There's an easter egg hidden in tonight's new trailer for Caprica, the upcoming Battlestar Galactica prequel series: The first Cylon!
Blink and you'll miss it, but we've got an exclusive screengrab of the proto-toaster right here. (It's in the background and suggests the early-model Cylons seen in Battlestar Galactica: Razor.)
Caprica will premiere on SCI FI Channel in 2010, but the uncut and unrated pilot will be available on DVD (via Universal Home Entertainment) and as a digital download (via Universal Cable Productions) on April 21. The finale of Battlestar Galactica airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT, during which the Caprica trailer will debut. You can also watch the new trailer later tonight on SCI FI Wire.

well if its a cylon on caprica then not near first cylons
since there were cylons 2000 years before and had already had skin jobs and populated earth
and skin jobs got blown up by other robot cylons
soo cylons been around long before the caprica planet was even established
jsut had to correct u

sssshhhh....
Continuity shouldn't matter in a prequel..
Remember enterprise...
Name me one Prequel that was a success on television.
Cheers

Uh...It's a cameo appearance by a T600 endoskeleton. When Christian Bale had his now infamous hissy fit, some of the T600s snuck over to the Caprica set to get some extra money during the break.

i guess you bsg "fans" should pay a little more attention to your favorite show! Or maybe enlighten yourselves on the theory of reletivity while online, instead of trolling for your dream-dork in sci-fi forums. Anders explained the time discrepancy before falling into his hybrid coma.

Jay is absolutely correct.
If you truely listened to the dialog of the shows you would know that Cylons or robotic beings were created on Kobal, the first Cylon Earth, the 12 Colonys and well we are heading there now on this Earth.
"What has happen before will happen again."
What you see here is the Caprica type Cylon that starts the first war but then leaves with the Final 5 when they are offered Resurection the first time.

obviously someone went back in time. That's way characters' ages are different and the nacelles are different.
By Muldfeld at 11:54 AM ON 03/21/09
I think it DID take Anders and the others 2000 years or so to get to the 12 colonies, but they travelled at "subliminal" speeds, whatever that means.
Anyway, the person who posted the article only meant the first cylon created on the 12 colonies.
By sparrrownightmare at 1:12 PM ON 03/21/09
Okay. A few points.
First Muldfield. Subluminal means slower than the speed of light. Given that Adama mentioned that they were a million light years from the colonies. It should have taken the cylons over a million years to reach the colonies, not thousands.
Second, don't be too worried about continuity. It's been messed with since the pilot aired.
The plots and such on this joke of a show seemed to worsen with every episode. I suppose you can't expect too much from SciFi channel. At least in that, there is truth.

It's not that hard to follow -
Kobol - 4000 years ago -the "Cylons" (skinjobs) left Kobol as the 13th tribe to ultimately find Earth I
Kobol - 3000 years ago - humans left and founded the 12 Colonies
Earth I - 2000 years ago - The Final Five are the only "Cylons" to survive a planet-wide nuclear war. They start their trip to the 12 Colonies.
50 years before BSG - Daniel Greystone creates a "Cylon" It is not related to the Final Five (it's not a skinjob), but is a similar artificial intelligence.
40 years before BSG - The Earth I Final Five make it to the 12 Colonies and promise to give the Colonial Cylons (true robotic form) the ability to create skinjobs if they will stop the war with the humans.
Sometime after the war ends, the Final Five create the eight skinjob models. Cavil, the first model, kills off Daniel and seemingly erases the Final Five's memories of Earth I.
In the years running up to BSG, Cavil deposits the Final Five on the Colonies so he can exact revenge on them with the nuclear annihilation.
So, there is no fudging the timeline. There are two distinct Cylons being discussed here. Greystone creates metallic AI, the Kobol/Earth Cylons were humanlike skinjobs.

Sparrow,
Adama was not talking about the Cylon Earth but "our" Earth. As Adama explained, "Earth is a dream."
The real Earth is the colony planet of the Cylon's who left Kobol.
---
1) The real home planet for most of humanity is Kobol.
2) Humans on Kobol created robots. Those robots eventually became flesh-based. The humans and biological Cylons left Kobol to form the 13 colonies.
3) The human colonies experienced some kind of dark age and lost a chunk of their technology. Thousands of years later on Caprica, Daniel Greystone built what humans of the 12 colonies thought of as the first Cylons, since they had lost their history.
4) Meanwhile, 1,800 years in Greystone's past, the Cylon Earth humanoid Cylon descendants from Kobol had created their own mechanical robot slaves. Before the robot slaves could revolt, the Final Five began having visions of a catastrophe. The redeveloped resurrection technology and left for the 12 Colonies to prevent them from developing robot slaves.
They arrived too late. Greystone's Cylons had revolted.
P.S.
"Subluminal" means less than speed of light. But traveling near speed of light causes time dilation; every one on the starship that is moving close to lightspeed has time slow down for them relative to the world outside the ship.
Final Five on the ship, aged slower but were resurrected as their bodies died after years and years in space.
p.s.
The Captch system sucks!

What are any of you talking about? Humans didn't make Cylons! Cylons were reptile-beings who created robots to continue their war with humans after they started dying out! What kind of drugs are you all on?
By Chip2800 at 10:16 PM ON 03/21/09
hahaha. I'm looking forward to seeing how Caprica fits into the continuity of the "final five" creating the rest of the Cylons. If it doesn't I think it's discredited. But, the BSG folks have been clever so far, so I will take a look at Caprica when it comes out and then decide.
By pfyearwood at 10:47 PM ON 03/21/09
What the Final Five did was invent the Download Technology/Resurrection , not the Cylons. Also the Skin Jobs. Before that was the Toasters. Also, on the Colony at the Black hole, there were some of the Original Centurions from the Lorne Greene series.
By bamberluvr at 4:11 PM ON 03/22/09
Pfyearwood -
While the Centurions looked like those from the original series, they were actually supposed to be the Centurions from the First Cylon War that were seen in flashbacks as well as on the ship that was later found in "Razor."
By Zandra at 9:59 AM ON 03/23/09
Didn't Ellen mention Daniel when she was resurrected? She made it sound like he was a cylon too.

I just wanted to observe that it would take a million years to travel a million light years at the speed of light....... Luckily, everyone in the BSG universe is equipped with FTL (Faster than Light) engines cutting the commute considerably I would imagine. So all is well as far as story continuity is concerned................phew!
