SCI FI announced a July 10 premiere date for the second half of Eureka's season three and said the show will move to Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT from its previous Tuesday timeslot.
SCI FI also unveiled its slate of Saturday-night summer movies, starring Jason Gedrick, James Marsters and Peta Wilson.
The channel previously announced the July 7 premiere of its new series Warehouse 13, which will debut with a two-hour premiere starting at 9 p.m.
Eureka returns with 10 new episodes, picking up where it left off, with Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) being removed from his job as Eureka's sheriff and Allison (Salli Richardson-Whitfield) announcing that she is expecting her recently deceased husband's baby.
Carter is also confronted by some challenging decisions on the home front where his daughter Zoe (Jordan Hinson) is concerned and encounters a new love interest with the arrival of Dr. Tess Fontana (guest star Jaime Ray Newman), who will supervise the re-opening of Global Dynamics' infamous "Section 5."
Ghosts Hunters International returns July 8 and will air Wednesdays at 9 p.m. This summer the team travels to Austria, Ireland, Italy, Chile, Argentina and the Czech Republic in pursuit of the truth behind bizarre supernatural claims. The first six episodes of season two will air this summer, with additional episodes continuing in 2010.
Ghost Hunters returns Aug. 19 and will air Wednesdays at 9.
SCI FI also announced a slate of summer movies:
Malibu Shark Attack, starring Peta Wilson. An underwater earthquake generates a tsunami that strikes Malibu and brings a hunting pack of prehistoric-looking goblin sharks to the surface. Although the beach is evacuated before the big wave strikes, a group of lifeguards and a crew of construction workers are stranded in the high water and have to fight the sharks to get to dry land.
High Plains Invaders, starring James Marsters. In the early 20th century, a small western mining town is invaded by giant insectoid alien creatures whose only mission is to mine uranium to fuel their spaceship, but they'll kill anyone or anything that gets in their way. After they devastate the town, it's up to a retired outlaw to lead a small group of survivors in fighting the "bugs."
Hellhounds, directed by Rick Schroeder. After his bride is poisoned at their wedding, a young Greek warrior risks a journey to Hades to rescue her from the god of the underworld and bring her back to life. What he doesn't know is that the best friend who accompanies him is the man who killed her in a jealous rage
Sand Serpents, starring Jason Gedrick. At an isolated Taliban outpost in Afghanistan, a small platoon of U.S. soldiers faces a danger far greater than fanatical rebels: giant wormlike creatures that come up through the sand and devour everything in their path. Their inexperienced lieutenant has to lead them across the treacherous desert to a rendezvous point where an army helicopter will pick them up, but not all of them are going to make it.

Sci Fi used to make really good made for tv mini series and movies, most notably Children of Dune and of course the B-Star mini. When the hell are they gonna get back to that and stop with these horrendous D level movies?
By shayd at 4:30 PM ON 04/24/09
With decades-worth brilliant Sci-Fi novels and short fiction just waiting to be adapted for the small screen, why can't they find something to make a "Sci-Fi Original Picture" about that DOESN'T involve bad CGI trying to eat, maim, kill or otherwise bring to mindless harm a bunch of humans.
Can't anyone write a script that appeals to anyone over the age of 12 anymore?
To the execs greenlighting these projects: Here's your reading list pick any five works (each) from the following authors: Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, Roger Zelazny, Phillip K. Dick, Alfred Bester, Andre Norton, Anne McCaffrey, Larry Niven, Frank Herbert, and Frederick Pohl (I could go one but that enough to get you started). Now the next time you're thinking about making "Revenge of the Mutant Star Badger" ask yourself if really will draw an audience, DVD sales and a theatrical run abroad the same way that a "Childhood's End" or "The Mote in God's Eye" or "Chronicals of Amber: the Miniseries" would.
Oy - I wish someone would create a TV channel dedicated to programming INTELLIGENT and ENTERTAINING science fiction and not dilute it with wrestling, monster movies of the week and lame "reality" shows.
By meh at 4:31 PM ON 04/24/09
They moved Eureka to Fridays? The timeslots of death? Why do I have the sinking feeling that some programming wonk is going to end Eureka after the 10 episodes and then flood the timeslots with repeats of Ghosthunters? Come on "SyFy" suits... fess up... which one of you hates Eureka?
By Mandy at 4:37 PM ON 04/24/09
The Science FICTION Channel only lists one science fiction show for their entire summer schedule?! No wonder they're going with the new Polish name...
By fancyfembot at 4:43 PM ON 04/24/09
@Jim. You are so right! What about Sanctuary??
By blairake at 4:51 PM ON 04/24/09
They said a couple of weeks ago that Sanctuary would be back for a second season.
And how can Friday nights be a bad time slot? I sem to remember a couple of shows that did extremely well on Friday nights (remember SG1 and Battlestar?)
I agree that the made for tv movies SciFi has been making are pure crap. It would be great to see what they could do with the Anne McCaffrey PERN series.
By scifire at 5:02 PM ON 04/24/09
Yep, Sarah Jane and Sanctuary are my only concerns right now.
By WhiteCrowAsh at 5:05 PM ON 04/24/09
Didn't they already make a channel for horror why is the channel for Sci-fi and fantasy so hung up on horror someone needs to be fired. What with shows like The Dressden Files, Farscape or The Invisable Man Theres at 3 show they could revive. What even adapting Anna Rices Vampire Croncles for a tv mage mini series.
By nilus at 5:15 PM ON 04/24/09
Friday has always been a good time slot for Sci-Fi channel shows. So I don't mind that. The fact that they are telling us about 4 more crappy low budget sci-fi movies hurts though. There are so many good Sci-Fi novels out there that would make great made for TV movies. Why not get your crappy D grade horror movies from Asylum studios and spend your own movie making something good.
SyFy or whatever the frak the new name is means shitty movie in some strange moon language
By scifiluvr at 5:17 PM ON 04/24/09

Please god NO MORE Saturday night movies!!!!! Scifi needs to STOP sinking money (granted they are cheap, but there are so very many of them) into these crap movies and reality shows!
Why not start a completely new channel where all you play is Saturday Night movies, reality shows, and Wrestling; wait, i know! you can call it the SyFy channel! Hmmm

I miss the Dr., Sanctuary, & can't wait for the Stargate Universe to begin.
By Gumbercules at 5:29 PM ON 04/24/09
I think Primeval is still going to be on in the summer - that's a good sci-fi show.
As for the rest...can't say I love Malibu Shark Attack (sounds like a poor man's Shark Attack 3: Megalodon, which is saying something), but High Plains Invaders at least sounds like an interesting concept. Cowboys vs. aliens? I can get behind that.
By stephen j at 5:37 PM ON 04/24/09
Dr Who series 5 will be aring in Britain in 2010. the 4 2009 specials will air (1-2 have aloready aired in Britain) 2-4 later this year. no confirmation if SyFy will air series 5 or the specials... in regards to Sanctuary it is coming back to SyFy this october alongside the new stargate Universe!
By Baff at 6:04 PM ON 04/24/09
I wouldn't be surprised if Doctor Who and Sarah Jane aired on BBC America instead this year. Season 2 of Sarah Jane aired last Fall in the UK.
SyFy is making it clear that sci-fi will be taking a back seat from here on out.
By cwoolley at 6:48 PM ON 04/24/09
As for Sanctuary and Stargate Universe, they start in October on Friday nights. Eureka should be done by then.
By DoIhaveto at 7:01 PM ON 04/24/09

Yay Siffy, good going on the original thinking.
By abeery at 7:06 PM ON 04/24/09
I miss SciFridays!... It's surprising how many of these comments I agree with... Why does SCIFI think that people who like science fiction will also like horror? I'll watch the Eureka but probably be looking elsewhere the rest of the time... Kevin VanHook has made some great SciFi movies even though they tend to be a little gory for my taste but written well... maybe they can get him back for some honest to goodness space-based action adventure!

I never watched this show untill a few weeks ago when i found the firste season on Hulu.com. I always wanted to but didnt want to start in the middle and not understand.
I watched the whole first season and LOVED it. It kept me hook, with a GREAT original idea which is hard to capture these days. Great stories Awesome characters. and Hot chicks. I hope I get to see season two. I dont want to start the thr third with out seeing season 2. So please put it on Hulu soon, If not i will def have to go out and buy it next week, Great Job SCI FI Channel. I now going to start Sanctuary this weekend

Looks like a Bleak summer for Sci-Fi channel !
and this damned Captcha is unreadable! who the made these!!??
By divephotog at 8:27 PM ON 04/24/09
I agree with some of the above whole heartedly, and in fact, wrote a letter to the pres about a month ago, stating that they in fact should split the channels to a horror channel, and the syfy channel with the new moniker coming soon. I was getting real fed up with the overload of horror, and pseudo science (Ghost Hunters, and ECW?) on the sci-fi. I am pleased with the return of Eureka, and new movies, but also find it distressing that they do not stick to their scheduling, and flit the Friday schedule about like it was underwear, to be changed daily! Charlie Jade was there, and many others... I was glad to have DVR'ed the episodes of the series, but hate that they always are insensitive to getting us interested in a series, and then pull the rug out from under us. So, maybe more letters... Keith
By SpacecatX at 9:05 PM ON 04/24/09
Sadly I feel Jaded over a lack of any good shows besides Eureka. this summer. I mean, they can air series 2 of SJA they can air the DW specials as one off movies A-la Stargate they can air just the Caprica pilot ahead of Sky.
I wish I had BBC America . . . .
By DannyP at 9:07 PM ON 04/24/09
This is typical for this channel: one decent show per very short "season" then wait a full freakin year for the next season. Eureka once per summer, Sanctuary once per fall, (nothing at all this spring, now that BSG--also criminally delayed-- is done). Eureka is a GREAT show, but how is it supposed to retain an audience with the long gap between seasons?
Their marketing "geniuses" also have not figured out to release the previous season dvds well AHEAD of the new seasons, so new viewer can get caught up before the new season starts.
And they continue to fund the cheap, crappy 'original' movies--yes, Saturday nights ARE the most dangerous night on TV, but not for the reason they think!
As of right now, there isn't a single new show on this channel worth watching. But they sure do fill the time rerunning old stuff endlessly.
Oh, and there's wrestling, can't forget that.....
By JJ at 9:37 PM ON 04/24/09

Sanctuary and Stargate Universe both coming this fall.
If you are the fan of this two shows, you should know that.
By boracorey at 9:42 PM ON 04/24/09
After Galactica came to an end, I am through with the snozefi channel.
Eureka is a great show and I wish it would move to a real network. But otherwise? this channel stinks to high heaven.
I am a huge science fiction fan but I have actually blocked the station on my dish network receiver, just so I don't have to see how awful they have become.
By Syberwolf at 10:16 PM ON 04/24/09
Well, I agree things look bleak...but I love the cheesy (bad CG) movies and the horror movies...but totally turned off with the fact they take to long to bring a show back and then for 10 episodes...sounds like a bad joke...I was a huge fan of BSG, SG1, SGA...not so interested in SGU at all really...not sure about Caprica...really hesitant. I don't like Dr. Who but Sanctuary grew on me after several episodes...pickins are slim as of late...
By Sheridan at 10:36 PM ON 04/24/09
Do we think any one of the suits ever reads this?? Just in case, how about one night, just ONE frakkin night of intelligent science fiction. The rest of the week run the crap that appeals to the advertisers so you can make the money. There is something to be said for awards and recognition such as Battlestar was getting. You know, that free publicity for your channel for supporting and running quality? But please, the ten-month hiatus is a killer. I love Eureka but after ten months, who's Chloe again???
By Rygiel at 10:40 PM ON 04/24/09

By amanojaku at 11:47 PM ON 04/24/09
Well the curse of Lifetime Channel strikes again! Ok, a few years back the SCI-FI channel was given to the former head of Lifetime. Since then, we loyal viewers of the SCI-Fi channel have been bombarded with crap TV. And the sad saga continues.........
By REDante at 12:07 AM ON 04/25/09
another shark movie, another insect alien movie, Hellhounds premise sounds interesting, probably try to go God of war style but most likely look like an episode of Hercules. Sand Serpents sounds like tremors in Iraq, oooooooh what makes the whole thing really bad was that they have been making crap movies and bad choices with tv shows waaay before the economy problem, I mean seriously I think the few remaining fans need to shout out to scifi. If fans can make networks think twice about cancelling shows maybe we can make them think twice about making better choices. I say shout out our dissappointment and frusteration to scifi, not with posts but with mail. We should mail them something I dont know what, crackers, or something that says scifi fans are not happy with the current choices being made.
By Decoherence at 12:34 AM ON 04/25/09
Who the hell watches these shows on Friday anyway? DVR.
I am sure Eureka will get dark, and serious. X-Files like before you know it. SciFi series get darker as they age for some reason. Never seen Sanctuary. Warehouse 13 looks interesting. SG-U, is questionable, but I will watch it. After watching Caprica, I can't wait for the new series. The DVD pilot was AWESOME, but of course the TV series will be sanitized, which sucks.

By NERVA at 1:15 AM ON 04/25/09
What a bunch of crap. Wrestling and reality shows on the sci-fi channel... who would of ever thought that? Throw in a bunch of shitty B grade movies... well, when the ratings go into the toilet, then they'll get back to science fiction. Just a matter of time.
By tremethick at 2:03 AM ON 04/25/09
With the exception of Eureka, what a bunch of CRAP!
How about a Lost in Space, or Seaquest or Time Tunnel run this summer? These movies are just embarrassing!
By sketch at 2:41 AM ON 04/25/09
Please oh please let someone write a GOOD version of The Dragonriders of Pern series. If the usual scifi writers get a hold of it , they will probably butcher it horribly and the dragons will be cheesy.
By Decoherence at 3:03 AM ON 04/25/09
How about some previous scifi series, cheesy or otherwise. My favorites, are Sliders, Earth 2, Sea Quest DSV, Space:Above and Beyond. Maybe Odyssey 5 too, but I think they tried that already; but it was my favorite show on Showtime, and it was unrated. I have them all on DVD, so I really don't need them on TV, but I am sure others would like too, and it is better than the crap they have on Saturdays.
Apparently some network is remaking V: the series, otherwise I'd recommend that, also.
By Mandy at 4:16 AM ON 04/25/09
Someone else pointed out that these movies sound a LOT like they're at least loosely based off Tremors. But their comment was mysteriously removed. So I'm repeating it because I think they make a valid point.
By MichaelK at 8:30 AM ON 04/25/09
Doesn't anyone get what SyFy's all about now? It's all about "branding" and "ownership" as in they own it, not the author or the copyright holder, but something that NBC/Universal owns and then can brand market if it becomes successful. The James Marsters flick -- EASILY spun off into a series if need be, and SyFy owns it lock stock and old west aliens.
By cdw at 11:03 AM ON 04/25/09
First time visiting this site. I am so glad to read others' views on wrestling and the movies (ack!) I watch for great shows such as BSG, Dr. Who and Eureka, but can't stand being subjected to the commercials for such trashy fare. DVR helps, but sometimes I just like to watch my favs first run. Re other scifi authors, how about Orson Scott Card? As to fantasy, I agree with sketch about Dragonriders of Pern. These were fun books to read, but I'd hate to see what could happen to them in the wrong hands.
By TMR013 at 11:57 AM ON 04/25/09
Bring back Dr Who!!!! We need some intelligent scifi after BSG. Not looking forward to much else, Eureka got silly after the first season. Caprica looks like a soap opera. SGU, I think they have gotten about all they could out of that franchise, Maybe BSG - The Plan, but that's only a fix.
By MrG at 1:00 PM ON 04/25/09
Bummer about the move to Friday for EUREKA. The move to a Friday-night time slot is usually the death knell for American-produced shows. Can you say STAR TREK?
By divephotog at 1:49 PM ON 04/25/09
Isn't it sad, as well, that as we discuss the sci-fi we love, it is all vintage, and not run any more on Sci-fi (syfy), or import from BBC, and more accessable on BBC America? What is wrong with pure Sci-fi, like Andromeda, Farscape, EFC, First Wave and many other great series (not run anywhere anymore) that the real sci-fi of old used to be and not the horror and wrestling channel!!! And what happened to good shows with promise that died before they got out the gate, like the remake of Flash Gordon? Oh well... The exec's know worst... :P - Keith
By divephotog at 1:57 PM ON 04/25/09
Oh, and to continue the topic that cdw brought up... The one set of movies that could use expanding, and has not been tackled, and could use a prequel, and followups, are the DuneMovies, which did do well on both airings, and DVD sales for the franchise! in fact, I saw the extended first one in Mexico last year on their TV station when in Puerto Vallarta while traveling! So get to real sci-fi books, and classics, and write the screen plays guys! Less horror! - Keith
By Dr. Benway at 2:08 PM ON 04/25/09
For the most part, I find the series and mini-series that Sci-FI produces to be good entertainment. But anytime I see one of these made-for-tv movies being advertised, I know it won't be any good.
Based on other comments here, there's a number of other people that think these movies are all "two of hours of my life I'll never get back." The biggest issue with these movies seems to be the writting. Why not mine the works all the great authors out there instead of paying these hacks to turn out shlock? I understand these movies need to be inexpensive to make, but that doesn't mean they can't have a decent story. There's tons of short stories and novellas out there by the great masters that could be used and don't necessarily need ILM special effects.
Keep up the good work with the series and mini-series. But for crying out loud--knock it off with the awful movies!
By CapedCrusader at 2:10 PM ON 04/25/09
I agree with the majority of the posters here. This stopped being a Science Fiction channel long ago. I wish I could accurately convey my disgust with the management of this channel. Take your simple-minded fare, your wrestling, your stupid ghost hunters and GO AWAY.
By Geo at 6:47 PM ON 04/25/09
Has anyone read Robert Lynn Asprin books? They would make a great movie!! Think Scifi needs to read a few scripts before accepting any ol' thing to make an "original" Scifi movie.
By K at 6:53 PM ON 04/25/09
There will be no Doctor Who until next year. They do not film season 5 until June or July.

SciFi channel is loosing its focus. Way to many creature and lizard movies. And they're pour ones at best. There so many shows the could bring back and tons of classic show they could air. Does anyone remember Space:1999 or U.F.O? Or am I just showing my age. lol
By Kenaveco at 12:25 AM ON 04/26/09
I understand that the wrestling brings in money, but what are they doing with it? The 2nd half od Eureka will debut when the 4th season is supposed to debut, and now it's on Friday night? And then they say that Sanctuary will be back for a 2nd season....I suppose we'll have the wait another year to see the 2nd half of that season.Seems to me that all the money that wrestling is bringing in is spent on execs who probably never even heard of Heinlein, Bradbury Clarke, Asimov and McCaffrey. Eureka and Sanctuary are the only reasons I have been hanging on to the cable bill each month. Maybe I'll just watch on the net or buy the
dvds when they are released the next year.
By darthtalon at 12:58 AM ON 04/26/09
I must agree with the majority of comments here. The SciFi channel used to be my favorite channel, period. BSG was the best everbut most everything else had gone down the tubes.
Reality shows? This is the science FICTION channel. Wrestling? I never figured out how that fit in at all. More STUPID "original" movies? I'm not seeing much worth tuning in for anymore.
Try some intelligent, well written and directed programing and I might be tempted to watch again, but for now I'll stick with BBC and the Discovery channels.

Per David Tennant's website, he was supposed to be doing the 5th season of the Dr Who series... If that has changed, I do not find anything about it. Sarah Jane has a secone season that has shown in the UK, but has not been picked up by sci-fi yet. And for all of us with BBC America, Torchwood's nect season begins May 16th (watch first and second season every week!) But yes, Sci-Fi has collapsed, and hopefully with more letters to the channel, and NBC Universal, there might be something done. - Keith
By dadrees at 12:46 PM ON 04/26/09
One(or more) of the misinformed suits at this network need to be sent to Fox as punishment for wrecking what was an entertaining network devoted to science fiction.
Shame on the "brains" behind this fiasco
By pixelstuff at 2:16 PM ON 04/26/09
I agree with most of the posts on this story. My DVR hasn't recorded anything from the SciFi channel in a while. I don't understand why they think ECW belongs on their channel and I would prefer not seeing the silly "did you hear that" and "ooh I feel cold" dialog from Ghost Hunters.
I would rather they take that money and spend it on older reruns like SeaQuest, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., Knight Rider (originals), V, or about a hundred others that are older but real science fiction. And maybe treat them with once per week airings like it's an event worth savoring instead of 20 episodes in one week.
Same for the Saturday Crap movie of the week. Not everything has to have gore to be worth watching. License some of the thousand or so GOOD science fiction movies instead of sinking money into stuff with worse CG and compositing than my grandmother could create.
A couple movie suggestions would be Godzilla, Deep Impact, The Day the Earth Stood Still (B&W version in prep for the remake), nearly any super hero movies, Star Wars Movies, Star Trek Movies, Back to the Future movies, 2001 A space Odyssey, Blade Runner, Flight of the Navigator, The Princes Bride, Terminator movies, The Abyss, Contact, Soylent Green, Planet of the Apes, and I could go on and on and on.
It's sad when NBC has more good science fiction programming than the actual SciFi channel.
By pixelstuff at 2:22 PM ON 04/26/09
And just to be clear about my previous post, original series like Eureka, Sanctuary, and Stargate are preferred to the reruns. Just make them intelligent and with good quality. If not then good reruns are much better than junky "D" movies and reality shows.
By xxgatorxx at 3:47 PM ON 04/26/09
hey dadrees
i think you are wrong about sending those suits to FOX
they kill sci fi(yes scifi not syfy-shakes head) great on their own
dollhouse-TSCC-etc
seems all scifi shows dont last long as the networks are expecting a homerun right out of the park on first exposure of the show instead of remembering their history and letting shows gain their footing and grow an audience even when the shows rating arent so good
ill site x files sienfild and NCIS all started low ratings and eventually were very successful
heres another thing they need to change how they rate shows more ppl are using DVRS and internet than ver before and ppl who watch these shows-even on the network own sites are NOT counted towards their rateings...
and wtf-how does wrestling end up on syfy?
of everything i put up with on this channel that annoys me most...
ok rant over...

FYI, David Tennant is just finishing his Dr Who role with 4 to be aired specials in England. No reason to doubt they would make it here eventually.
Nice reading of these posts. Many , many, many old sci-fi movies that would be a breath of fresh air compared to the usual saturday night drek!
The Man Who Fell to Earth
A Boy and his Dog

Dr. Who gives a s*!t is what I call it. Sanctuary will return, but yeah, when? Friday is the day when the powerhouse front line shows air so I don't know what the hell you are talking about, Warehouse thirteen is already ify, but now that it is being released on Tuesdays, I'm thinking SYFY thinks the same thing. They are moving Eureka to Friday finally because they know that they don't have anything else. Eureka is now their only good show.
The stupid syfy movies need to stop... seriously.
I think Dune, and Children of Dune were the only good movies they ever made. Earthsea was okay, kinda.. But not really.
The thing is these films don't look that cheap, they just look cheasy and the writing is terrible, everything is terrible, just look at the names of these stupid things.

Actually the only thing that looks good and I can't wait for is Stargate Universe. I have high hopes and despite the potential for "voyager" I don't think its going to be that way, I'm thinking they have learned a thing or two. I'm thinkin they are going to get this one right. Can't wait!!

This network has turned into "Mystery Science Theater 3000" without the 'bots. Ironically, Servo and Crow are more sci-fi than any of these crappy movies.

If SciFi wants to keep viewers loyal they need more consistent programming. I used to watch 3 hours every friday night (stargate SG-1, stargate Atlantis, and BSG) then they started breaking them up so only one of them was on at a time. Then they ended all of these shows. Sanctuary is interesting and I will be watching but there is no sign of it returning anytime soon. Caprica could fill a slot but again no time frame on when. Dr. Who is awesome but they don't carry current episodes and no sign of it anytime soon. What are they doing? Eureka is boring and I don't see myself watching the entire network through the summer at all. Stupid, stupid, stupid on their part.

Yes Beth... I was a big Friday fan as well. But seems the pickings will be slim for awhile. Repeats of Primeval (if you get BBC America!) while awaiting it's next season May 16th there. SG-1 is recycling from the beginning again, SG Atlantis is sporadically programmed, sure Eureka will be coming, but all the good stuff is far off, fall or 2010!Oh, and Caprica looks like a very weak story line so far, as there was nothing tying several key elements of the BSG that we loved to this line, line the final five, the military, or anything that was BSG, though we saw the same house Balthour was in on Caprica again as a small tie in... (Plus, they used a ton of sex to sell the story that wasn't necessary!) So lok for it to die a quick death! SyFy as well... My cable company just installed a separate channel for FearNet on demand, let them carry the horror stuff, but Sci-Fi is a specific genre, not all inclusive... later! Keith - ps everyone shound also write NBC Uni at NBCUniSupport@nbcuni.com

I will try out new Eureka, Caprica, and SG-U, but along with many others here, lament that the cable channel once established to be the GO TO place for science fiction now not only puts Science Fiction in the back seat, it ties it up with duct tape, shoves a ball-gag in its mouth, and tosses it in the trunk! The Wrestlers are driving, the Ghost Hunters are riding shotgun, and there's a mutant lizard in the tank.
I was very much a fan of the Showtime Outer Limits series, and I think that SyFy would do well to put that kind of quality science fiction anthology back on the air with new episodes in prime time. Maybe the producers could make a point of searching out new writing talent for original scripts, or adapting the work of more recently published SF writers. So not only would SyFy be providing SF-based entertainment, it would be doing something positive to improve the state of Science Fiction in general. That alone could help get a lot of their "street cred" back, and compensate for a lot of non-Sci Fi "reality" programming and wrestling. Just a thought.

To answer the Dr. Who fans, the BBC isn't producing any new episodes in 2009, except for the Easter (already aired) and Christmas specials. It's not clear if the Christmas special will be Tennant's last episode before Matt Smith takes over, or if Tennant will apear in the 2010 season.

Come on, people!! Wrestling is a fictional sport so why not on Scifi? Admittedly, the people are great athletes and their bodies take alot of punishment but it's not a real sport.
Now I have seen alot of you clamoring for this channel to make movies/series from some of the better scifi authors out there. Be careful what you wish for are you might get something like that piece of crap called Legend of the Seeker.
I’d love to see Andre Norton’s Witch World as a series or Orson’s Ender series if it was produced with good CGI and a solid script that was if not verbatim to the novels, at least true to the prose without adding new stories to fluff out the series. Another author to throw in the ring would be Mercedes Lacey’s Valdemar series. Some George R.R. Martin would be appreciated too. As long as they aren’t mucked up by marketing people and execs.

Sci Fi I beg of you! Stop doing reality shows!! Stop making low budget bad acting movies. Start showing Torchwood, revive some already cancelled and under appreciated shows. There's soo much good you could be doing for the Sci Fi fan, but you've been giving us serious crap. Re think your business model. Please?
By whitedogfly at 7:20 PM ON 05/12/09
Farscape, Firefly, Stargate, Sanctuary, Eureka PLEASE. Ghost Hunters International OK. Ghost Hunters needs to replace sidekicks....no more Gonsalves. No more Battlestar, Dr Who.

Why, oh why is Eureka being moved to Friday nights? It's the ONLY show on SciFi that watch. First they did that stupid midseason break and now this move. What are they trying to do, get the show canceled for bad ratings? I hate hate hate the new timeslot. So disappointed in SciFi right now, so so disappointed.

Sancturary will be back. Sarah Jane and Dr. Who depend on the BBC - if they make more. Thus far, only 2 Doctor Who's have been made for 2009, Xmas and some other special. I miss Flash Gordon too, it was great fun, and I miss Painkiller Jane. Also great fun. Of course, the short ending of the series SG Atlantis seriously miffed off hard core fans, like me. Caprica, a pre BSG series will be on as well as SG Universe, a new series.

BBC America got Dr who. It won't be on sci fi anymore, not sure about Sarah Jane adventures

I am looking forward to the James Marsters High Plains Invaders movie..anything that has James in it has me watching. His Spike is the best vampire ever. I am glad Eureka is not starting until July, since I just found the series and am getting caught up using netflix, still have season 2 to go. Love it. Glad to see Sanctuary will be back. The Invader movie is supposed to be on Video on Demand right now, but I can not find it and dishnetwork is not carrying it...a pox on them.

Eureka sucks and so does SYFY. This channel has become a joke. Ghost hunters? Really.
