Robert Downey Jr. gives a glimpse at Iron Man 2

Robert Downey Jr. gives a glimpse at \<i\>Iron Man 2\<\/i\>

Robert Downey Jr., who reprises the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man in Iron Man 2, offered Collider.com a few details about the sequel, which is now shooting in Los Angeles.

"I've never been in a sequel, and it's very daunting, because I feel the expectation of the millions of people who watched it and enjoyed it and told me that it was a little different than your usual genre picture and that they expected us to not screw it up," Downey told the site over the weekend. "So I actually have taken Iron Man 2 probably more seriously than any movie I've ever done, which is appropriately ridiculous for Hollywood."

Downey co-stars with Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke and Don Cheadle in the sequel, which will be directed by Jon Favreau.

"The set pieces have to do with things that aren't your typical, like, bad-guy conflict," Downey said. "The relationships are very complex and hilarious. The motivations Tony has, and why he turns around and does things, has completely to do with his own internal processes, and it really is, I think, as much as we tried to in the first one really see behind the façade of this kind of storytelling. We really, I think, leaving ourselves open to ... We're kind of trying to tell a story about how a dysfunctional family saves life on Earth as we know it."

Downey also promised the movie would have a presence at Comic-Con International in San Diego in July. Iron Man 2 is slated for release on May 7, 2010.

I hope he finds a faster way to get into his suit, as asking the supervillain to hold off on his quest of destruction while Tony runs back home to get Iron Man clamped on seems a little, well, ridiculous.

Did the orignal Iron Man in the Marvel comics start off with an easy access suit to jump into at a moments notice? I'm pretty sure the briefcase version of the suit was something that had to be worked up to. The first movie was just the beginning of the history of iron Man. Expecting a quick change routine for such a complex hero so soon seem a little, well, ridiculous.

Anyone recall the Extremis armor? Talk about retarded...suit bonded to body by dna or some lame crap. It also made his reflexes super quick. A lot of the first movie was based off of that storyline. i'm glad that part was left out.
