28 Weeks helmer Fresnadillo developing X-Ray remake

\<i\>28 Weeks\<\/i\> helmer Fresnadillo developing \<i\>X-Ray\<\/i\> remake

Spanish director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo has made a deal with MGM to develop a film based on director Roger Corman's 1963 sci-fi horror movie X: The Man With the X-Ray Eyes, a movie from MGM's library, Variety reported.

The original starred Ray Milland as a scientist who is near a breakthrough in X-ray vision technology when his funding is cut off. Desperate to show results, the doc applies eye drops that eventually cause him to lose control over his growing powers.

Mandeville Films partners David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman will produce with Enrique Lopez Lavigne. Lou Arkoff will executive-produce.

The director hasn't committed to a film since his zombie sequel film 28 Weeks Later. Fresnadillo is in Hollywood this week meeting with writers for X and is expected to set one quickly, the trade paper reported.

"If thine eye offends thee... pluck it out!"

"Oh God, I can still see!" (A line that was removed from the original.)

Definitely one of the best Sci Fi films of 1963. 45 years is long enough to wait for a remake. My only hope is that they can do it justice and pay tribute to the original.

X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes creeped me out as a kid. It could use a little update

Not that I'm a fan of the endless flood of remakes, but it they must remake this (somewhat) lesser know classic they really should put the infamously deleted line back in...
