Guess where they're going to split Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Guess where they\'re going to split \<i\>Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows\<\/i\>

Empire Online reports that the upcoming two-part Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie will split at a cliffhanger moment.

The magazine spoke with star Daniel Radcliffe and franchise producer David Heyman.

"We've played around with a couple of places," Heyman told the magazine. "And ultimately settled on a place that we think is very exciting, and I think quite bold, in that it's not necessarily where one might expect. You want to give a sense of completion, on one hand, but a sense that there's another piece, more to come. We tried one, and then Steve [Kloves, the screenwriter,] came up with the idea to try it another way, and when we tried that, it felt just right."

Radcliffe added that the split is "at a very tense cliffhanger", which may be a bigger clue for fans.

The pair also discussed the end of final film installments, which are based on the seventh of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books. (Spoilers ahead!)

As readers of the book know, the final scenes take place 19 years after the events of the main story. Heyman wants to use Benjamin Button-like technology to age the three main actors to play their older selves, and Radcliffe hopes they get it right.

"I am nervous about that, because if it's good, I'll be really, really pleased," Radcliffe said. "If it's not good, and that's what people are left with, that would be awful. If it's a choice between having me, Rupert and Emma looking a bit stupid and it being slightly comical or having other actors play us, I would go for other actors every time. So we'll see." The first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is slated for release in November of 2010. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, based on the sixth book, opens July 15.

That is so overly vague, their is only one reason they would have said it:

They are trying to bait people into speculating to get more publicity for the Harry Potter movies.

Where are they going to cut the first movie? Somewhere in the story. Not very helpful.

The most obvious cliffhanger spot would be when they are escaping from Malfoy Mannor.

By DreadPirateRoberts at 2:40 PM ON 04/21/09

Agreed. Escape from the mannor, death of you know who, and decision to be made on Hallows or Horcruxes. The whole section seems obvious, but who knows.

so over this series and those blah kids! Glad that its finally going to be over and the sad 40 somethings who read this series will be depressed!

By shroudedwolf at 12:03 AM ON 04/22/09

Wow. ^ Let's just forget the millions and millions of kids who made the series famous shall we? They wouldn't even be close to 40 right now... Try thinking next time, it might be beneficial for the rest of your own life...

FWIW, Only the extended DVD edition of Return of the King was 4 hours long. The version they showed in theaters was "only" around 3 hours and 20 minutes.

Spoiler Ahead if you don't know the story...I know Malfoy Mannor seems like everyone's choice for the obvious split, but here's another perspective. The first half of the book really drags out, and there is a lot of detail in the second half that I think people would be upset about if it was thrown out. So, why not end the first movie after they break out of Gringot's and the dragon drops them by the lake. It would provide a cliffhanger ending to the first movie, and let them keep a lot more of the meat of the rest of the story in. Plus, then they wouldn't have to skimp on the budget for the Gringot's scene which I think could be pretty awesome. I don't know. I think it's a pretty good idea...But then I'm not a film maker.

Mannor and the ron sceen are in the seventhth book. The end of the quiddich championship would be best. And the dragon to is in the seventh.

I reckon they are going to slpit it when harry is it with Avada Kedavra because then everyone would want to know if he survives or not
