The season finale of Fox's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles saw its ratings unchanged from recent weeks: a 1.3 preliminary rating among adults 18-49 and 3.6 million viewers, The Hollywood Reporter's Live Feed blog reported.
This despite wrapping up the show's second season (and, likely, the series) and offering fans a heavily promoted preview of the upcoming Terminator: Salvation.
Meanwhile Dollhouse slipped to a 1.4 rating and 3.6 million viewers. This matches the show's March 27 season low in the adult demographic, though it's not any kind of dramatic change (the show has been trading in the 1.4-1.6 range for the past few weeks).

the show has definately got boring...Sarah Conner was wat 15 - 20 years ago. If the show would progress past her and start telling john conners story then I have no doubt you will see a change of ratings.
No offense writers but we've seen her and been seeing her forever. Change isn't always bad. Progress the story line and save the show..

What a huge disappointment this show turned out to be. Such promise, but became very boring to watch. The finale actually was good, but overall season was bad. It is evident that this show will not be renewed. Looking forward to the series of Terminator movies that are coming...

The show is worth watching but we need to see the heroes as heroes. I love the characters of Sarah and John, but they need to vamp up storylines a bit. Not just action, but balance the grim with some humor too.

I actually really enjoy this show and feel it's gotten nothing but better since that horrible pilot.

I have loved the show from day one. I think that the version of the Terminator universe that they depict is realistic and fun to watch. I have recorded every episode, because I am never home on Friday. It has a strong following, but people like me just are not home. Do not cancel it yet.

I have to admit, it was a bit confusing and grim, but I watched every episode. However, I generally watched it on Hulu.com.
Give us one more season at least.
The music is stupendous!

The show has great potential and if the writers and producers can sell the next season to Fox, I think the ratings can potentially grow to worthy numbers.
Judging from the finale, they intend to do away with Sarah Connor for the next season and leave John to fend for himself. Cameron is still there, but not as he knew her.
All this and he has just wiped himself from history. I would wager that the entire possible third season will be his attempt at returning to his past to put himself back where he should have remained.
If anything, Sarah should have been the one to depart, since she was destined to die anyway.
Here's keeping my fingers crossed...

I think the show has really gotten very good as it went along. Initially I wondered how interesting it'd be with them killing a Terminator every week. But it's shown amazing depth and the fact that there's a lot of other things going on we don't know about yet. What is the T-1000's/Weaver's motivation for helping John now, when it/she first said she wouldn't join them? Same goal as John but different means? I really hope it comes back, there are lots of questions.

I really liked the show as well. To be honest, I enjoyed the show more than I did the movies (and I liked the movies). The finale was cool and if the show doesn't get picked up again (which I wish it would), I'd like to see Fox at least give them a chance to finish out the story (a half season, or even 4-5 episodes). The finale was a pretty big cliffhanger and posed more questions then it answered (which seems to be the exact opposite of what was said in that article a while back about the season's final episode).
If I'm reading a book I don't want to find the last 20 pages tell me to "use your imagination." So at least show me what's going on and how this wraps up. I'm getting a bit tired of plot-driven shows simply ending in the middle of the story because A) the network wants to wait and see how the season plays out before renewing, putting the writers in a position where they can't close out the story if it's canceled given they want to end on a cliffhanger in case it's renewed; or B) the writers/producers just cross their fingers and hope it will keep going for years. Rather than hoping to go for years, I'd like to see more shows go in with a realistic goal and stick to it.."we're pitching this one-season show / miniseries/ etc. and ending there, like really long movies in multiple parts." Maybe more shows would get a proper ending. But as it is, the networks are money-making enterprises; if a show does well, they want it to continue, if it doesn't, they want it gone. Even with a set length some shows might never make it or would be forced by the network to continue beyond it's end. Bummer...

The boldest thing they did was kill off Derrick Reese 2 weeks ago with a quick blow to the head in a "what the F*** did I just see" manner!
This show is sooooo boring...what the F$$% was the point with John Henry, anyway?? What a boring character...I was soooo happy when they finally killed Cromartie!
The SPFX in the series finale were quite lame, too.
I liked moving the timeline ahead, though...
Oh well, Fox actually gave the show a chance, though...more than what Firefly got, and that show was way better!!!
Fox could've cancelled this show twice, but I fear this time is the last time.

I really enjoy this show as well, it could use alot more action with summer glua or some kind of terminator kick some axx. I believe the story line does seem to get alittle confussing where they should just keep it simple but i do think the show has room for promise and there should be alot more cyborg action.

What is the best way to write to Fox in support? E-mail? Snail mail? Anyone have an addy for both, either???
By Methos at 3:29 PM ON 04/13/09
Terminator 90210. I tried to like it at first but it just sucked. I bet it would have done better on the CW. Place it after Superman 90210 and it would have done great in that viewer demographic.

"Humor"? Why must there be "humor" in the show? It's a drama about trying to prevent the apocalypse. Such a light topic!
I'll take "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" over the humorous "Stargate: SG1" any day of the week.
And, I'll be very happy to have a great show that features a strong female character as perfectly played by Lena Headley, too.
I hope the show gets a third season.
If Fox cancels the show, I hope that the Sci-Fi (SyFy) Channel is smart enough to pick it up. To save money. They could cut the season order to 13 episodes.

Crap! I saw the season finale, and I can't remember ANY of it. That is not a good thing.
By arrakis44 at 4:12 PM ON 04/13/09
honestly I rather hope it does not get a renewal (which seems likely).
As much as I enjoyed the show, it did get boring and the finale commited the same cardinal sin as the premiere - jumping forward in time is the biggest mistake the show has made!! In fact time travel should be have been written out of the show completely - IMO there were far to many peopel jumping back in time. They should have nipped that nonsense from the start.
By parchedearth at 4:32 PM ON 04/13/09
Guaranteed, the series will be back for early next year. Salvation is going to be number one this summer and with two more movies, Fox is going to want to capitalize on this. I thought the finale was great. They have all kinds of angles they can go with it from here.
By DJ Jarak at 4:59 PM ON 04/13/09
That nuts! I have never been more satisfied by a season finale cliffhanger in all my life. Still, I can't wait to see what happens next.
By txGreg at 5:16 PM ON 04/13/09
Obviously, we all see things differently. While it's had it's ups and downs so far, overall I've liked the series. Then, they did what I consider to be a classic "jump the shark" moment with the s2 finale. In one episode they managed to kill my interest in the series. It struck me as a bunch of desperate people who couldn't figure out how to tell a decent story grasping at straws. That episode managed to kill my interest in the series almost completely.
By duneboat at 9:05 PM ON 04/13/09
bring back show for one more season. but to comment on prior viewer saying Salvation movie will be biggest hit this summer. he forgot about a certain wizard, vulcan and X person, among others, who are more likely to lead the way

doesn't look good for next season's Sara Conner. :(

I hear the sets have gone already and it has been cancelled.. I live in England and we are 2 weeks behind. I am struggling with not looking up what happens. sounds interesting .

This is a great show, science fiction or otherwise, and I hope FOX keeps it on the air. Though its ratings have declined, like most shows ratings have, when DVRs, online viewing, and online episode downloads are added in, the show's ratings are fine. On iTunes, for example, every episode is always in the top ten TV episode downloads of the week, and on Hulu, the show is one of its most popular.
Critics of the show usually cite the show as not having enough action or Terminators in each episode, which is ridiculous. Why should the rest of us have to suffer, because those with short attention spans can't follow a good dramatic story? If all you can manage are explosions every five seconds and shiny things, look elsewhwere. This is a television series that delivers every week, and has a cast that is excellent. Lena Headey, for example, had a big role to fill in taking over the character of Sarah Connor from Linda Hamilton, but she has done it, and she has made the character her own. She is fantastic in the role.
The finale for the second season was a cliffhanger episode, so hopefully FOX will renew the series so the story can continue. If not, I would hope that the creators of the series can find another way to finish the story they've been telling, like a DVD movie, or a series of DVD movies, that would do the job.
TV ratings are declining across the board, because people are tired of getting involved in a show only to have it cancelled before its time. FOX is notorious for doing this, but what the networks need to understand, and factor into their numbers, are the amount of people who don't watch a show when it airs, but watch it later, either on their DVR, sites, like Hulu, or by downloading the episodes from places like iTunes and Amazon. If the networks figure those numbers into their traditional ratings as well, they'd see a much different picture, and see that a lot of their shows aren't doing as poorly as they think. During the writers strike, viewers became accustomed to viewing shows in other ways, or finding other forms of entertainment. They don't confine themselves to the house on certain days, because a network tells them they have to watch a show on a certain day, at a certain time. It's about time the networks realize this, and stop clinging to their old ratings system. Too many good shows are being cancelled all the time because they refuse to adapt with their audience. First the networks saw their audiences shift to cable, now they're seeing them shift to DVRs, online viewing, and video downloads. It's time for them to move ahead as well, and stop being so stubborn.
Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles is definitely worthy of another season and then some. Lesser shows have been kept on the air for years, including the brain-rotting reality shows that are everywhere these days. Good dramas need a place on TV, too, where shows can take the time to develop a quality story, instead of having to cater to the mental midgets that demand more car chases, more stuff blowing up, and more shiny things. Hopefully FOX will surprise us all, and go against form for once by keeping this show on the air.

I saw the first season but stopped watching it.After seeing they had brian austin green in it I'm glad I did.A show like this shouldn't have pretty people in it .
