I think this could be cool. I've seen some really nice fan art depicting Edward, Bella, and the other characters as anime. It would be a nice way to explore the story and special powers of the vampires, after the movies are completed.

I think that will be a huge hit because many of the Twilight characters are interpreted as anime over there in Japan.Just hope they air it in the U.S. too:D.Though now that I remeber Stephanie Meyer had said something about not liking the idea of Twilight as an anime series.It was in an interview and a couple of articles last year.

I haven't read the books and have absolutely no desire to see the movie, but I have to admit, I can see this working as an anime. A young girl in love with mysterious boy with amazing powers, drawn into an increasingly supernatural world - that describes 50% of the existing anime series out there, why not throw Twilight into the mix?

Uh... I think Hardwicke is confused. Maybe she overheard a conversation about how the "Vampire Knight" anime and manga is the closest thing there is to "Twilight" in Japan, but I doubt there will be an anime adaption. I'm sure otaku fansites would have revealed information like this by now.

Okay here we go. Stephanie Meyer, as much as everyone hates to hear it, is a MEDIOCRE author. I know everyone gets all nice and tingly about a vampire romance (wow its totally original!) but honestly she is not a good writer. The series just caught mainstream America at a time when vampires could bring about a lot of enthusiasm, espescially from the younger audiences. The movies were almost good despite the large amount of corny teenage heartthrob....Back to the topic at hand.
If you wanna watch bad anime, watch something like BoBo-Bobobobo (sorry any fans) or pokemon. We do not need anything else mucking up something the japanese cartoon industry.

There definately seems to be some mixed opinions on this subject.
I personally think, if handled correctly twilight would make an awesome anime. It could run closer to the novel and maybe a lot darker than the live action movie.
It would have to steer clear of the total cutesy shojo style. That seems to have flooded the western market. That would destroy it.
Maybe along the lines of stuff by Shirow, or Cowboy Beebop and Vampire Hunter D. A bit more grown up.
I do agree though, that its main themes have been done before. Who knows!
