ShockTillYouDrop.com reports that Thomas Dekker (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) is in final negotiations to join the cast of Platinum Dunes' A Nightmare on Elm Street remake.

Dekker, who played John Connor on the Fox TV series, is being cast as Jesse, a jock on the swim team, in the new Nightmare, which will also star Kyle Gallner and Watchmen's Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger.

Samuel Bayer directs the movie, which begins shooting next month in Chicago. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing. Warner Brothers/New Line will release the film on April 16, 2010.

I don't care who plays Freddy Krueger, but no one's as great as Robert England, the one & only Freddy Krueger.

Earle Haley gave a wonderful performance in Watchmen. I think he would make a cool Freddy

This guy is an amazing actor with an unusual sensitivity that might make some think he's effeminate -- much like James Callis -- but which actually proves both actors' strong sense of confidence in being able to diverge from the macho alpha male stereotype. I wish both of them the very best. They should be in a great Woody Allen film and not stuck to silly shows or bad horror/sci fi stuff after they've proven such skill.
