Watch an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette for Mutant Chronicles

SCI FI Wire has obtained an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette about the making of the sci-fi action movie Mutant Chronicles, which Magnet Releasing will debut on Ultra Video on Demand today, followed by a theatrical release in select cities on April 24.

The featurette includes scenes from the movie and comments by the director and stars.

Here's how Magnet describes the movie: Mutant Chronicles is set in the year 2707 on an unrecognizable Earth where a war is raging between four giant corporations who control the planet as they battle over the planet's dwindling resources.

This war is soon rendered irrelevant when an errant bomb shatters an ancient buried seal, releasing a horrific mutant army from its prison deep within the Earth. As the mutant scourge threatens human extinction, a squad of ragged soldiers, led by Mitch Hunter (Jane), descends into the Earth in a last-ditch effort to destroy the mutants and save mankind.

What is up with filming everything in the dark? I wish directors would get a clue and stop shooting film in darkness.

The premise looks good and might be interesting, but If I can't see what's going on for two thirds of a movie then why waste my time and money.

Having seen this film in Europe, where it was released sometime ago, I can say that it is awful. It does not have a flavor of the miniatures game on which it is based. Bah! No doubt it will fail because it doesn't have a teenage angsty vampire or wizard in it.

this film is exactly why they should NEVER make a warhammer 40k film. They'll make it suck, just like this one.

I've seen this film too and think it's awesome...if you like things like the Fifth Element or Total Recall (which I do). First, please don't talk about a film unless you know something about it. It was only EVER supposed to be VERY LOOSELY based on the RPG. Don't go see it expecting it to be the game.

I will say that it has campy dialogue, but it's supposed to be that style of movie. I've already ranted on and on when other articles for the movie have popped up here, so I won't go too much further than to say give it a chance. It has good actors, a great story, and for an independently made movie--great FX. It's very steampunk meets mutant alternate history WWII zombies. If you don't like that type of movie, please stay away from it instead of seeing it and posting that it's awful because you don't like those types of movies to begin with. However, if you're a fan of Hellboy-esque movies, zombie movies, etc. then go enjoy it.

One of the worst films of the year. Too much cheesy CGI, most of the scenes are too dark. All of the main characters buy the farm except the male lead who you wish would buy the farm..... And, did I mention, the plot sucks? Well it does...
