The SCI FI Channel original series Sanctuary began production last week on its second season in Vancouver, Canada, the channel announced.
Slated to return this fall, the one-hour drama's 13-episode second season will include the addition of new cast member Agam Darshi (2012) as Kate Freelander.
Witty and sarcastic, with a gift for persuasion, Kate Freelander is a swindler, con artist and thief who finds herself in an uneasy alliance with Dr. Magnus (Amanda Tapping) after her business relationship with the Cabal goes sour.
Agam has appeared in such television programs as Supernatural, The Dead Zone, Stargate Atlantis and the Lifetime movie The Haunting on Sorority Row. Her feature-film credits include Final Destination 3, Snakes on a Plane and Roland Emmerich's upcoming apocalyptic thriller 2012.
Sanctuary follows the adventures of Magnus, a brilliant scientist who holds the secrets of a clandestine population: a group of strange and sometimes terrifying beings that hide among humans. The series also stars Robin Dunne.

Is there a show anywhere on the air that doesn't have a character named Kate?

Sweet, at least its another cute girl...too many lead males on the show atm even though they all rock.
The name Kate is overused on TV shows just like all the common names in RL....dunno why so many people choose the same names over and over!
Ah well, greatly looking forward to some more Sanctuary...

Yep, she's a babe.
I only have one problem: only 13 episodes? What is this, BBC America? Give them a full season!

I don't mind the 13 episode per season, However, it does make seasons pass by slowly. Not sure whether that 13 episode order is because SCi-Fi Channel is unsure of the product still (i.e. could be considering cancelling) or because of budget.
Not sure if Eureka, or Warehouse 13 have a full season either. If someone could clue us in. Is Sci-Fi going via USA Network and doing 13 episodes twice a year or just 13 episodes annually. 13 episodes make it hard to sustain a following.
However, I know Primeval a BBC America for it's seasons only have 7 episodes per season so it could always be much worse lol.

Good point about Primeval. That is another show that I liked and think deserves more than the pittance of shows that have been made thus far.

13 episodes in a season means it's less likely to go stale and keeps you interested as you don't have to have so many 'filler' episodes or have to stretch a storyline so thinly nothing happens (Sarah Connor). I will admit it is a long wait between seasons though. It also makes it easier to show the whole series over consecutive weeks, on the same night every week, unlike so many American series that seem blighted by one hiatus after another (Fringe) or get shunted around the schedule so much they end up cancelled as people lose interest and drift away (Life on Mars). After so many good shows coming to an end this year or being cancelled though it will be good to see Sanctuary return in the autumn.

Still a long way off, but at least some new info. Would have been nice if they mentioned if the rest of the cast are coming back.
Will, Ashley, Henry, Bigfoot, and hopefully Clara Griffin at least a few Eps anyway.
Primeval starts tomorrow, that should help pass the time till S is back. Can hardly wait.

Love the show, hate the wait!!! But that just makes it better. Hope it lasts as long as Amanda Tapping(and others)Stargate SG-1. That was Friday night Sci-Fi TV at its best!!!
