Bond villain and others cast in Clash of the Titans

Bond villain and others cast in \<em\>Clash of the Titans\<\/em\>

Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton and Alexa Davalos have been cast in Clash of the Titans, the Greek-god epic being directed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Sam Worthington was already set to star as Perseus, who goes on a quest to save a princess and defeat Hades, the god of hell.

Mikkelsen, best known to U.S. audiences for his role as the villainous Le Chiffre in the recent Bond films, will be playing Draco, a skilled fighter and leader of the Praetorian Guard who accompanies Perseus. Davalos (The Chronicles of Riddick) is Andromeda, the captured princess, and Arterton (who will also be seen in 2010's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) is Io, who is instrumental in bringing the winged horse Pegasus to Perseus.

Clash of the Titans is a remake of the 1981 film of the same name, which starred Harry Hamlin as Perseus and featured an all-star cast including Laurence Olivier, Claire Bloom and Maggie Smith.

Filming begins in the U.K. at the end of April, with an eye on a 2010 release.

I wish everyone would stop hating on remakes. Some of them are terrible, but some of them are great. Most actually fall in the middle and are just a fun pop corn movie with some cool effects, which is fine by me.

This movie actually sounds like it might be good. It's main competitor will be Tarsem's "War of the Gods". However, considering the spoilers of the "plot" leaking out about it, I don't think it'll be successful. Tarsem isn't know for great plots - "War of the Gods" will be "a combination of Greek Mythology and Fight Club". That is the most retarded thing I've ever heard

Mads Mikkelsen is an excellent and subtle actor. I saw this great film Danish called "After the Wedding" in which he plays the main character, but shares much screentime with others. He really surprised me. I wish him the best. It's time great actors make as much if not more than the Will Smiths, Keanu Reeves, and Jennifer Garners of this world.

I would agree that there are a lot of remakes that are un-necessary, but this is one film that could benefit from the modern CGI explosion. (NOTE: this is not a request for Michael Bay to direct).

But like everything else it will need an excellent director and even better script to be done correctly. So far it looks like they've found some good actors. I could see one or two American sirens as a goddess or two. Virgina Madsen for instance.

Then again for a film of this sort they need as many non-American actors as possible and they're doing just that. Go and get Paul Verhoven before he stops making films!!!!

that's just it, the original is the film that showed what model technology and claymation could do. it was a masterpiece of these mediums. and yes CGI can do amazing things, and if u want a CGI Clash of the Titans, have it. no one can stop u. partake of your modern cinema. i just made the mistake of thinking "classic movies" meant that they didnt need to be done again.
