Warner Brothers' and DC Comics' next big-budget feature, Green Lantern, will be made at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney, New South Wales premier Nathan Rees announced, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Preproduction on Green Lantern is set to begin in July, and filming scheduled to start in November. Warner hopes to release the film in December 2010.
Martin Campbell, director of Casino Royale, will be at the helm of the comic book's big-screen adaptation, working from a script by Greg Berlanti and Michael Green. Donald Deline will produce, with a reported budget of $150 million.
Green Lantern is the third Warner movie being made in New South Wales. Happy Feet 2 is in development there, and Guardians of Ga'Hoole is now in production by Animal Logic.

In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil’s might, beware my power, Green Lantern’s light!
My life is almost complete.

Just as long as Seth Rogen isn't in it. Who IS playing GL?

I know Chris Pine is current favorite. But a final decision is way off. Haven't seen the new Trek yet, so I don't know if he can wear the ring right.

Christopher Pine has denied the rumors that he is being considered for the part. They should cast Christopher Meloni who lent his voice to the character in the animated movie. Hopefully any movie of Green Lantern will not strive to imitate the Dark Knight but will capture Green Lantern's unique tone.

Christopher Meloni ?!?!?!? are you kidding ? Durn -- - - that would trash it! Just pick an "unknown" with skills !

My first choice would be Jamie Bamber (sp). He has the basic look of Hal Jordan, (height weight etc) He's a good actor, knows how to be the hero/anti-hero, can pull off a great American accent. I say let someone with proven acting chops play Hal, not some newbie who prolly doesn't even know his high school ring from a power ring. Don't re imagine it, don't play with the concept, The story has already been written, laid out and proven...if it isn't broke...DO NOT fix it!
