As you warm up the DVRs for tonight's series finale of Battlestar Galactica, be aware that it will run extra long, about two hours and 11 minutes, so make sure you're ready to capture those last few scenes!
But don't zap through the ads too much: The episode will also feature exclusive sneak peeks at SCI FI Channel's upcoming new series Warehouse 13, Caprica and Stargate Universe, as well as a preview for the spinoff movie Battlestar Galactica: The Plan.
If you miss them—or want to see them again and again and again—they'll go live on SCI FI Wire immediately thereafter.
Battlestar will end its run with a finale entitled "Daybreak, Part 2," beginning at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

All I have to say is BSG better resolve most of the ongoing issues in this finale. Give us a Sopranos type ending and I'll go frakking nuts!!!!

I've been looking forward to this for ages. Heck, this show helped me survive through some really hard times of physical and emotional strain. When I was in massive amounts of pain and doctors who didn't give a damn, until I finally found one who did, it was the highlight of my week -- this and a US history class I had. That was it. The rest of the week was looking forward to these 2 things to avoid thinking about the pain and fear. Thankfully I'm better, but the emotional issues linger and BSG has made me feel not so alone. It's the Radiohead of TV shows. I'm also afraid I'll be bawling for hours and mourning for a week.
Thanks for the heads-up about the 11 minutes thing. I hope Canada's Space plans for it; heck, what am I saying, Space loves the show more than Sci Fi. We Cannucks really have to thank you Americans for giving so many of us employment opportunities and great TV like this.

If it doesn't go out with a literal BANG -- and I mean a space battle to end ALL Battlestar battles -- then I'll be somewhat disappointed! After all it's BATTLEstar, not DRAMAstar (not that the drama isn't good, but where have the BATTLES gone these last ten episodes?)

I thought it was an exciting, emotional and elegant finale. What a terrific series and story. I'll miss it.

Battlestar was one of those shows that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end. Not many shows were able to do that; M*A*S*H comes to mind, the Fugitive (for you oldies) and of course Star Trek, the Next Generation. I cried at the ending.
I cried at THIS series finale. The constant action, the backstory behind characters, the way all of the characters met their final windup, and the twist of almost bringing everyone in agreement before the final great action scene (it was pretty movieworthy!)
Ron Moore is a hell of a storyteller, with David Eick as a great story creator as well. Battlestar Galactica is part of history. I think this episode should definitely win an emmy or any award for that matter.

Loved Daybreak pt 2 and the action, drama, and characterizations along with it. It was also good to see some Back stories. I can accept the way it ended... however, if anyone can answer this one question logically, please do: How did SIX and Baltar survive to be themselves and know all they did 150,000 years after landing on Earth 2. Oh and good shot of Ron Moore at the end of the episode, and also the developing robots. Everything ties in to US... today, as it should.

Requiem1971 ... I think those were supposed to be the "angels" of Baltar and 6.
Anyone else weep as Adama took Roslin off to die?
By Requiem1971 at 11:20 AM ON 03/21/09
I just ran through the Trekmovie.com sight about this thread topic. The greater sensis was that the Baltar and Six seen at the end of the series were indeed the "angels" seen by Baltar and Six in the series. I remember at the end the two could see one another's "angels." That was neat—there are two now? So, Hera was the mitochondrial ansister of modern day people? After all, that's what the "angels" said, the discovered mitochondrial ansister was raised by a human and Cylon parent. Bravo RDM, good end.

Like every thing else that has been "Reimagined" by The Scifi channel, the last episode of BSG stank worse than a dead skunk in the producer's underwear. It was hokey, and I tell ya. The stupid Ship Of Lights plot line from the REAL BSG was better. I am just glad the frakkin thing is finally over and not using up precious airtime with it's drivel.
People call the original BSG corny. Well you can't get more ridiculous than the finale.
I really like the wisdom of a people throwing thousands of years of learning and work into the sun. And the ridiculous religious overtones are just plain felgercarb. Not to mention that almost every major character was either dead, building a cabin on his lover's grave yard, or going to the north highlands to be completely alone.
I want to know what the heck the producers and writers, were smoking when they came up with this turkey.
I really hope that the rumors of someone possibly making a REAL BSG movie based on the original series are true. I need something to get the bad taste out of my mouth...

Sparrow, since it's clear that you never liked the show, that you're one of those particularly bitter BSG "purists." If you were so offended by the "re-imagining" why did you even bother to watch the series to its conclusion? I enjoyed the first series, but was still able to appreciate the second as something different.
The finale wrapped up most, if not all, of the loose plot-lines, respected the characters, stayed true to the intimations of "higher powers" that were leavened throughout the series, and elegantly dove-tailed with both the preceding seasons, and the discovery of earth.
Most other viewers disagree with your assessment of the the second series, btw, as do most critics.

glad to see it ended the way I predicted at the end of season three. lol. saw that coming, but still lvoed it. thanks for a great run to the entire crew and cast. we loved. now it's time for mr. moore and mr. eick to reimagine something else we will love, maybe buck rogers?

I never watched the series but I watched the finale and now I wished I watched the series. The acting was great (well for the scifi channel) and the story was even better. The only thing I didn't like about it was the word "Frak" It's just plain dumb. I liked how they weren't afraid to include God or at least a divine had. Everybody is so scared to talk about God now a days especially on TV. Even if you don't believe in that kind of stuff doesn't mean other people do so you just gotta deal I guess.
By howmanoid at 3:20 PM ON 03/21/09
I've been a huge fan of the new BSG, literally not missing an episode. I wish I'd never watched the finale last night as now I'm stuck with my final memory of the series being a negative one. I've been trying to put my finger on what exactly it was about the show that turned me off so badly but I can't. I think it's a combination of many things that add up to create a very negative emotional response. Things like - Seeing Laura die on screen (really could have done without that!); Bill flying off never to return to Lee; 6 & Baltar appearing 150,000 years in the future; Kara just disappearing after all the build up about her origins; The preaching & preaching & preaching about "god" and "angels" - YUCK!; Flying the fleet into the Sun, and on and on. It was a real downer.

Raises hand...
By rkf at 3:44 PM ON 03/21/09
I, for one, wasn't expecting a happy ending. And I'm glad it didn't turn out that way, as it would have seemed fake and forced. I thought that seeing Laura die was very moving, and Adama's reaction totally understandable, after everything they'd been through. I'm not sure if everyone understood that it was "Inner 6 & Baltar" that showed up in the future. The spiritual/religious themes in the show have been there since day one, as has the depiction of the cyclical nature of human/cylon history.
Well, obviously it wasn't everyone's cup of tea. I actually expected to be disappointed with the ending, particularly Kara's fate, but I ended up feeling very satisfied.
By Lucifer729 at 5:27 PM ON 03/21/09
I thought the finale was one of the best I have ever seen. It was sad to see Laura Roslin die. It wasn't fair in my book. Still, she was one of my favorite characters throughout the series. A few downers though like Anders sending the fleet into the sun and Cal killing himself. But the biggest one involved Kara. Was she a ghost or what?
By wildbuf at 7:51 PM ON 03/22/09
What bothered me about the finale was this. This show was all about conflict and human nature. .Yet in the end everyone willingly gives up everything for some sort of Utopian, hunter -gatherer, agrarian existence?? What if you were a ship's mechanic, for instance, and that is everything you ever wanted to be from the age of, say, 5. You would give this up to become a farmer? Khmer Rouge, anyone? Revolutionary France maybe?

Should've called it 'Battlestar Interupticus' because of all the commercial breaks.
