Warner Brothers is developing a film based on the DC Comics property Suicide Squad for Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes) to produce as a potential franchise, Variety reported.
Suicide Squad concentrates on a group of incarcerated supervillains recruited by the government to accomplish a task deemed too dangerous for superheroes.
The first version of the squad debuted in a 1959 DC Comic, and a series was launched in 1987.
Stephen Gilchrist from Lin Pictures will co-produce. Justin Marks (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea) is writing the screenplay.

See, to me this would be more interesting if DC had more continuity between it's movie franchises, the way Marvel's doing it. That way we could actually see some of these members in some of the other DC movies and build to them being recruited into the squad and not have to focus an entire movie on the origins of each individual member; which is bad enough when there's one or two characters that require a backstory and not a whole team of characters.
To top it off, a lot of these characters aren't going to be well known to anyone but the most hardcore fans of the comics; something that could be fixed if they were exposed to at least some of them prior to being main features in a movie.
Of course, on the other hand, I don't know what movies any of these characters could fit in; especially since all but the next Batman movie are mostly abstract plans that may or may not materialize. Even if there are plans now for a Green Lantern movie or a Flash movie within the next couple of years, there's always a real good chance it'll get delayed or outright shelved at any point before then, because it seems to happen a lot with the DC franchises, sadly.

They should do Supermax and then do this one...that way they could introduce the movies main characters and this and a Green Arrow stand alone movie could act as sequels

the comic was great, if they can keep it close to the story it would be interesting.
