Scott Wolf is set to co-star on ABC's sc-fi drama pilot V, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
V, from Warner Brothers TV, is a remake of the original miniseries, set in the future, in which the human race is ruled by aliens known as the Visitors. Wolf will play a career-obsessed TV newscaster who becomes the aliens' propaganda outlet.
Written on spec by The 4400 co-creator/executive producer Scott Peters, the new V will center on a female Homeland Security agent.
Peters is executive-producing the pilot with HDFilms principal Jason Hall.

Of all the shows to remake, "V" is not one of them. I loved the original miniseries and the tv show was ok, but I do not think they will have the same success that Battlestar Galactica. Look how poorly Bionic Woman did and how bad Knight Rider is...

I loved V - The Original Miniseries, that was a phenomenon! V - The Final Battle went a bit cartoony with a cop-out ending (and the absence of original writer/director Kenneth Johnson was really apparent), V- The Series was Dynasty in Space. For kids. Not good.
I will be watching this "reimagining" with some curiosity, but I for one am looking forward to (and keeping fingers crossed for) Kenneth Johnson's movie theatre remake of V & subsequent sequel V - The Second Generation (already in novel form & it's BRILLIANT!).

People might find this a tad hypocritical of me (given my postings on the Star Trek movie) but I for one will NOT be watching this train wreck. Not because I don't think V should be remade, it should, but because of the circumstances surrounding its creation.
In 2003, NBC announced it was reviving V as a TV movie with Kenny Johnson back at the helm. He wrote a script (which eventually became his novel, The Second Generation) that NBC loved so much they expanded their support from a 2-hour movie to a 4-hour miniseries.
But then nervous nellies at the network decided that V was too dated, and that Kenny should first re-make the original miniseries before creating a sequel. He and NBC then went through about 4 years of wrangling, while The Second Gernation languished pre-production purgatory. Kenny, perhaps seeing the writing on the wall, then published his script as a novel, still confident that the bosses at NBC or somewhere would come through and he'd get V before the cameras.
Then Warner Bros. did an end-run around Kenny and made a deal with ABC to "re-imagine" V, with the people in charge of The Final Battle/V the Series back in charge.
This is not a rant against re-imagining. This is a rant against theft of intellectual property. To make a deal with Kenny Johnson to revive his original story, only to string him along until ultimately deciding to do a deal with someone else, is unconscionable. Call me the Rush Limbaugh of V. I want this to fail.

The original show was an allegory about the rise of fascism and had everyday people coming together to form a resistance. Flash forward to the remake and now the star is a Homeland/Motherland/Fatherland Security agent. Kind of missing the point, I think.

Matheus,
It's ironic that you would use the words "flash forward" since there is a new show called "Flash Forward" starring an FBI/Homeland Security agent who investigates a sci-fi mystery.
Oh, and wasn't the 4400 about a Homeland Security agent who investigates a sci-fi mystery???!!!
Oh, and isn't Fringe about an FBI agent who investigates a sci-fi mystery?!!!!
Enough with the science fiction shows built around cops of different branches of the U.S. federal government!
I'll give the show a chance but I'm VERY turned off with ANOTHER show about sci-fi feds!
BTW, did you know that the Sci-Fi Channel is launching a show called Warehouse 13 about FBI agents who investigate sci-fi mysteries???!!!!!
Argh!!!!!!!!!!

I watched the original "V" when I was a kid and enjoyed it. If I saw it now, I'd probably think it was dated too. The concept is a good one. If they make it right, it could be entertaining.

I don't want Rafe's head to esplode, but The X-Files was also about FBI agents exploring sci-fi mysteries. There was also UPN's shortlived "Special Unit 2."
And yeah, I agree, it's a premise that's been done to death.

At this point, I'm now waiting for one of the networks to do a remake of MANIMAL. Or perhaps THE POWERS OF MATTHEW STAR.

Another intelligent sci-fi premise flushed away because of politics and greed. Bunch of non-creative pansies!

This is an insult to the original series. Why can't Hollywood be original?
Ditto on Knight Rider & Bionic Woman flop.
Stop destroying the 80s - please!!!!!

How about a remake of Riptide, except in this version, the Roboz achieves sentience and plots to destroy the earth?
Frak, I just gave someone an idea, didn't I?

I loved the miniseries and while dated by todays standards, I'm still nostalgic for the eighties costumes.
As for remakes how about Automan. With today's CGI that would work for sure *cough*BS*cough*
