Primeval movie in the works; 3rd season debuts on BBC America
Warner Brothers and Impossible Pictures are developing a feature film based on its sci-fi series Primeval, from the creators of Walking With Dinosaurs, for 2010, BBC America announced.
In the meantime, the third season of the hit British series debuts on BBC America on May 16 and will air Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
The new season will feature new cast members, new monsters and special effects and a rare location shoot in London's British Museum.
Joining the cast are Jason Flemying and Laila Rouass. The new season also brings an unusual new monster designed entirely by a Primeval fan.
At the start of the new season, Nick Cutter (Douglas Henshall) is still reeling from Stephen's death and the extent of his wife Helen's (Juliet Aubrey) betrayal. As he fights to refocus his embattled team, the anomalies continue to present an unrelenting series of threats. If the team thought the mammoth was a tough nemesis, then the giganotosaurus is truly epic.
In addition, creatures steeped in ancient folklore begin to appear as it becomes clear that the origins of myths and legends are linked with the mysterious anomalies. From a pristichampus, a creature that bears a striking resemblance to the ancient Egyptian crocodile demon Ammut, to a dracorex being hunted by a deranged knight who's convinced it's a dragon he must slay, it seems everyone wants a bite of the action.

WOO-HOO! I really like this show and I think a movie will be great. I can't wait until the episodes premiere on BBC America!

I don't get BBC America. But I saw the last couple of Episodes on scifi. I'm not liking it. Creatures come form a time portal to here and they have to stop them. So that's the plot for every episode. Yeah I think I'm going to stop watching now. You saw one episode you have seen the entire series.

You are entitled to your opinion of course, but I think you need to give this show another chance. The premise of "Creature of the week" is only half the show....they've begun to develop the characters and back story really well. I can't wait for season 3 and the movie if they get it made.

Wondering what the actual source is on this. BBCAmerica's press office has its releases for May out, and Primeval is not on the highlights document. Saturdays at 9pm is currently occupied by Ashes to Ashes, which, although series 1 finale is this weekend, the Series 2 premiere airs May 2nd. No where near enough time for the presumed 8 episode run (if like Series 1) to finish.
As much as I love the series, and would like it to start next month, I'm skeptical of this date, since neither BBC, BBCAmerica, nor ITV have a press release about it.

Methos -- as everybody knows, the main reason to stick with the show is the periodic scenes with Hannah Spearrit in her underwear.

3rd season? I thought that BBC America only showed the first season last year or was it both 1 and 2 together? Anyway its not "creatue of the week "after the first episodes it turns into altered timelines and a cross time conspiracy/time war.

Only 2 Eps on the Sci-Fi Channel so far, the first was kinda interesting, the second barely watchable. I'll keep watching and hope things start perking up.
Third season for Primeval, is Sanctuary still in production?

Primeval is so cool, I love this show & I can not wait for the movie to come out (if & when it gets made). And Hannah Spearritt from S Club 7 is awesome in the role of Abby Maitland no one else could have pulled off the role like she has, (& fyi scifi cut about 10 minutes of the pilot out, including Abby's (Hannah Spearritt) intro) & theshow just keeps getting better. Also btw it was the first two seasons (or series as they call it over in England, idk why), because they only run about 8 or 10 episodes per season unlike us here in the U.S. with 22 episode seasons.

sawcat: I received an email this afternoon, from BBC America, announcing Primeval's return on Sat May 19 at 9PM Eastern. Presumably, as a lead to Ashes to Ashes.
rtavi: BBC America aired seasons one and two in one block, because the show has had small episode orders. The season one DVD released in America is also seasons one and two together.
