E! Online confirmed that Scarlett Johansson has signed on to Jon Favreau's Iron Man 2, taking over the role of Black Widow.
Johansson (The Spirit) steps in for Emily Blunt, who had to drop out because of a scheduling conflict with Gulliver's Travels.
The news confirms a rumor first reported by Entertainment Weekly.
"Scarlett is thrilled to be a part of Iron Man," Johansson's representative, Marcel Pariseau, told E!

Goddamn it. I can't stand Scarlett Johansson. She acts like she's hot, but she's more masculine than most male movie stars. Not to mention she's a huge diva. She's not a very good actress, and more over, she's nothing like Black Widow from the comics. This annoys me alot, might even be a deal breaker for me with Iron Man 2.

this isnt a deal breaker for me.i dont care if she isnt a great actress.iron man 2 still has downy, paltrow and rourke and favreou is a damn good director.
and how is she masculine and a diva???also bro...shes pretty hot...i dont see the masculine thing ur talkin about.

I love Scarlett Johansson, but I just don't see her as the Black Widow. I think Emily Blunt would have been a better choice; too bad they couldn't work it out. But, hey, maybe Scarlett will surprise me.
That's sort of strike two for casting Iron Man II. I think Don Cheadle is a terrific actor, but Terrance Howard should have continued to be Rhodey/War Machine.
With all that said, there's no such thing as a dealbreaker for me when it comes to Iron Man II, not after how awesome the first film was.

She's a terrible actress and she isn't all that pretty.

Sounds like a very bad casting choice. I guess they have a bunch of fanboys to convince about the casting choice on some conventions soon as usual.
Don't know much about the source material but Favreau did I nice job with the first one. Preproduction of Iron Man 2 seems already to be a disaster though.
It seems though that most of it may be Marvel's fault than Favreau but we'll see what all the comic fanboys and media says about this whole production debacle.

Hmm. I'm feeling much more equanimous than you guys about her, I think she stands a chance of being good, but here's what I'm thinking -
So far we've never seen her play a truly hella-strong female lead. She was sortof-strong in The Spirit but that can barely be called acting. She's never walked in to a scene and *taken charge* of the scene, she's not usually that type of character. That woman has to walk in and kick *Butt*.
Also, Scarlett doesn't work out, ever. She has a figure solely provided to her by God (which I happen to like apparently much more than you guys) but she doesn't work out. I have a hard time picturing the girl who's all-natural suddenly pulling out a roundhouse kick, a couple of pistol fires, then a leap-kick. I wonder if she's going to train for this flick, because I hate to say it, this is the one role she's going to *NEED* to Train and train HARD.
And lastly... are they gonna make her fake a russian accent? I wonder if she can.
All in all , she's never taken a role like this, so I'm not sure if she can do it. She'll have to *work* for it to make us buy it. If she wants it badly enough, maybe she will.

I am so tired of seeing people comment on someone like Scarlett Johansson and try to "buck the masses" by saying she is not attractive or even masculine. Most of the world agrees that she is 'hot'. Is that because everyone is stupid? No, it is because she IS 'hot'. If you think she is 'masculine', you are simply an a**. Is she right for the part, I do not know yet what I think about that. But 'masculine'? Hardly.

Yeah...so was Samuel Jackson a deal breaker for you too? After all, the Nick Fury I grew up with was so NOT like him at all.

And I'm pretty sure that Scarlett is hotter than your girlfriend. Call it a hunch.

Scarlett is VERY HOT.....AND SEXY! Any guy who doesn't thinks so is either gay or has a testosterone defficiency!

I assume you know about the Ultimate version of Nick Fury. If you do, you know it makes your comment invalid.

TheGigaShadow: He said the Nick Fury he grew up with. As you and I know The Ultimates Nick Fury is a more recent development that was designed with Sam Jackson in mind.
I would have preferred to see Emily Blunt in this role but if she was obligated to do something else then oh well.
Scarlett has a husky voice but I wouldn't say she is masculine. For the record the majority of movie fans think she is incredibly attractive, myself included. Those that think she isn't are entitled to their opinion though. I do agree though that she is not as talented an actress as Blunt or many others.

She's got a puffy face, a deep, raspy voice that just isn't feminine enough to be sexy. I'm not trying to buck any tread, she just isn't attractive. You'd think she would be, she's got a descent body and there isn't anything obviously wrong about her face. More over, her body language isn't feminine, she moves like a man. Sam Jackson as Nick Fury doesn't bother me, I'm just a big fan of Black Widow, a much bigger one than of Iron Man actually, that's why this is a deal breaker for me.

I love SJ, but dont see her as Black Widow. Needed someone taller, more athletic build. But I aint complaining, I'll see IM2 the dozen times I was going to anyway.
Why?? Because I AM IRON FAN!!!

There goes the movie. I'll still watch it, but she'll drag it down. She's a bad actress.
