The final theatrical onesheet poster has gone live on MySpace.com for J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Trek movie, and you can see it after the jump.
Paramount is also saying that "Star Trek explores the origins of James T. Kirk, Spock and the crew of the USS Enterprise from the original Star Trek series and how these iconic characters came together.
"John Cho, Ben Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Winona Ryder, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Eric Bana, Leonard Nimoy, Marlene Forte, Jimmy Bennett are starring." Star Trek opens May 8.

That really is the single worst possible movie poster for Star Trek I could possibly imagine...actually, I would not EVER imagine something as sorry as that.
Still going to the movie, but that poster would not convince me. Only the great trailers did that!

who ever created this poster truly hates Star Trek....
By parkin1976 at 3:54 AM ON 03/28/09
This simply CAN'T be real. Must be Paramount trying to fool all those who'll use this poster for pirate dvd / merchendise production, only to find out all to late its not the real McCoy (tee-hee).
'Course, if it IS real.....!

RE: Enterprise covered in a bedsheet:
In a bold move, J.J. Abrams has combined the original STAR TREK with the Irwin Allen show LAND OF THE GIANTS. The Enterprise, swooping low over the Land of the Giants, gets tangled in a clothesline...

Seems like there is a face "embedded" in the Enterprise's "warp shadow", whatever you call it.
Is it because they also want to portray the part on the space-time fabric? I read and heard there is a time-travel element involve in this movie?

Another question. At JJ abrams new job are you going to get fries with that?
This just aint bad it's ugly! It's sad. It makes me feel bad for all thoses who really tried to support aBrams right up to the end. If he's smart He'll grab a packing crate from the studio lot to sleep in may 10th.

Star Trek: No stars, and the trekking is more like a backwards sucking.
How does this represent Star Trek, or make me want to see the movie? I am worried that the series is in the hands of idiots. Also, Anyone notice other promos with Kirk's head look like DEXTER. Kirk looks like a serial killer.

It's funny how these Abrams-worshipping cultists still try to hang on to threads. First it was 'give Abrams a chance even though he doesn't like Star Trek'. Then it was 'give the movie a chance even though the previews suck'. Then it was 'give the writers a chance even though it sounds like they don't know what they're talking about'. Now it's 'give it a chance even though the poster sucks'. Sorry, but you already struck out at three.
By Anachronite at 5:19 PM ON 03/28/09
The poster is the worst poster in movie history. but dont judge a book by it's cover. the movie should be good knowing who is involved with it.

I think JJ went a little too literal with the cloaking device concept.
Besides don't they usually wait until after the patient is dead before covering them with a sheet?

By Informed Misery at 9:12 AM ON 03/29/09
I really do get tired of hearing people say, "Give the movie a chance."
We pre-judge movies all the time. We see previews at other movies, see ads online and on TV, and we make a decision right then about whether or not we think a movie looks good. And if the previews are crap, chances are good we're gonna think the movie is crap.
That said, let's be honest. We're gonna go see the new Star Trek. I haven't missed a Star Trek movie in the theaters since there have been Star Trek movies in the theaters. And even though it plays right into Paramount's hands, I'll go. And I will do my very best to keep an open mind.
But the previews for the movie and the comments from those involved tell me it's gonna suckaroo.
And yes, that is just a poster. But good lord... is it ever stupid.
By Meridian at 11:50 AM ON 03/29/09
Wow, if you guys had cried this much about Enterprise we might have seen seven seasons - it's a poster, get over it!

By Captain Jack Harkness at 12:47 PM ON 03/29/09
Please people, quit saying we're all going to go see this movie just because it's Star Trek. That's like telling me we're all going to join hands and sing Kumbaya and that so ain't happening. I've been a Trek fan since '66 and the last Trek film I saw in a theater was Generations (and wished I could get my money back). Don't sit there and tell me I will go watch any crap with a Trek label on it in a theater. I'll sit here watching and point and laugh while you go up and drink the kool-aid.
By Rob Wampum at 2:10 PM ON 03/29/09
OMG! I hate Star Trek, JJ Abrams, Robert Orci and everyone at Paramount right down to the janitors that clean the pee stains of the sides of toilets because of this new Star Trek movie. I might as well just put a gun in my mouth and pray to god that James Doohan will meet at the pearly gates and convince God that this one suicide is acceptable because of this travesty that they call Star Trek. This poster is the final straw! That's it! With no more real Star Trek, I leave this world....O GOD! NO! Q IS GOD!!!! NO THE TORMENT!!!!! AGGGHHHH!!!!!

Wow, for hating everything to do with this movie for the past 2 years, you all sure jump right out to keep talking about it. I think of this movie as the exgirlfriend you all still stalk... sure, you hate her... but she calls and you jump out the tree, across the street, and start knocking hoping to get 1 more in before you go back to talking about how much you hate the things you spend the most amount of time on. You dont like the movie, dont' see it. But, it's the same as not voting... you dont vote, you dont get a meaningful opinion. You dont see the movie, no one will care what you think of it.
Oh, and I'm kinda new to this.. so is this the point where I would say "flame on"? :D
By Rob at 5:23 PM ON 03/29/09
Actually, I think this is the point where you just jump out a window because not only do you not know what you are talking about, nobody cares.

For all you Abrams lovers out there who don't know sh*t, I mean Trek from Shinola, here's what Real Star Trek is supposed to look like.
By Abrams Fan at 8:06 PM ON 03/29/09
That video from Jack's link was stupid! Only Abram's Star Trek is real Star Trek. Whoever made that awful video should be shot! The ship's warp drive nacelles didn't even look right. They were too skinny and not big enough. Also the deflector dish wasn't even lit up like it's supposed to be! Was that one guy supposed to be a Romulan? Romulans are bald & have tattoos! Don't they know anything? Only my god, JJ Abrams, can do Star Trek & as far as I'm concerned, nothing else exists!
By Justo at 8:14 PM ON 03/29/09
I feel like a dad coming in on his kids fighting over the tv remote everytime I read the comments for a Star Trek movie post.
Star Trek nerds upset about this movie, get over it. Honestly, you're just making yourself even more unlikable. Just try to be socially polite for once. This is your chance!! This is your opportunity to be even slightly accepted into the main stream. For once you won't be shunned out right. Enjoy your 15 minutes of geeky acceptance and use it to your advantage. This is your shot to make Star Trek popular again and keep it alive. Your dismissal of this movie just makes you seem all the more unpleasant and hurts the franchise overall. You're not going to make the community grow by acting like crazed angry nerds every time some fan of this movie comes along. And this movie is the only thing that has any chance of keeping this franchise alive. The old series have aged terribly, as have many of the movies. Save for a handful of classic episodes and Wrath of Khan, you've got nothing. This is your last chance at redemption and you're already blowing it. If I were a Star Trek fan I'd be ashamed of my community.

Ever see an X-Ray image of air flying around an object traveling through hard vacuum?
I agree with Captain Jack. Considering J. Michael Straczinski (creator of Babylon 5) pitched this very same story idea of the B-universe showing the origins of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy to paramount years ago. Not surprisingly paramount took the idea and ran with it (without Straczinski) who I believe would have made a better star trek than abrams. We definitely wouldn't have I-Enterprise (the new one looks like an I-Pod on the inside). I am going to go see the new film, but the footage for Jack's video link appear to be the original footage (thus making it the REAL trek).

ABRAMS FAN: Well what do you think of the new Trek movie?
STAR TREK FAN: I don’t like it.
ABRAMS FAN: Really why not? I think it’s just the thing to reboot the series.
STAR TREK FAN: Well, based on the trailer there seem to be quite a few things that don’t make any logical sense. Like A boy who grew up in the 23rd century driving a 20th century car and a gigantic multi million ton starship being constructed on the ground. Also they seem to have just dispensed with the established continuity of Trek history by using this time incursion plot device. I don’t think they really care about the fans.
ABRAMS FAN: MY GOD! WHAT ARE YOU SOME KIND OF ANGRY NERDY GEEK OR SOMETHING! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU! STOP CRYING AND BITCHING ABOUT ALL THE TINIEST LITTLE CANONICAL DETAILS AND GET OVER YOURSELF!!
IT’S ONLY A MOVIE!!!
Get it? or do I need to explain?

I am amazed when ever i come to writing in these blogs. as a fan of trek and i mean all of them tos to ent and even some of the fanflicks. I see the same baseless ridicule and harping every time something new comes along. If there is a choice between Trek or no Trek i choose Trek. A Real Fan will not only accept this as a good idea but actually support the movie to keep the franchise going. IDIC infinite diversity in infinite combinations=new stuff bad stuff good stuff and old stuff, if you can't accept it deal with it. Star Trek in any form is a good thing it will attach itself to hjigher learning advance the technological realities we take for granted today and give us hope that our pig headed world leaders would take a stand to create a world better to live in than continue bickering over Real estate.
BTW it took two Pilots to let Star Trek become a show and the fans to keep it alive. you want Star Trek to be better pick up a pen and start writing let someone read it and if they tell you it's crap too bad the thing is it is your crap and no one can take that away from you.
J.J. Thanks for even attempting to revive this series you put forth a lot of money and effort and I commend you. For those that complain just to complain you are the ones that Paramount listened to for Enterprise and Jericho. Thanks for trying to get more reality programing put on the air I get so much enjoyment from dancing and singing and brown nosing just to make a buck or reestablish a sagging carer. For the Intelligence limited I am being facetious. I hate where TV has gone and I await the day when we all throw open the window and Scream at the top of our lungs "I'm as mad as hell, and I am not going to take it anymore!"
By Rob at 12:20 PM ON 03/30/09
The idea isn't bad. It's the way it's being done that is wrong. I was all for this movie & evan gave Abrams a chance, but seeing what's been done only angers the fan base. New Trek is not a bad idea. Something that claims to be Trek but isn't is a bad idea.

I think Mel Brooks, a producer, said it best in his works whose titles are drawn on the profession in question:
"The two cardinal rules of producing. One: Never put your own money in the show...(Two:) NEVER PUT YOUR OWN MONEY IN THE SHOW!"

I am in the movie business and love science fiction films but the marketing people really screwed up this poster. If you are trying to get main stream people into the movie theater why make a movie poster that is just going to scare people from seeing the new star trek movie. This poster is a negative for the marketing campaign. The movie trailers have been really good. But this poster is a big negative. If I where paramount I would immediatley release different poster that will appeal to not just star trek fans but to the general audience at large.
