Terminator's McG will meet with Arnold, still talking with Hamilton

\<i\>Terminator\<\/i\>\'s McG will meet with Arnold, still talking with Hamilton

McG told SCI FI Wire at WonderCon in San Francisco on Saturday that he's still talking with Linda Hamilton about reprising the role of Sarah Connor in his upcoming Terminator Salvation and that he is also meeting with California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger next week about some possible involvement.

The governor has seen the film, McG added, and said it's a matter of the governor's speaking with his staff to see if it's appropriate. "He saw the film two days ago, and I'm scheduled to see him this week," the director said.

McG added: "Truthfully, it's not clear. It's not clear. We'll see where we land. I mean, he's a very powerful guy, he's got to do what's right for him. You know what would be helpful is if all of us collectively put a little pressure in a couple of e-mails saying, 'Hey, we think it would be a good idea.' I mean, we're not getting any blowback or any resistance; I just kind of respect that the guy's the governor of the state of California, and he's got to go back to his advisors and ask them, 'Hey, is this a good idea?' And you never know if they're going to go, 'No, we've done the numbers, and it seems to suggest that people will feel uncomfortable if the governor is dabbling.' Who knows? Who are we to guess?"

Schwarzenegger originated the role of the T-800 Terminator cyborg in James Cameron's original Terminator movie; McG has been hinting that there might be room for Schwarzenegger in some way.

Meanwhile, McG unveiled the film's new theatrical trailer to fans at WonderCon on Saturday.

The new trailer includes a lot of footage that's already been seen, but it also sets up a bit more of the story with references to "replicating human tissue," shows humans in a giant holding pen in some massive factory and offers the first suggestions that Marcus (Sam Worthington) is not entirely human.

After Kate Connor (Bryce Dallas Howard) and John Connor (Christian Bale) have Marcus tied up, John says to him, "You think you're human."

Marcus says, "I am human," before looking down to see ... what? His exposed chest?

In the final scene, we see Marcus' face half torn away to reveal—an endoskeleton underneath? —as he says, "I'm the only hope you have."

The trailer also offered a better look at some of the visual effects of the giant machines, including a massive Harvester robot, a Transporter vehicle, automated motorcyle terminators and flying Hunter Killers. The trailer also highlighted the movie's massive explosions and a collapsing building.

McG also showed two other clips of footage that he's previously screened for press, including the attack at the gas station and subsequent chase and the helicopter encounter with the aquatic hydrobots. Terminator Salvation opens May 21.

I can deal with McG and the cameos (kinda), but that bit about Marcus' character is complete bull.

I know what I won't be doing in May...

I would like to see Arnold as a scientist or engineer designing the first T-800 series using a younger version of himself as the basis for the physical design.

How about Lou Ferrigno as a new model terminator?

By YMHJ at 5:25 AM ON 03/01/09

How about your mom as a new model?

Soooo . . he's gonna get the governor of a state that couldn't afford to pay out the tax returns it owes it's citizens to be in a movie???

I could see the people of CA having a legitimate issue with Arnold filming a new movie as that would be a major time commitment that would undoubtedly distract him from his duties as governor. However to complain about him spending a small amount of his free time doing some voice recordings that will help a movie generate a large amount of money in a faltering economy is driven only be ignorance and dishonesty.

I can easily see Arnold having a big part of these films 4, 5, and 6 if not 4 then at least 5 and 6. Cause they need to explain where skynet got the skin design for their terminators. Maybe if anything having Arnold be a human civilian that gets capture by the machines and they get the design for their terminators off that. I cannot see where Arnold won't have anything thing to do with these movies. Maybe in terminator 6 we would see an army of them all looking like him attacking a resistance base that would be cool. Arnold can do the movies if he really wanted to he can schedule a date to film it on his days off or they could film it in California so he doesn't even have to leave the state. The bigger question is if Arnold is willing to do it. It sounds as if Arnold doesn't want to be part of it if he doesn't like the movie. That's understandable, but these movies won't really be connected with the older one's unless he is involved.

But Linda Hamilton on the other hand I can't see anything to do with her in the movies except that photo John gave to Reese. It's not like she's going to have a role in the movie unless as a terminator, but that would be a bad idea.

I think it has already been established that Hamilton's involvement would be voice over work...being a narrator.. The Gov...Probably a quicke scene where we just see him as a prototype. The "human model" idea actually does sound plausible. Niether of those scenes would take mor that a few hours or day to shoot...doubt he would be away from Sacremento very long.

TTS, how was I dishonest? If they (California Government) can't pay their bills and people are losing their jobs all over and he's going to get a cameo when technically a governor is on duty 24/7??? A couple hours may make the difference. Who's the ignorant one now?
