All I can say is beautiful woman.

Yeah, Uhura is definitely Red-Hot Ultra Sexy Gorgeous with a large side order of Yum. All kidding aside she is absolutely stunning. I hope she gets to do more than Nichelle Nichols (who was always made to look weak - was never a strong character until ST-III when she confronted "Mr. Adventure").
By jbs780 at 5:51 PM ON 04/13/09
Martin Luther King disagreed with you. He encourged Ms. Nicholls not to leave the show, which she was considering, because she showed the nation/world a strong intelligent black woman who had advanced to a high level in her chosen field.
Just sayin' so don't be hatin'!

Just being visible was a huge step and Nichelle Nichols made it. People forget how cracker much of the US was in the sixties. To do much more than the first interracial kiss could have done more harm than good.
Uhura looks like she gets some attention in the trailers.

JBS780 - Not hating here, agreeing to a point actually. In the episodes when she was a prominent character (a department head on one of the greatest ships in the fleet) they wrote her to look weaker is what I meant. She had to be afraid and show it where the male cast members didn't have to. I want to see an Uhura that isn't always afraid. I cite your example of the episode with the interracial kiss as an example. I know it was the writers of the time and not Nichelle Nichols, but they made her always fearful . . ."Captain, I'm afraid. Hold me. I think of you on the bridge . . "
It was great to show a mixed crew, but you could still see the divide in the original series was the point I was making. Didn't mean at all to cut down Nichelle Nichols for the role she played in the civil rights movement and I'm sorry it was taken that way. I would hate to see Uhura written the way she was in the old series was the only point I was trying to make as I felt it did Nichelle and her character an injustice. You'd never see Spock or McCoy saying "Jim, I'm sooo afraid. Hold me. I think of you on the bridge . . " The worst part of that episode was they had to make the kiss look forced to get it by the network censors.
And I still hold to my conviction that Zoe Saldana is smokin' hot.

Bobanort-Points well made. We're cool Partner! 8^)
One minor counter point...that kiss had to look forced because...well...they WERE
being forced by the alien baddies...which you knew without me saying so...pooint is I don't think the network censors would have allowed it under aANY circumstances if they were really against the idea...but I DO understand you point.
And YEP, THAT'S A BIG 10-4 GOOD BUDDY regarding Zoe Saldana.
By the by...the clip of Kirk makin' the move on Uhura in the bar...she comes across strong in that clip...to me...FWIW.
"Captcha...again." he sighed, shaking his head in bleak resignation...

There is no way you can build a starship like the Enterprise without a hanger. That picture is totally unrealistic. In the second picture, it would be impossible to stand on a platform that far above a planet. In the last picture, you see smoke. If I saw smoke like that in any hanger, I would pull the fire alarm. In the picture showing Uhura, that too is unrealistic. She has her screen in front of her that tells her everything she needs to know, plus she has her ear piece. There is no reason whatsoever she would need to look back. That picture is also unrealistic. In the picture showing that cannon firing, that thing is in too low to be in orbit (look at the parachute). That is another unrealistic shot. Finally, I have a problem with the picture of Spock and Kirk. Spock is holding a phaser upwards, and pointed at Kirk's head. Pointing a gun at anyone even in safety mode is a no-no. All these pictures demonstrate how unrealistic Star Trek is.

JBS - Glad we're cool. On the kiss originally it wasn't going to look forced according to Roddenberry in an interview he did (I have an old videotape of it somewhere here). He was the one who said making it look forced was the only way the censors would allow it at all, but it was still controversial. Glad they let it go though

Yeap! Uhura is smoking hot, but Zoe Saldana doesn't dig white nerds.

Is Someone that stupid or am i the only one who sees 6 pics? just goes to show you accuracy isn't inportant on this film.

TO STAR TREK IS TOTALLY UNREALISTIC:
1. That's not smoke in the hangar, it's steam. Go ahead and pull the fire alarm if you want but you'll get taken away for a false alarm.
2. Spock's Phaser is not aimed at Kirk's head, it looks like he is about to fire over Kirk's shoulder.
3. Who said the platform was supposed to be in orbit? When I first saw the trailer, I assumed it was hovering over the surface, within a planetary atmosphere.
4. About Uhura: Have you ever seen the show? Uhura's station is along the "outer edge" of the bridge, she has to crane her neck to speak to the other bridge officers.
5. It would be more realistic to show Enterprise being built in a hangar but the drama of young Kirk watching the construction would be lost. In a movie, drama wins over realism every time.
By Bobanort at 4:22 PM ON 04/15/09
Who cares if she don't dig white nerds she gets our money all the same. Just because I think she's hot doesn't need to imply anything other than she really looks gorgeous. Not every nerd is so hard up that he/she has to have a movie star to fall in love with.
Star Trek Is Totally Unrealistic?? I think that's why they call it "Science Fiction". The phaser isn't pointed at kirks head as kirk is obviously in front of spock. The phaser is pointed in a perfectly safe direction unless a mugatu is going to jump from a tree on them or something. Then it probably wouldn't be safe for the mugatu.
The smoke looks more like fog as it's either early morning or dusk when he's look at the ship being constructed. The temperature would drop below the dew point and you'd have fog if it were humid enough. You expect smoke to be denser and patchier (not around everything in the shot.
If Uhura didn't turn around . . .how would we see that pretty face?
I can't wait to see the film.

Zacary R Wildstar: No, you're right. We forgot to add the seventh image of Scotty (Simon Pegg), which we now have.
