Morris Chestnut is set as a lead in ABC's sci-fi drama pilot V, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In other pilot casting news, Jon Bernthal and Johann Urb have been added to ABC's witch-themed drama pilot Eastwick.

V is a re-imagining of the original 1980s miniseries, about an invasion of aliens known as Visitors and the resistance against them. It will center on a female Homeland Security agent.

Chestnut will play the woman's boyfriend, who has a dark secret: He is a Visitor.

Eastwick follows three young witches who come into their powers. Bernthal (The Ghost) will play the unemployed husband of one of them (Jaime Ray Newman). Urb (2012) will play a local news photographer/volunteer fireman who is the object of affection of another (Lindsay Price).

One of the things that always bothered me about the old series was the Visitors wore their body suits even amongst themselves on their ship. Also, the suits covered them from head to toe, allowing them to pass for human to engage in sex with another person.

Once the Visitors took off their suits, they were revealed to have very inhuman bone structure and have teeth and tongues that were reptilian. So, did the body suits have fake tongues?

I just hope the new show has a better explanation for the aliens human suits.

BTW, didn't it seem lame that Aliens wanted to use humans as food? Wouldn't it be easier to eat cows or other meat sources than humans? Don't cows, sheep, pigs, chickens and other farm animals reproduce and grow to maturity much faster?

Yeah, there are 6 billion humans on the Earth but how many are consumable? Let's say you have 50 million aliens who need a new home. Wouldn't it be easier to settle them on a portion of Australia and provide them with food that for them to conquer Earth and start human meat processing operations?

Yet another old time favorite is going to be "Re-Imagined" to death by some brainless hack writer who couldn't come up with an original idea of his own. I think they should do a pure remake. The thing about the old miniseries which was so good was the parallel they drew to Nazi Germany. I just have the feeling they are going to butcher this one the same way they did Battlestar Galactica and Knightrider...

I agree this is getting frustrating that no one can come up with new ideas. Instead everyone is remaking old classics and in the process is ruining them. Ex: Battlestar Galatica, Knight Rider, Night Stalker

By whoareyou??? at 3:21 PM ON 03/04/09

Okay, that is it!!!! I keep hearing so many people say that the new Battlestar Galatica sucks. So why don't you explain yourself and say your reasons for it? Cause I think that the new Battlestar Galatica is the best show i have ever seen.

I jhave decided it is time for me to saty away from all the YARM (yet another remake) as I personally have had enough already.
I watch BG but after that I won't watch this new V or any other YARM.I will check out any new shows/movies that aren't YARM but screw this old stuff rebooted or whatever you want to call it.

I'm just glad J.J. Abrams has nothing to do with this. I liked the old Ve when i was a teen in the 80's. A more with our times version could be fun. I'm tired of every other newwork show be a Cop show or a sad "Game Show"

I liked the original v miniseries and not so much the "final battle" series. The ending was weak for final battle. They did fire Ken Johnson who was the creator of the whole thing and gave it a sappy, lovey-dovey ending instead of telling the story Johnson originally began. So you could say the original V series (albeit, the V - the final battle series) was ruined by a hack writer also. No one could get the true story told the way Leonardo Cimino did. The story his character told his character's son really got to me.

We must take a stand against YARMs!!! We must take these unimaginative hack writers and feed them to the Visitors.

ARe you people insane here? BSG is considered one of the best shows made PERIOD. You are upset because it requires real thought and acting? No you are devasted because the same brilliant twist COULD happen to an 80's show that could never hold up today??!! Go back to your VCR machines and eight tracks, losers.

Nathan Zamprogno you have such a bombastic view, you must see the world through the proverbial coke bottle glasses. I read your link and made sure to discriminate every word. You ripped at Galactica like it was some indiscretion pasted upon society. You may have your right to think as you do, but you shouldn’t be so blatant in disregard toward someone else’s shows. I have some respect toward the original version of Galactica, however I can look back at it and see how campy the whole premise was. It needed reimaging, badly. It needed a complete revamp, as it were. The new Battlestar Galactica may not be a true breed in regards to how it related to the original, but it however is a more believable genre story that is easier to watch. I’m not a fan of the old slap-stick comedy, cardboard cutouts, bad is bad and good is good. I have nothing against the fact that you are, I only say that not everyone is like you… SO what’s with this virtual fifty thousand word essay that you made to dishevel the new Galactica series? Don’t bother to answer cause I’m sure I don’t want to read another fifty thousand word reply.

gorehound696: Fancy acronym that you came up with there… And as mentioned, not everyone believes that there is anything wrong with reimaging or rebooting. Knight Rider may have its problems, admitted, but I enjoy watching it. Original Knight Rider may have been more solid, but looking back it was still campy and had way too many Duke’s of Hazard style of turbo-jumps. A new V coming out sound interesting and I look forward to seeing it. I have the original V series on DVD and can see how campy the “mother-ships” looked and how the special effects were lacking. But, it was good for its time. I think different people will have different ideas on how they would make a reimaged V… but only a very limited few have the money to actually make the show. So, let’s have an open mind and watch these reimaged/reboots and enjoy them for what they are… another way of seeing things as they are.

the original is a total cult classic, and I'm hoping the remake does justice, because this is one of those series that probably could have done with an update. I just hope they don't screw it up. And keep that theme song - its the best!

By Requiem1971 at 1:56 AM ON 03/05/09

aggy: I hear ya there. Even with the off effects in the origional, it was good story. There is so much potential for the show. I hope I that when I do see this reimage that I don't see storm clouds appear and find inside an ID4 ship... lol

By sparrrownightmare at 10:14 AM ON 03/05/09

Okay. First off on the BG issue... It's sucks, plain and simple. You have this worn out of captain who is more pathetic than even his alcoholic one eyes cylon first officer, who I won;t even bother getting into. They are flying around on a rusted old ship which looks like most of it's armor plate has been removed. They are having to cowtow to some psycho school teacher who thinks she is the messiah... I mean they even had to throw in a bone to the current batch of bible thumping yuppies with Baltar as the new prophet.. Any scifi series which has to bring in religion as a major story point is in trouble. This show is barely SciFi anymore. And, it is DEFINITELY NOT Battlestar Galactica, just some lame poser show. Now onto V... The first miniseries was great. I must have sold a few hundred custom made Visitor uniforms to the convention crowds. The Final Battle miniseries started out pretty good, but really fell apart by the ending. Once again they started bringing in religion and it all went to Hades. I will not even comment on that ridiculous, short lived (thankfully) excuse for a series. If they had done something which tied in with the end of the first miniseries, they might have had something. I see this new remake as probably going down the crapper in a similar way to BG. This what happenswhen you have a bunch of lazy n-talent hack writers who are just trying to get every dollar they can with the least amount of effort.
