of the horror remakes have sucked BIG TIME; I've been reading the early reviews on the Friday the 13th remake, and they're not good!

We need to put together a petition, send letters to New Line, and threaten to boycott if they follow through with remaking Freddy.

I don't have a problem with a prequel (starting Robert Englund) since they have only covered some of the bad things Freddy has done while he was alive in flashback, nor do I have a problem with a long awaited sequel to the current Nightmare series, I'd even take Freddy vs Jason 2 over a FN Remake!

It's time Horror and Freddy Fans come together and try to put a stop to this before it gets off the ground!
