Joel Gretsch (The 4400, Taken) has come aboard ABC's drama pilot V, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

V, a reboot of the 1980s miniseries, deals with an alien invasion.

Gretsch will play a Catholic priest who sees a renaissance of faith after the Visitors arrive.

He joins a cast that includes Scott Wolf.

V reunites Gretsch with 4400 co-creator/executive producer Scott Peters, who wrote V on spec.

This guy just loves those alien invaders series. Loved him in Taken, his character had a great arc.

Man! I just want my The 4400 back written by Ira Behr and not that dick Scott Peters who dissed what Ira did with the show in Seasons 3 and 4, when it actually got much better. Still haven't watched the finale. I will soon, but it was too painful before. God damn you, Bonnie Hammer!

Man, talk about typecasting. First, Taken, then Minority Report, then The 4400, and now V. This guy is too good an actor not to be getting more work or a good series to be a part of. Personally, I'm not getting my hopes up with V.

He also played the dad of the main character in Journeyman.

I miss The 4400 and yes, season 3 & 4 was better. I missed out the short 1st season mostly and started on the 2nd season.

I was watching The 4400 from the first episode & was very sad to see it end. Joel Gretsch was just one part of a greater whole, but I can't see anyone playing the part of Tom Baldwin but him. Although nothing can replace the original V, I'm looking forward to seeing Joel in a show again.

While I still miss him in the 4400 It is kind of funny Joel is showing up in so much scifi. I wonder if it is because he is the son in law of James T. Kirk "William Shatner". Probably not but I find his character interesting. Perhaps he is the analog of Father Andrew Doyle from V: the Final Battle.

Looks like Donovan to me.

Very excited to see V return to the tube. I think Joel Gretsch is a terrific actor and can certainly make this show work very well. I'm still very bitter about the cancelation of The 4400, and I have been lamenting this all over the web. I just wish they would give us a two hour show to wrap it up. Anyways I'm happy to see that he's back.
