A day after Variety reported that Paramount had staked out a July 1, 2011, release date for a third Transformers movie, director Michael Bay has chimed in on his official blog to say: No way!
"I said I was taking off a year from Transformers," Bay wrote on his official forum. "Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3. They asked me on the phone. I said yes to July 4—but for 2012—whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots."
The post confirms at least that Bay is considering directing the third installment, about which there has been no other information except the release date.

It would be great to see another Transformers in 2011 but you can totally see how he would need a break. I would be curious to see if more money would change his mind...we'll see. Still we got Transformers 2 to look forward to...

I hope they don't rush him into it. A franchise of this caliber needs the time to develop proper. Plus, I don't want them to ruin the franchise I grew up on every Saturday morning.

Just say 'no' altogether, Bay and let someone with vision and talent make a Transformers film.

Let someone else do it... yes... I can see ti already....
The rubber suits will be beautiful! The tween actors will be breath taking! My God! It will be full of stars!
Seriously. Before Bay, no one else would touch this project. Give credit where it's due.

So many haters, such as Photoboy. Why? Like Valkyrie said, he's the only director who went past the initial thoughts of "Oh, that cartoon from the 80's??!?! How can you make a film about that?" And what an awesome job he did while paying respect to both the original 80's series and the most recent Transformers Animated (I haven't seen all the versions in between, so I can't comment).
