Haunted inns and Titanic spirits in new Ghost Hunters

SCI FI's Ghost Hunters heads to Philadelphia and New Hampshire and investigates places such as Betsy Ross' house and the Hansom House when it returns for a new season on Wednesday.

"We're getting into more of the homes again, but we're still doing the big locations," said star Grant Wilson, who participated in a conference call with fellow ghost-hunting plumber Jason Hawes about the upcoming fifth season. "We've brought in new equipment, and that yields new types of evidence."

"We got some strange things this year," Hawes added. "We caught some great evidence and great visuals and great audio. Some other neat little things."

Hawes added: "We did Star Island, which is an island about 10 miles off the coast of New Hampshire, which was a religious community at one time. They've had a lot of claims of activity going out there."

One of the coolest cases the team will investigate is at the Georgia Aquarium, the largest aquarium in the world, Wilson said. "And they have a traveling Titanic exhibit with actual artifacts from the Titanic," he added. "And everywhere that goes, every museum that goes to, supposedly activity follows. So we caught up with it in Georgia, and I had just an interesting time there dealing with the Titanic artifacts."

One other location the guys couldn't help but get involved with is the Spalding Inn, a haunted inn that Hawes and Wilson bought. When members of their families began having experiences, they brought in the Ghost Hunters International team to investigate.

While the ghost hunters are excited about the commercial locations they visited this season, for them it's all about the residential cases. One in particular affected them.

"It involved a child, and the family believed that there was a negative entity in the home," Hawes said, adding: "So these people are terrified. Terrified for their safety. Terrified, you know, for their child. Nobody's sleeping at night. They're actually leaving their home to go rent hotels and stuff."

Hawes added: "It's just really sad. And being a father of five myself, that's one of those things that really pulls at your heartstring. Yeah, any time a child's involved in a case, that really, ... it brings you to a point which you just, you don't know what you can do, but you have to do something."

Eight new episodes of Ghost Hunters will air this spring, with the remaining 17 episodes airing later in the year.

"We're looking for answers. We're looking for the truth, and we're also trying to help out as many people as we can," Hawes said. Ghost Hunters premieres on the SCI FI Channel on Wednesday, March 11, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Paint me as one of the folks who despise these shows. They are nonsense. If they were presnted as FICTION maybe they'd be of interest. But they are not. The are presented as a "reality" show and there is nothing real about them.

This show is great. You not only get to see some great locations but you also get to see into the lives of people who live with the ghosts. It is great fun

I absolutely LOVE "Ghost Hunters" with Jason and Grant. The team they are working with now is my favorite by far. Steve, Tango and Kris work really well together. Please keep "Ghost Hunters" on the air. My Wednesdays would be so empty if they were not there!

I don't miss a one of your shows, I love each and everyone of you! Rumor here (Danville, PA.) is that you may be coming to our town court house, if this is true my uncle's Haunted house is about 15 miles away in a town called Milton, PA. can you go there too maybe. There are nights that the ghosts make so much noise my uncle has to sleep on the couch! Let me know at thegolsons@hotmail.com. Keep up the GREAT WORK you do! GOD BLESS

I watch the show all the time but seems like they're always seeing some figure walk by and yet they NEVER catch it on camera... hmmmm, and whats up with them starting to supposedly get action and then quitting cause its getting late? thats soo stupid u would think if there getting some evidence that there is something paranormal they would stay and check it out further right i dunno i like the show but im starting to believe they fake alot of it just to make people keep watching hoping that someday something might happen but yet it never does

I have seen most of all of the shows and was wondering why there aren't new ones this season yet. Also, a question for the ghost experts. If a spirit takes up residence in a home and that home burns down to the ground, does that spirit die again?

By BeckyC at 8:31 PM ON 06/02/09

Hey - where's Brian??? I haven't seen him for a while. Love Dave T and Andrew. They're neat guys and enjoy how they work.

By Vaporiza at 7:04 PM ON 06/08/09

I don't see much of Donna. Is she thinking of leaving? I think she was pretty descent, very serious in her work, however in the few last shows I did see her in, she was either getting sick, not feeling well in a particular room or not investigating. Is hunting or the spiritual thing getting to her in some way? Hope she returns, she seemed to keep everyone in line, motherhen or not, you go girl- in whatever decision you make.

By msbren06 at 3:16 PM ON 06/30/09

I was very impressed with the Titanic show and really think it needs to be investigated further to find out more on the spirit who did not want you to leave; who stated "no, please wait. I will be there in Sept and am very excited to visit the exhibit.
