Marvel Studios pushed back the release date of Thor, Captain America and The Avengers in a schedule shuffle it said was designed to maximize the visibility of its single-character superhero films, leading to the highly anticipated release of the multi-character Avengers.
Iron Man 2 remains on track for release on May 7, 2010. Spider-Man 4 remains slated for release on May 6, 2011.
Thor moves to June 17, 2011, from its original July 16, 2010, release date.
The First Avenger: Captain America is pushed back to July 22, 2011, from May 6, 2011.
The Avengers gets a new release date of May 4, 2012, moved from July 15, 2011.
"This new schedule strongly sequences Marvel's movie debut dates, big-screen character introductions and momentum," David Maisel, chairman of Marvel Studios, said in a statement.
A Marvel character-based film will now launch the summer box-office season for three years in a row, from 2010 through 2012.

The Marvel-ous summer! If they hold to this schedule, in 2011 we'll have IM in May, Thor in June, and Cap in July. Awesome!

I would have loved to have seen a sequal to The Incredible Hulk. It was a great restart to the story and could have gone much further.

I agree. I too would like to see another Incredible Hulk movie.
What's happening with the F4? Will there be a 3rd? Any tie in's to the current Marvel story plots?

Is that a mistake? I could've swore Ironman 2 was coming in 2010 & Spiderman in 2011. Somebody let me know if I'm wrong.

@ Joe Asap
You are corrent i think SciFi Wire might have messed up the dates for those two.

Spiderman 4 is actually going to be out in 2011. There are no marvel films to be released in 2010.

Not true Methos...
Iron Man is still a May 2010 release. How do I know? Because I AM IRON FAN!!!!

Iron Man 2, I meant to say...

It's nice to have a schedule but it's more important to have decent scripts, directors, and actors lined up...
:-)
The last thing Marvel needs is another Punisher disaster

Yeah a Spider-man 4 in May 2010 just doesn't seem possible, unless it stars that guy from Supernatural with that girl from Gossip Girl with that director from that one movie about the ruins...

Who does everyone think they should go after to play Cap? I'd love to see Nathan Filion

Ke Said "What's happening with the F4? "
Fantastic 4 is a no go. I don't remember the actor name, but who ever played the Torch was quoted a month or so ago saying, that there would be not be any more F4 movies.
I say that is a good thing. They were great if you were 12 or under, but I thought they were just Comic book light. Both of the F4 movies lacked the bite and grit of Hulk, Spiderman, or Ironman.

I'm really worried about casting, particularly for Cap and Thor. I was appalled at the rumor that Jake Gyllenhaal might be the DC Captain Marvel/Shazzam. These actors run too short and lean to be Cap and Thor. And please save me from any more professional wrestlers bridging to acting. The characters need to be good old fashion supermen in size and presence, especially Thor. Robert Downey Jr is a great Tony Stark, but the armor allows a normal sized man to play him. Of FF casting only the Torch was good. Thing wasn't bad, but he should have been almost Hulk-Sized, and Michael Chiklis is short even in Hollywood. Jessica Alba just did not make a believable true blonde Invisible Woman. The temptation to cast a proven actor in these roles is going to likely ruin them.

You're right, we swapped the release dates for Iron Man 2 and Spider-Man 2. We've fixed them.

Envisioning an X-Men/F4/Avengers scrum on the big screen....won't happen but still...

It is being reported on http://www.iesb.net/ that THE FANTASTIC FOUR is being rebooted. Completely recast. Hope that doesn't mean they are starting over and telling the origin story again.

Does anybody know what the story is on the Ant-man movie?
By ROBODOM at 9:21 AM ON 03/13/09
What's the story line looking like for Thor? I had heard they were considering Asgard as a major part of the story but hope that's wrong. Non comic fans wouldn't appreciate it and after the slop that was the FF/Silver Surfer the story is going to need to be more compelling to keep the Comic Movies coming on strong.

I am a little suspicious of movies being pushed back, Marvel or not. Let's look at Fanboys for an example. Was supposed to be a blockbuster. Kept getting delayed, then delayed again, and yet another delay. I think it was delayed for nearly a year and a half. A week or two ago when I checked, it had made $400,000. That's it. So, my point being, there's a price to be paid for pushing movies back. Maybe it'll pay off for Marvel, maybe not. Tread lightly.

I think the pushing of a movie release date back for a reason such as needing to get the solo stories up and running first is a good thing. I do like others here worry about the casting though.
Personally I am most looking forward to Captain America, and really really hope they don't screw that one up.

I, too, like Nathan Fillion as Cap.

Just my two cents, all the guys they've been talking about for "Cap" would be mistakes... I do think Paul Walker would be a good fit though... he looks like he could be the all-American, grounded, humble, yet patriotic butt-kicking dude that Captain America is... he seems cool and positive, the other guys have baggage that disminishes from the character... Paul isn't a mega-star, and he also has the build (chick-factor).
