Supernatural angel Misha Collins reveals season-ending spoilers

\<i\>Supernatural\<\/I\> angel Misha Collins reveals season-ending spoilers

Misha Collins, who plays the angel Castiel on The CW's Supernatural, told SCI FI Wire that he will return as a series regular now that the show's been picked up for a fifth season and promised that his winged character will kick some ass in the near future. Collins also offers us a few spoilers for the rest of this season.

Following is an edited version of our exclusive interview with Collins. Supernatural airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Well, the show has been picked up for a fifth season, and you are now going to be a series regular. How does that feel?

Collins: Good, good. It feels great to be a series regular. I mean, you get more money, for starters [laughs]. Which never hurts. And I'm excited to have a job lined up for next year and not have to wonder where my next meal is coming from.

You're moving to Vancouver, Canada, where the show shoots?

Collins: Yeah. I'm actually looking forward to moving to Vancouver. I've lived in Los Angeles for 10 years, and it feels like a good time to spend a little time out of the city. I love Los Angeles, and I'm sure I'll miss it, but I'm also kind of hankering for a change. It feels like everything is moving according to plan.

Your character, Castiel, is accused by Anna [Julie McNiven] of not being able to feel real emotion, but he seems to have a real affection for Dean [Jensen Ackles]. How do you work with that sort of dichotomy?

Collins: Yes, how do you explain the homoerotic tension [laughs]? ... I think that it's sort of, by the transitive property, he's beginning to feel emotion ever so slightly. That's my answer to the question. By his proximity to Dean, some of Dean's human properties are beginning to rub off on Castiel. And he's starting to feel, and I think that he doesn't really know how to interpret the feelings.

I wondered if something like what happened to the character Anna will happen to Castiel. Do you think it's possible that this could result in a situation where he would decide not to be an angel anymore (like Anna did) if he gets too close to Dean and his human emotion?

Collins: I have no idea what they're going to do next year, but since they've established that angels can fall and feel emotion and have real human experiences, it stands to reason that they're at minimum going to flirt with that possibility with Castiel. It seems like it would heighten the dramatic tension nicely. And it would be really fun to play that as an actor, experiencing that for the first time. Feeling emotion.

There's this great Wim Wenders movie, Wings of Desire, ... the Nicolas Cage movie City of Angels was sort of a remake of that German movie. In Wings of Desire, Bruno Ganz, who is the actor in that film, he's an angel who falls and then begins to feel human emotion and goes through a transformation. And watching him go through that transformation is so cool, and playing that myself is an exciting prospect, so I hope they go in that direction. That would be really fun.

Supernatural_JaredPadalecki_300.jpg

Jared Padalecki

So are we going to get to see your wings? Not just the shadow of them?

Collins: I have a suspicion that the wings, ... there is no way that they would fail to disappoint. And, you know, since we've just seen them as shadows, no one knows what they really look like. Maybe they're actually only 3 inches tall [laughs].

Now, you don't want people to think you have small wings ...

Collins: No, no.

That would be embarrassing.

Collins: I would be trying to find wing enlargement.

I'm sure someone has that on the Internet.

Collins: That's right.

So, unlike the vampires in Twilight, who seem to have no enemies, there are creatures that can beat you. So will we see any new powers from Castiel? Will there be more ass-kicking this season?

Collins: Yeah, you know, it's funny. For all of Castiel's near-omnipotence, in the fights that he's had so far, he's gotten his ass kicked. There's going to be a couple much more brutal fight scenes this season, where Castiel, if not wins the fights, at least holds his ground a little better than he has in the past. So, yeah, maybe he's getting his sea legs.

Are we going to see any more angels? I know we've got Castiel, Uriel [Robert Wisdom] and Anna ...

Collins: You know, I don't know if I'm supposed to talk about it, but I'm going to just say yes. I think you're going to meet my angel boss.

Do angel bosses wear suits?

Collins: I actually haven't seen what my angel boss is wearing, but we all seem to be fairly well dressed [laughs]. ...

So are we going to find out more about the body Castiel took over?

Collins: We're going to meet the guy who Castiel possesses, and he's a devout man, which was stated earlier. And we've already shot that, and it was a lot of fun to shoot a whole different character from Castiel.

Did anyone see Collins on Nip/Tuck where he played a way too flexible yoga master who pleasured himself too often?

It was hilarious!

By helena at 10:15 AM ON 03/11/09

I see it, and it was GREAT ))))) So hilarious and Misha was adorable )))

By Gabe at 10:21 AM ON 03/11/09

I'm glad Supernatural is finally getting a proper new main cast member. Castiel has a lot of potential that they could play around with. I'd rather they put some effort into a new player and the mythology instead of dragging out the angst between the two leads.

By Leah at 10:28 AM ON 03/11/09

And with this Supernatural is another show altogether. I have nothing against Misha but it's no longer the saga of two brothers fighting evil. it's much moe of a CW soap.

But I have had the feeling Jared is on his way out all season so I guess this confirms it. Sam and Dean is becoming Cas and Dean.

Well at least Kripke took away the incest nuisance for the fans. It's all legit now.

I can only hope they at least give Sam a decent goodbye ep and not just let him fade out.

By ima at 10:49 AM ON 03/11/09

Castiel is hardly useful in season 4, now he's gonna be around for entire season? Thanks Kripke. And I don't care about whose body Castiel possessed.

By hermitme at 11:08 AM ON 03/11/09

I'm very glad that Castiel will be on as a regular for season 5 and can't wait to see more interaction between Castiel and Dean. The boys need outside characters in order to grow and for 2 seasons we've had Ruby. I'm quite ready for Castiel and for Dean to have a character that he can relate to.
Also, kudos to Misha, who seems to be extremely intelligent, has a great sense of humor, and already understands not only his character, but also the Winchesters, very well.

By Dani at 11:15 AM ON 03/11/09

Great news! I love Castiel, but I hope they don't turn him into another tortured soul since we get that enough from the Winchesters.

I hope they don't phase out Sam like Leah is saying but I wish they'd wrap up his demon power story already. It feels like it should have ended 2 seasons ago, some of the dialogue that comes out of it is gag-worthy, and the faces the actor makes while using the powers is too ridiculous to take seriously.

By Mar G Wan at 11:36 AM ON 03/11/09

Ugghhhh gag me with a spoon, this show is supposed to be about Sam and Dean not Dean and his fanboy Castiel, some of us don't even love Dean so to have to put up with the excessive overload of this season and now Castiel as well, jesus christ. It's so depressing.

I miss Sam and his relevance it's high time they remembered there were two leads to this show.

It's rapidly becoming unrecognisable to the show I fell in love with.

By ozzybean at 11:39 AM ON 03/11/09

Cool! I'm completely jazzed that Castiel will become a regular next season! I gotta agree with Gabe, an additional regular allows the leads to develop new relationships with not only the new guy but also each other.

Plus, walking in Castiels shoe's and not just seeing him from the perspective of Dean will answer a lot of our questions about angels.

And I don't think you have anything to worry about, Leah! This show is all about family, family, family. The only thing that can get between the siblings is each other!

By Lara at 11:54 AM ON 03/11/09

I LOVE Castiel and Misha, so I'm really glad to hear that he's coming back next season. I do love the intensity/chemistry between Misha and Jensen! And it's great to hear Misha say that Castiel really likes and appreciates Dean's human qualities.

To Leah -- I hadn't heard that Jared was on his way out this season. Hmm. Well, Jensen seems excited to be on the show based on all of the interviews of his that I've seen. And I'll still be excited to see what happens to Dean.

I think this is the best season so far (the show's ratings are at an all time this season at the CW too!). I can't wait to see what Kripke has in store for us next season.

By Lisa at 12:09 PM ON 03/11/09

Great news! Awesome character played by a really good actor. Love Castiel, love the developing relationship with Dean and look forward to his addition to the cast. He's been horribly underserved this season as Dean's story was started and dropped early on. I want to see that thread picked back up. Now if they'd just dump the disastrous Ruby recast (I don't care who she's banging off screen, the girl cannot act), maybe I could get interested in Sam again, but as long as he's stuck in hell with that stick of wood for an acting partner, just can't bring myself to care.

By cape105 at 12:38 PM ON 03/11/09

That was Misha on Nip/Tuck?I didnt even recognize him. Anyway I think this has been Supernaturals best season yet.

By joe at 1:09 PM ON 03/11/09

The man knows his stuff, Wim Wender's Wings of Desire is required viewing for any existentialist.

By The Other Mar-G-Wan at 1:19 PM ON 03/11/09

Well this Mar-G-Wan is incredibly happy that Castiel is going to have an expanded role next season. I used to be one of those people who wanted nothing but the brothers and honestly I still just want a small cast with the main focus of the storyline being on the Winchesters.

But if the only way for Dean to have a halfway decent storyline of his own is to add Castiel then I'm all for it.

The only way for SAM to come into his own is without Dean and Dean would have had nothing to do but stand around watching Sam do his "hero thing" if they hadn't changed Dean's role in the mytharc to something independent of Sam.

It's not like they changed anything else. Everything is the same, this show always had 2 equal leads. It's just that now Dean has a role in the mytharc that is his own.

Misha is a great actor and he's done a wonderful job bringing Castiel to life. He and Jensen have terrific, intense chemistry and I for one can't wait to see more of it

By Rorshak at 1:28 PM ON 03/11/09

His character is dull. Not interested in Castiel at all. Sounds like this show's going down the toilet.

Been a Sam girl since the start so I doubt I'll be watching if he's not given anything anymore and I prefer Ruby to Castiel.

What a shame this show had promise. Season's one and two were amazing but the last few have been truly horrible.

By Messiah at 1:34 PM ON 03/11/09

Couldn't agree more that I don't want to know more about Castiel, adding a third character never worked so far it hasn't worked with him this is one of the biggest mistakes the writers could make and I've seen a lot of other people not just on this site that are tuning out this season because of the stupid introduction of the angels, what happened to the show about two brothers on the road fighting evil, this isn't touched by an angel nor do I ever want it to be.

I won't be watching if he's in 17 out of 22. I'm sick of the overtime spent on Castiel even this season and he's only been in about seven.

This is bad news indeed for many fans of Supernatural who've been so disillusioned this season by the ridiculous mytharc. If they'd had the guts to let Sam rescue Dean from hell they wouldn't be facing potential fan mass exodus with the rubbishness of this mytharc.

The Anna episode was a prime example of the splendour we have to look forward to with the angel crap.

By galveston at 1:47 PM ON 03/11/09

Sam is *not* on his way out. Quit being a drama queen and stop WHINING. Why are SPN fans so pathologically jealous of the screentime one or the other brother gets? It's why they have such a bad reputation online as insane psychos. Sam's not going anywhere. This will only make the story better. Bobby's been a great addition. I'm sure Cas will be as well. How about not being completely negative?

By Gia at 1:47 PM ON 03/11/09

"some of us don't even love Dean so to have to put up with the excessive overload of this season"

Wow. How can you not love Dean?? It's really sad that "some" fans (I assume you mean Sam fans?) can't love Dean too. Dean is now part of the mytharc, which is much more of a focus of the show than it has ever been. But it seems the Sam fans don't like this. They want it all for Sam only. Well, BOTH brothers are important now and that makes me happy.

Thankfully (finally!) this season, BOTH leads are relevant in the mytharc. Ruby has been on the show for 2 seasons supporting Sam's storyline and now we have Castiel supporting Dean's storyline.

I can't believe the Sam fans are complaining about this. No wait, what am I saying ... of course the Sam fans are complaining about this. They're only happy if the Sam is the sole focus of the show and Dean is his protective sidekick. For me, I like that both brothers have equal importance in the mytharc.

By Jack at 1:47 PM ON 03/11/09

I'm out too, this is so far from what I signed up for when I got into this intelligent show Supernatural about the family hunters avenging their mother's death.

I hardly recognize it now. If I was Padalecki i'd get out, F13th did brilliantly and he could have a great movie career it's just a shame they treated his character so shabbily in this show.

When there are only two leads you'd think they'd be able to focus on them both equally it's not rocket science, sadly, if Misha's coming in full time I'd like to see Supernatural run its course this season with Sam and Dean ending it as brothers and then it's just done.

Otherwise I'm out too.

By galveston at 1:52 PM ON 03/11/09

People are *not* tuning out this season. That is 100 percent false. Do a comparison. The ratings for season 4 are higher than those for season 3--episode for episode. Look them up. Sam is *not* on his way out. Quit being a bunch of DRAMA QUEENS. That's why SPN fans have a reputation for being such pathological nuts. You seriously think they'd write out Sam? Dean and Sam are the main characters and will continue to be the main characters. Why does it have to be only them 24/7 on screen? That's exhausting for the actors. Bobby didn't ruin the story and neither will Cas. Misha is a fantastic addition and the show is extremely lucky to get him.

By Hales at 1:54 PM ON 03/11/09

I might have been more interested in Castiel if he did more than fangirl Dean, but since he hasn't and doesn't, I've remained underwhelmed completely by him. Until he does something, hell anything to spark my interest this move doesn't seem a good one for me as a fan and I'll be joining the jumpers.

Also those people suggesting we're being negative, we're entitled to an opinion aren't we, what just cos we don't think the sun shines out of Castiel's angelic rear we're supposed to shut up?

I'd like him to prove me wrong and make his character more interesting to me, so far he hasn't.

By Alfie G at 1:57 PM ON 03/11/09

What? The angel dude? All season?

What is this Supernatural or Seventh Heaven?

NO NO NO!!!!

By Mia's Mom at 2:00 PM ON 03/11/09

Why do you have a picture of Jared Padalecki with this article when it has no reference to him whatsoever? Hello random!

By Chris at 2:03 PM ON 03/11/09

Thank you galveston for being the voice of reason here! These Sam fans need to quit whining about everything. It's so annoying. Any time I read an article about Supernatural, it's always these ridiculous comments about Sam because he's not being shown to be the center of the universe or something. Sheesh.

The mytharc involves both demons and angels, so it's logical that since we do have Ruby (who's a fangirl of SAM) who's been around a couple of seasons now, that we would have Castiel stick around too. Kripke needs to tell his story, so just let him.

This season is fantastic! The best ever.

By cassi at 2:13 PM ON 03/11/09

Awesome interview!
Misha has been a great addition to the show! I think season 4 is my favorite season so far! I can't wait to see more Castiel in season 5! I HOPE WE GET 22 EPISODES OF CASTIEL IN SEASON 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By galveston at 2:18 PM ON 03/11/09

Just wanted the site to know that not every SPN fan carries around a scorecard counting Dean and Sam's lines word for word and measuring their screentime to the second to make sure it's perfectly apportioned with exactly 50 percent for each character, Chris. :) The Dean vs. Sam fan wars, or "Which character are the writers not paying enough attention to?" get so old, don't they? It's embarrassing.

By JDV at 2:25 PM ON 03/11/09

I for one have loved the addition of Castiel and am glad he'll stick around. And just because he's a regular, doesn't mean he'll be in every episode like both of the Winchester boys will continue to be, I'm sure.

By wriddle at 2:38 PM ON 03/11/09

Several things:

1-The show is always going to be about Sam and Dean. Always has been, always will be.

2-Jared and Jensen have both said that they want other regular cast members on the show to help share the burden. It's wearing them down shooting 15 hours/day and they need all the help they can get.

3-Just because Misha is going to be a series regular doesn't mean he is going to take over or that Jared is somehow on his way out. That's absurd. Misha is not going to be in every episode and i'm sure that, just like this season, in many of his episodes he'll just pop in for a scene or two.

4-Castiel and the angel mythology have been great for the show. They up the stakes, are important to the story's development and definitely have something to do with the fact that the shows ratings have gone up so much this season.

By strangelove at 2:51 PM ON 03/11/09

Hey Misha,

Please don't let the jealous Sam fans get to you. They've been griping about Sam's role for 3 years. All they ever want is the Sam Winchester Show. I never read where any of these fans hated the powers, or the mytharc or the apocalypse before this season? Why? Cause all the other seasons it was all about Sam, so then it was ok if the show wasn't about the brothers, because it was about Special Sam.
Now that Dean has a role and a character that he can interact that isn't about Sam, they gripe that they want the show to go back to being about the brothers. Sadly, that's not true. They want the show to be about Sam and only Sam.

Your character is great and I hope Kripke does you justice and makes your character awesome. Plus, I'm so sick of Speshul Sam, I'm ready for some special Dean. And Castiel as Dean's angel rocks. Tell Kripke most of us love the new season, the angels and Castiel and that if he listens to the Sam fans, the show will once again go the boring route that was season 3 with Sam the DemonKing. Really? Demonking? If only I cared.

Plus, what's with the pic of Sam? Castiel is Dean's angel and I'm tired of everyone trying to shove Sam down my throat.

By T.O.M.G.W. at 3:02 PM ON 03/11/09

Castiel fanboy's Dean? Not half as much as Ruby fangirl's Sam, but oh that's right, Sam's the only one who is supposed to get any attention on this show.

It's not enough that for years Sam's been the one with everyone and their sister telling him how smart he is, how important he is, how powerful he is.

Nope, even the angel who pulled Dean out of Hell is supposed to get all weak-kneed over Sam. Preferably while telling Dean what an idiot he is and how smart and powerful Sam is.

Sam's personal fangirl Ruby has had more screentime than Castiel has had this season and she's been every bit as focused on Sam, if not more so, as Castiel has been on Dean. They've both had scenes with both boys.

Also Ruby was around LAST season as well, where she was focused mainly on Sam. Funny none of y'all had a problem with it then when Dean had no one "fangirling" him. So much for equality.

This is just another case of a few Sam fan girls trying to spam every single news site with their whining because Dean's has an active part in the main plot instead of simply the reactive one he's had.

By Anna S. at 3:07 PM ON 03/11/09

"If I was Padalecki i'd get out ....... it's just a shame they treated his character so shabbily in this show." Thank you, Jack, for saying that! I feel exactly the same... They want more Castiel and Dean-Castiel interaction? Ok. Go for it! But give Jared a way out. Please! (And Jared's picture in this article is a good thing. We love him too:)

By balloo at 3:12 PM ON 03/11/09

By Sam fans and your sock-puppets. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Thanks for the interview. Misha is indeed awesome and so is Castiel. I can't wait to see what Kripke has cooked up for him.

By strangeworld at 3:14 PM ON 03/11/09

"If I was Padalecki i'd get out ....... it's just a shame they treated his character so shabbily in this show." Thank you, Jack, for saying that! I feel exactly the same..."

Hah! I felt the same way for the past 2 years only about Jensen, because he was being wasted on a show that only had one important character on a two lead show, and Jensen's the one that carried the show for the last four years. So now that he's finally got his due Jared should jump ship? It's bab enough that he admitted to sleepwalking through his role. Which, considering most of his acting, is probably true.

By Amy at 3:19 PM ON 03/11/09

Totally agree Chris!
The Sam fans are just jealous and I'm sick of them whining all the freakin' time!!

We've had to put up with crappy Ruby for two years so I'm real happy Castiel is sticking around!

That's the best news I've heard - Castiel becoming a regular. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE ANGEL!!!! I want to see more and more of him.

By shane at 3:36 PM ON 03/11/09

them adding castiel to the show doesnt change the sam and dean aspect of the show...AND if i recall KRIPKE has HIS vision for the show and decides whats its about.kripke has had this show planned out from day 1 and its obvious its not just about sam and dean anymore.i wonder if people would complain this much if bobby became a regular??

By A. Hernandez at 3:39 PM ON 03/11/09

Lol, at all the bickering going on here. Oh, Supernatural fandom, why you so crazy? :D

I LOVE Castiel, love Misha, and I'm really excited about him being added as a regular next season. The only thing that worries me is the bit about more money, because it makes me think that if we're gaining Misha, we're losing someone else, and I hope it's not Bobby/Jim Beaver! (I know he's not a regular, but he's a pretty frequent guest star.) I love Bobby and I'll be one sad little SPN viewer if we lose him.

That said, bring on more Castiel - I can't wait!

By Ali at 3:53 PM ON 03/11/09

Word to your whole post, A. Hernandez!!! Let's keep both of them! They both bring great performances to the show. :)

By Alessar at 4:27 PM ON 03/11/09

Misha sounds like a really smart, savvy guy. I mean, he is definitely in tune with some of the appeal of the show and has good humor about it. Loved the wing jokes, and that he could cite an example of something that he as an actor is drawing on to improve his performance. He is going to go far, I think.

Anyway, I am not worried about him eclipsing either of the brothers. (For that matter, series regular doesn't necessarily mean he's going to be riding in the backseat of the car every episode!) I'm thrilled the show has been picked up and that they clearly have some interesting plans.

Good luck and congrats, Misha!

By Sansa at 4:42 PM ON 03/11/09

What is really strange for me , is that Jensen and Jared don't complain about their screen time , they don't complain about the storyline , they don't complain about the angels , they don't complain that Misha is going to have some more screen time , they don't complain about Katie or Genevieve but fans always complain . Not all , yes , but many ...

What I see is that actors , directors , writers of Supernatural and Eric are cool , nices guys when Supernatural's fans are just pain in the ass

C'mon , you don't like the show anymore ? Ddon't watch it ! Don't say 'I'm going to leave' leave ! What do you think , that we are going to say to you 'stay' ? Please . Enjoy the show ! When it'll be over , you'll cry . the show bores you , don't watch it anymore , I've never understood people who keep watching shows that they hate

You can't love everything in a show . You can't love very characters . I'm happy Cas is going to stay and see and know more of him . I'm happy Dean will have someone , he deserves it . I didn't complain when during three seasons all about Sammy's powers , I liked it but I am very happy Dean is now in the myth of the show , too . And I hope that God decided to save him not because of Sammy but for himself !

And just one more thing , people in the beginning liked Cas , now it seems they hate him (yes , not everyone) . If Cas would have disappeared like this after 4 or 5 episodes , people would have been whining , writers decided to show more of him , people are whining ... Fans don't know what they want , it's not even this , fans are NEVER satisfied . I love the show but it possesses some part of fans who are just crap

By Jess at 4:49 PM ON 03/11/09

I see Supernatural fans are at war with each other again..

I love this show to show to death though (though not as much as Battlestar Galactica) and the Castiel character is a breath of fresh air. I also love the fact that the actor has such a firm understanding of the show. If only someone told the new Ruby to watch old dvds and study how blonde Ruby played the role.

By Lou at 5:04 PM ON 03/11/09

It makes sense for Dean to have an allie in Castiel and Sam to have one in Ruby. Sam fans are just jealous because they got stuck with Ruby haha. As for those wanting Jared out because they think he's now better than Supernatural, get over yourselves. We've one last season to go. If you were ever fans of the show and not just Sam then you'd want to see it through like the rest of us no matter who they add to the cast. Cas and Dean have amazing chemistry, can't wait to see more.

By Hazel at 5:18 PM ON 03/11/09

Agreed with what Sansa said. Also, people who don't like Castiel are a very small minority. It's a select few who are pro-brother (you can figure out which one) who spam the same stuff on every internet forum as if they're going to change the mind of fans who do love season 4. Hell, I even recognize a couple of the handles here because I've seen them relentlessly campaign for their favorite brother on a site I visit often.

Anyway, congratulations to Misha Collins. He seems like a very intelligent guy that really gets the show. I hope they keep Castiel the way he is though and not completely humanize him.

By Viviane at 5:39 PM ON 03/11/09

I completely love Castiel. I'm so happy Misha will be a regular in the season 5. He's a very good actor. Supernatural was the only show who have only 2 regulars actors, I don't want a season like the first season. The first season was enough like that, just hunting monsters. It's normal theirs bonds have change, Dean went on hell and Sam have demon bloods in him. If the devil exist, then they're will be angels too. Jensen and Jared told in several interviews they want another regular actor. it's not easy for them to filming only the both as regular..

By songintheair at 7:14 PM ON 03/11/09

It saddens me to see this fandom constantly at war with itself: if the Dean girls aren't crying that he's being overshadowed by theboy!king, Sam girls are crying that Sam isn't being given enough screen time. The foundation of this show is that there are TWO brothers. TWO. One might get more screen time in an episode, the other might get more in another, but it's about both of them.

But, I digress.

I am so pleased to hear that Misha will be returning as a series regular! He is a fabulous addition to the cast: he brings so much to the character of Castiel and to the show. He definitely deserves to come back!

I've been a huge fan of Castiel from his first appearance and the dynamic between him and Dean is a beautiful thing. It finally gives Dean something that is just his (as Sam has in Ruby) and adds to the intensity of the overall story arc. It adds extra layers to the show that have totally revived it.

Congratulations, Misha!

By J.R. at 8:20 PM ON 03/11/09

Thanks for the interview, SCI FI Wire!

The Sam vs. Dean bickering comments really need to stop. Please. They appear after every article written about Supernatural and it's very annoying to filter through all the whining just to read some comments that aren't repeating themselves.

I, for one, am extremely excited about Misha being added as a regular next year! Instead of automatically making him a regular without having any screen time (like they did with Lauren and Katie) they let Misha be the awesome actor he is and win over the hearts of fans. When they saw how awesome he was at his role and how much the angels have been adding to the myth-arc (as seen by the increase in viewership this year), I think the only logical thing for Kripke to do was to make him a regular next year. It would have been too risky to keep him as a guest star and possibly lose him like many others who were fantastic but got away because of other jobs (Gordon, Henrickson, JDM).

Him being a regular next year won't be a drastic change. He's just going to show up in a few more episodes than he would have this year. And get paid better. Cuz the man deserves it.

I agree with you J.R. and there is one more advantage: No more Cas-withdrawl that last for FOUR FRICKING MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only good thing about this article is Jared's picture posing so sexily. Crap with Dean mytharc stuff. Just because Sam has destiny that doesnt mean Dean also has to have destiny. Just because Sam has superpower that doesnt mean Dean also has superpower. If this Supernatural gonna be Dean Cas Show, fine, but let Jared go. He is the more talented of the two, he has great future.

By Viviane at 2:25 PM ON 03/12/09

Jensen is talented the same as Jared, have you watched All Hell Breaks Loose part 2. I've never cried more then that. Why Dean couln't have a destiny if Sam has a destiny. And best news Misha will be a reguar in the season 5. I love Cas, the best Character with Bobby after Dean and Sam. Misha is a very good actor. Jensen and Jared are a great future, I'm sure.

Its realy rediculus how some Fans here throw a hissyfit just because little Sammy doesn't get all the attention. those are, imo, no real fans. They just wanna drool over Jared and don't care about the actual plot.
Sam had attention all through season 1 and 2, and that was required to get the story told about his powers and why he had them, now its Deans turn to get "his side of the plot" told.
No one forces the "die hard" sammy fans to continue watching. But bashing the other actors because they don't get what they want is just pathetic. Besindes it makes them look like a childish hypocrit when they bitch about the attention on Dean, only because Sam doesn't get it.

I'm glad that Misha will be in the 5th season. He's a good actor and a real asset to the Show in his role as Castiel.
I think it will be something like Dean and Cas against Evil!Sam, because we all know that dean cant kill his brother even to defend himself agains an Evil!Sam.

All in all

-Love Misha on the show,
-Some fans should stop beeing a hypocrit
- Kripke....you're awesome. Thank you for that wonderful show.

Wow...lot's of angry Supernatural viewers out there! Might I suggest a massage or maybe a nap? But seriously, as a fan from the beginning, I think the show has been spinning in wider and wider circles in a definite path and plan. The writers know what they are doing, and the fact that they are not afraid to deal with morality and good vs. evil on this grand of scale suggests not only a knowledge of the original verses from the Bible, but also Milton, Dante, and other great authors who've delved into this area. I always thought we'd end up in this epic battle with Sam leading the demon army and Dean leading the angel army in an amazing war, and I haven't seen anything yet that changes my mind. My little brain has Sam realizing his inherent goodness BEFORE the end, but we'll see. Either way, I am along for the ride, and I suggest that if this is too heavy for anyone, they tune into less stressful shows. I know that Grey's Anatomy is on at the same time...maybe that's more your speed

By lovebothbros at 4:21 PM ON 03/28/09

I think that if you are a TRUE SUPERNATURAL FAN that you should support the show in whichever direction it may head in and love Sam and Dean equally because the show IS about TWO BROTHERS. There have been som superb episodes (most all of them) and not so favorite episodes. But what ever happens I am a TRUE SPN Fan and will be there until the end.

By lovebothbros at 8:38 PM ON 03/30/09

ALL YOU PEOPLE WHINING ABOUT "WHAT HAPPENED TO JUST THE TWO BROTHERS DRIVING AROUND AlONE..." BLAH BLAH BLAH: SHUT UP!!!! you cant have five seasons of the same tried boring formula!!! supernatural was only given a season 5 because season 4 grew and changed the show and took it to another level!! The angels SAVED the show and stopped it from getting tired while taking it to another, much more apocalyptic level... and Castiel is AWESOME!! All you Castiel-haters should just SHUT THE HELL UP YOU UNGRATEFUL SODS!

By Krystal B. at 5:32 AM ON 04/25/09

Wow, I came here looking for a bit of insight into next season and the last few episodes of this season (which sound awesome, by the way!), but there sure is an awful lot of bickering going on in the comments section!

I'm definitely a "Sam girl," but the show just wouldn't work without equal input from Dean. The show was designed to have TWO leads... and I think it's fantastic that they are giving Dean a more concrete role this season. I also think it is great that Misha will be around as a regular next season! Just because he's coming around doesn't mean that he's stealing time away from our main boys. I tend to enjoy the episodes with recurring characters that further the main plot much more than the "monster of the week" episodes, anyway.

Really, if I had any complaint this season, it would only be in the tension between Sam and Dean that has been growing of late. I miss the brotherly bonding of previous seasons, but I'm hoping that the tension will somehow resolve itself after the predicted blowout in the season finale.

Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what they do with Castiel next season! Who knows, maybe he'll start to even come around in his opinions of Sam (assuming Sam can stop himself from becoming the monster people have been warning him about for the past few seasons)?

Either way, it sounds exciting! Great interview!

sam and dean have their own fans in our family...but we clearly loveeeeeeeee castiel
bring it on

By rozy rebel at 10:14 AM ON 04/29/09

love dean & sam....drooling over castiel

By cris at 12:14 AM ON 05/15/09

I don't understand why people feel the need to complain about the show,if you don't like it,don't watch it. The people put the show out there for our entertainment, they spend money and time on it. I appreciate the work they do,and I like Dean,Sam,and Castiel and I wish in a way that the boys Dad could have stayed, but I'm excepting whatever changes they decide on because I feel they have made a great show and are continuing to. I will be disapointed when it's all over. I do hope both the brothers stay on and Castiel also.

By mariana at 12:59 PM ON 05/26/09

I am very glad that Castiel will come back for another season, he can't leave the show without showing his bad ass angel fighting skills, cause he get beat up a lot, so maybe next season we'll see him kick some butt.

Leah, I am not sure what you are watching, but Sam is equally coming out as Dean is and they are adding to his story line about his powers, so him leaving the show is RIDICULOUSE!!! They would NEVER get rid of Sam
And for Lisa who made the comment about the actress that plays Ruby and her "acting" skills. I completely AGREE with you, I was turned off this season knowing she would be coming out with Sam, half of the time I was yelling at my TV learn how to act, instead of listening to what she was saying. I LOVED the actress in season 3, she did a GREAT job, but his one..... just plain AWFUL!!

By LunaShotaku at 9:58 PM ON 05/26/09

Well, honestly - after reading everyone's comments I have to come clean. I didn't get into Supernatural until season 2. Season 1 was too much of a hit and miss with me, in the end they wrapped it up with finding their dad but other then that the start of the show had no solid story line. Everything was always changing. So on that note...

That is why I loved the roadhouse so much in season 2, with the boys going off to new places every episode they atleast had a steady place to stop and recoop - I was sad to see it go, but then again I'm very glad that in later seasons they've been using Bobby's house as a semi steady set. To me it gives the show a better feel of stability which is what I believe gave the show the leeway to build up on the myhthology so much for this season, the mythology being the angels which brings me to Misha.

Misha Collins is a phenomanal actor and earned his stay for the season five run, we all have our opinions on the matter but the bottom line is -

If Misha wasn't up to par then there would've been no way in hell the CW was going to keep him, so as much as this show is about Sam and Dean it can't completely revolve around them, they certainly hold the center (which is why I doubt Jared's on his way out) but with out supports they're nothing - no matter how pretty/ good actors you think J2 are.

Hence why this season got better ratings because the supporting cast got better.

Everything is relevant, you know its true.

Don't deny it.

~ Luna

PS

I LOVED how they tied Azazel in all of this at the end - absolutely LOVED it.

By comcast at 11:32 PM ON 06/24/09

I am a TOTAL Sam fan 100%. Yeah, I like Dean and Castiel, too, they rock. But as I was reading these comments, I was DISGUSTED!! All of you people, bagging on Sam and his (awesome) fans are just being whiny little babies who are jealous that Dean is JUST getting attention!! Its not my fault Sam has had a lot of attention in the show, talk to Kripke about it, Dean fans and QUIT WHINING!! >GEESH!!

By lilshorty at 11:36 PM ON 06/24/09

I am actually "comcast" I was having a BrainFart and I had NO idea what a Handle was at first. But seriously, GEESH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jared doesn't really need to Supernatural, by the other hand, Supernatural can't do anything without him. Jared is the heart of the show

JARED, LET'S GO!

YOU'RE THE BETTER!

By Martina'sMom at 5:21 AM ON 09/11/09

Agree with Rozy Rebel. I enjoy the show and watching Jared growing into a very handsome young man. I sound so old!!! But have to say when Castiel first appeared every woman at the Hen Round Table stopped talking and stared in drooling awe. More Castiel please!!

By Idunno at 6:17 PM ON 09/23/09

People, please stop bickering over the people that are "better" than supernatural, and those that need to leave the show. In case you haven't realized because you're spending too much time drooling over the pictures on your wall, the current seasons have higher ratings than any of the others, and a drastic INCREASE in viewers. Obviously, the story is going in a good direction. And for those people that think Sam's just going to leave, Kripke himself said that Sam was supposed to be the main character, so he won't be killed off anytime soon. And if the producers just signed Misha on for the entirety of Season 5, why in the world would the kill him off either? And Dean is finally getting his deserved screentime, what with being dragged out of hell and saved from being killed by Lucifer in 5.1. NONE of the leads are going to die, so shut up. As Dean says: "Driver picks the songs, Shotgun shuts his piehole." Kripke is the driver here, and all us fans in the shotgun seat should just shut our pieholes and watch a master at work.
