

Several genre stars and filmmakers were honored at ShoWest 2009 in Las Vegas as movie-theater operators capped their week, including Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen director Michael Bay and Star Trek's new James Kirk, actor Chris Pine, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Thursday-night awards gala recognized the female cast of Summit Entertainment's upcoming Sorority Row with the rising-talent award.
The Dark Knight's Michael Caine, meanwhile, was honored with a lifetime achievement award, and Bay copped a Vanguard Award for excellence in filmmaking. Pine got an accolade as male star of tomorrow.
There were also several awards for recent accomplishments:
♦Dennis Quaid—who voiced the lead part in Lionsgate's 3-D animated Battle for Terra, which screened at ShoWest on Wednesday—was honored as male star of the year.
♦Rachel McAdams was lauded as the year's outstanding female star.
♦Watchmen helmer Zack Snyder received accolades as director of the year.
♦Zac Efron, the young star of Disney's upcoming 17 Again, accepted a breakthrough performance award.
