There's already talk of a sequel to the new Friday the 13th; who'd be back?

There\'s already talk of a sequel to the new \<i\>Friday the 13th\<\/i\>; who\'d be back?
Amanda Righetti and Jared Padalecki star in Friday the 13th.

The upcoming reboot of Friday the 13th doesn't come out until Feb. 13 (a Friday, naturally), but talk of a sequel is already in the air; after all, the original 1980 movie spawned 10 sequels, a television show, novels, comic books, video games and merchandise.

Several of the film's actors (possible spoilers ahead!) added in interviews with SCI FI Wire that they have a contract option for a second film with the production company, Platinum Dunes, and would love to reprise their characters.

"There's rumors for a sequel," Derek Mears—the towering stuntman and actor who plays Jason Voorhees—told SCI FI Wire in an interview over the weekend in Beverly Hills, Calif. He adds: "Any film you do, it could be, it doesn't matter, they're going, 'Well, we're thinking about a sequel.' Everyone does. But I do have a second-picture option with Platinum Dunes. It could be for part two; it could be for another film [unrelated to Friday the 13th]."

Amanda Righetti—who plays Whitney—also has an option, she said. "They haven't really decided what they're doing with it," she said. "Obviously, they're waiting until the film comes out to decide on whether they're going to do a sequel or not. But, you know, it just depends on who they want to bring back."

Jared Padalecki—who plays Whitney's brother, Clay—jokes when asked if he'd do another one. "How many zeroes?" he says, adding, "Just kidding. I'd love to go back and work with these guys again, whether it's Friday the 13th, Saturday the 14th or whatever."

Producer Brad Fuller dismissed talk about a sequel, at least for now. "No, we really haven't [discussed it]," he said. "I mean, I don't know. I just feel like talking about a sequel jinxes it. Honestly. [But] if it does well that Friday night, we'll have talks on Saturday morning at 6 a.m. We'll start figuring it out. But until then, we don't want to talk about it. We don't talk about what could be, because you never know."

Who might come back? "We've loved the cast on this movie, top to bottom, and there isn't an actor in this cast that we wouldn't be happy to work with again," Fuller said. "Especially Derek Mears. Derek Mears is as great a guy as we've ever worked with. ... I mean, he has the hardest job in the movie, and I think all the actors would agree. ... All the makeup he had to wear and, uh, it's brutal. ... Never complained once."

For his part, Mears said he'd love to put on the hockey mask one more time. "Yeah, hell yeah," he said. "Right in a New York minute, as Harrison Ford would say. I would love to come back."

Yet another case of Hollywood running out of original ideas, and returning to squeeze more out of a long played out franchise. I swear, can stinkers get any worse than this series.....

I can think of a lot worse than this series...

Not to say that it wouldn't be nice to see some new stuff though instead of rehashing all the old. But I am still looking forward to this one.

Great so even if it bombs we get stuck with a remake of a sequel. Bleh!

God Hollywood is so out of original ideas if they're opened yet. This one already looks like shyte given the caliber of WB pretty faces populating this knock-off.

Well...I'm not stuck with anything. They can make all the remakes of bad sequals to a bad movie franchise they want. I only saw one of the originals...that was one to many, and I will NOT be seeing this new waste of celluloid or any of its sequals. No problem for me at all...just not goin'.

If you don't like horror movies, leave commenting to those who can be constructively critical rather than verbally abusive to the franchise. After all, I don't dis your Sesame Street watching, now do i?

While I honestly only really liked 3 of the 11 Jason Voorhees movies (10 if you dismiss the first), I admit to being a fan of the Triple Threat (Voorhees, Krueger & Myers). While I have no real interest in Ackles new horror movie (I may watch it on DVD) even though I like him over Jarod (probably has to do with my being a huge Dark Angel fan), I'm much more interested in seeing how this new F13 works out.
